    EARTH CHANGES 2011 DAILY UPDATES - Page 25 400x266_12081504_snowthreatmap
Monster Storm Could be Winter's Worst

In areas hit by the monster snowstorm this weekend these could be the worst conditions of the winter months, factoring in snow and returning wind, cold and lake-effect into next week.

The monster snowstorm slated for this weekend will hit portions of the Midwest, eastern Great Lakes, central Appalachians, Ontario and Quebec the hardest.
The heaviest snow is most likely to begin over northeastern Missouri and stretch across central Illinois, central Indiana, northern Ohio, northwestern Pennsylvania, western New York, southern and southwestern Ontario and southwestern and central Quebec.

Get your shovels and plows ready in St. Louis, Peoria, Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Toledo, Cleveland, Detroit, Erie, Buffalo, Rochester, Toronto and Ottawa.

We will have specifics on the snowfall amounts, but it would seem a general 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimeters) of snow are likely in this swath with locally higher accumulations, especially over Quebec and anywhere downwind of the Great Lakes.

People within the snow area should expect blizzard conditions several hours after the snow begins as winds are expected to increase. There is the potential for whiteouts and road closures, which could strand motorists and people waiting for flights at airports.

Nasty Cold and Lake-Effect Snow Event Follows
In the wake of the storm, the coldest air of the season so far, and perhaps the entire winter season, will follow. Some of the snowbelts downwind of the Great Lakes could easily receive from 1 to 3 feet of new snow next week. According to Expert Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson, "The heavy load of snow may cause roofs to fail." "If the snowfall happens as forecast, it could mean some locations will have 5 to 10 feet of snow on the ground from the most recent lake-effect, the storm and the new lake-effect," Anderson added.

The explanation for the extreme weather is that the Gulf current has stopped . To see the latest pictures of the gulf current view the website below .

If you look at the data of the gulf current closely, you will see that the current dropped off in November and since the begining of Dec has picked back up. So should provide many storms in the late winter early spring. Feb/March time. I have my own reasons as to why the gulf stream has stopped, and highlighted to that on this thread already.

But a very quick break down.
The Geomagnetic lines slow in Sept/Oct to kick back up at Xmas. The thing is that the geomagnetic lines in Sept/Oct, dropped way further than they should have. As this is part of the motor that drives our Magnetic field and the gulf stream to a greater extent as to other factors, this stalled the motor. It appears to be kicking back into action.

Could this be a prologue to the stopping total of the Gulf stream? Will the Magnetic pole shift complete first? Or is it just a back to normal after years of wavering?

    Each to their own choices.

Magnetic Pole Reversal also have significant effects on the planet and how electricity works. If I recall (will check this) a reversal would pretty much wipe out how the current electrical systems are set up and they would have to be reconfigured.

    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/magnetic/

A geomagnetic reversal is a change in the orientation of Earth's magnetic field such that the positions of magnetic north and magnetic south become interchanged. These events often involve an extended decline in field strength followed by a rapid recovery after the new orientation has been established. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geomagnetic_reversal

Earth Magnetic Field Reversal. Whether the magnetic field is primarily molten-metal flow dynamics or electron current loops, or a combination of those and other factors, a magnetic pole reversal may be of significance to the search for clean energy generation and transportation. If earth magnetic anomalies become more frequent or are concentrated in certain areas, we could see disruption of existing electrical grids, even without the dramatic atmosphere expansion and radiation damaging to life and computers. http://www.pureenergysystems.com/news/2005/02/27/6900064_Magnet_Pole_Shift/

What would happen if the magnetic field of the Earth suddenly changed?
If the magnetic field of the Earth suddenly changed, and this DOES happen naturally every 250,000 years or so, the consequences would be fascinating. For life, we can see from the fossil record that the past field changes had no significant effect on living organisms. This is most curious because the field reversal ( North magnetic pole shifting to antarctica and the South magnetic pole shifting to the arctic region in the Northern Hemisphere) one might expect the field to go to zero strength for a century or so. This would let cosmic rays freely penetrate to the Earth's surface and cause mutations. This seems not to have had much effect in the past, so we probably don't really know what is going on during these field reversals. There have been a dozen of them over the last few million years, documented in the rock which has emerged and solidified along the mid-Atlantic Ridge where continental plates are slowly separating. These epochs form parallel bands all long the ridge where the rock has stored a fossilized image of the local orientation of the Earth's magnetic field for the last few million years.

‘Once in a lifetime’ cold snap threatens ice-bound Britain

Strong possibility of a white Christmas. 7 Dec 10 - With forecasts of a fresh six inches of snow next week, and with temperatures plummeting as low -20C in Scotland and northern England and Arctic conditions set to continue beyond the 25th, Brits are facing a strong possibility of a white Christmas.

‘This cold spell is a once-in-a-lifetime event," said Brian Gaze, of independent forecaster The Weather Outlook. "We’ll probably never see it again.’

Coldest in central England since 1659
    Meteorologist Joe Bastardi

8 Dec 10 - "The central England Temperature (CET) from the 1st-7th of December is -1.9, making this the coldest opening week of December since 1879," says meteorologist Joe Bastrardi.

With 1879 being the coldest opening week on CET record, this week has been the second coldest opening week to December since CET records began in 1659.

Those records are for a one-week period.

When you look at the two-week period, says Bastardi, the last week of November and the first week of December, it's the coldest since CET records began in 1659.

This puts central England back to the temperatures of the Little Ice Age.

And there's more to come, Bastardi warns.

"Preparation for renewal of extreme cold from France to Scandinavia and west through the UK should be made."

Earth may be entering a new Ice Age
Food shortages may lead to regional warfare

6 Dec 10 - Astrophysicist Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, recently pronounced his belief that Earth will enter a little Ice Age as early as 2014, says this article by Terrence Aym.

Such a period of cooling could last as long as two centuries and be ruinous, Aym warns. "Whereas global warming would be a good thing, a mini-Ice Age could be disastrous: growing seasons would be shortened, more energy must be extended to stay warm, and food shortages may lead to breakouts of regional warfare."

The last little ice age occurred between 1650 and 1850 and "accounted for many crop failures, outbreaks of famines and mass migrations," says Aym.

According to Abdussamatov, "Long-term variations in the amount of solar energy reaching the Earth are the main and principal reasons driving and defining the whole mechanism of climatic changes from the global warmings to the Little Ice Ages to the big glacial periods."

"The Russian scientist is concerned about this move towards an extending cooling period. He states, "and as for what lies ahead in the coming decades, it is not catastrophic warming, but a global, and very prolonged temperature drop."

"If Abdussamatov's calculation is true—and the observable and historical data seem to support it—then the countries of the world are moving exactly in the wrong direction to deal with an impending Ice Age. Al Gore notwithstanding, global cooling is much more dangerous than global warming.

"Future decrease in global temperature will occur even if anthropogenic ejection of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere rises to record levels," says Abdussamatov. "Over the past decade, global temperature on the Earth has not increased; global warming has ceased, and already there are signs of the future deep temperature drop."

    CLIMATE CHANGE

    IRONY ALERT
Irony alert: The unusually chilly global-warming summit Cancun is hosting the U.N. conference on man-made climate change — amid record cold temperatures

POSTED ON DECEMBER 9, 2010, AT 11:57 AM

The irony: As negotiators from nearly 200 countries met in Cancun to strategize ways to keep the planet from getting hotter, the temperature in the seaside Mexican city plunged to a 100-year record low of 54° F.
Climate-change skeptics are gleefully calling Cancun's weather the latest example of the "Gore Effect" — a plunge in temperature they say occurs wherever former Vice President Al Gore, now a Nobel Prize-winning environmental activist, makes a speech about the climate. Although Gore is not scheduled to speak in Cancun, "it could be that the Gore Effect has announced his secret arrival," jokes former NASA scientist Roy W. Spencer.

The reaction: ClimateGate was "bad enough," says Duncan Davidson in Wall Street Pit, but Cancun's weather is particularly "inconvenient" for global-warming alarmists. It's a reminder that global temperatures have "flatlined" despite rising carbon dioxide levels, "which is decidedly chilling against the concept of hampering economic growth to limit Co2 emissions." Grow up, says Tony Juniper in The Independent. "Sure, it's cold outside," but "the trend data show that the world is warming, that the climate is changing, and that the release of greenhouse gases is the cause." The longer we use every cold snap as an excuse to put off reducing emissions, "the bigger the risk we run. Tick tock, tick tock."

Floyd, good question! I'm most likely to choose the beer...or a local version of good beer. As long as we do not overindulge, right? Owning a rifle is not going to protect us from anything. To the survivalists who are hoarding ammo: it's so last century. Instead, give the money to some people who are in need of a hot meal. There are a lot of children who don't have enough to eat right now, in countries across the world and on a street corner near you! This is how we pass through the shift with grace.

Instigator, years ago I learned that CMEs also tend to flare out when a meteor comes close to the sun, Not sure if it was Jim Berkland or the other dude whose name excapes me at the moment who pointed that out. However, from this little bit of recorded sol film I suspect some major storms also happening along with some more quake activity. Jim had previously pointed out that with the moons placement around with the 21st and the tides to expect a quake around a 9 magnitude like last Feb when there was a 9.2 quake in Chile that created tidal waves through out the south paciic. For us in Hawaii there was a lot of preparation due to what happened in 1960 with the 9.5 quake back then, only this time it was only about 3 foot swell. The last significat tidal waves that took place in Hawaii was in 1960, when there was a 9.5 quake in Chile. This size quake may repeat itself, somewhere below the equator some time between 15th and 24st. With the increase in solar activity as a result of comet activity I suspect the possibility of a higher magnitude of quake(s) then what you reported in your previous video.

In addition, I have been having a series of unusual dreams so am curious if others are dreaming too. The one earlier this morning had to do with the evacuation of some people from the planet by ET. I recall reading something from friends with ET contacts, that some ETs will use various earth events to take people from the planet and relocate them elsewhere off-world to another planet. I do not know the timing of this future event but am now having unusual dreams myself and wonder if others are as well. My last nights dream was of evacuation of some from the planet. I actually saw the space ship in the sky (more oval shape) coming down and was outside the window in front of the house. I'm wondering if other members are having unusual dreams and will start a thread on this.

Anyway.. I also know prayer can mitigate potential future events and invite those who are interested to place a protective shield around the planet so we can safely move through this. In fact, it may be a good idea to set up another thread on dreams and portends so members who do dream can have a place to post and share what comes up for them.

Sand, snow, thunderstorms wreak Mideast havoc

By Hala Boncompagni (AFP) – 7 hours ago

CAIRO — Winds, rain, sandstorms and hail battered the southern and eastern Mediterranean on Sunday, killing at least five people, closing ports and disrupting traffic in the Suez Canal.

Drought-stricken countries across the Middle East had been praying for rain for weeks when the weather turned violent at the weekend, with at least five people killed as gale-force winds and torrential rain pounded the coastline.

Winds topped 100 kilometres (60 miles) per hour and waves reached up to 10 metres (32.8 feet) tall as cities in Lebanon and Israel suffered power cuts.

At least three people were killed in Egypt when a factory collapsed in heavy rain in the densely populated northern port city of Alexandria.

Six others were also seriously injured in the collapse, a security official said, adding that 30 people could have been working in the six-storey factory.

The official Egyptian MENA news agency reported that streets in the northern Beheira governorate were inundated and its cities and villages also experienced power cuts.

The storms, which briefly disrupted flight schedules, come after unseasonably high temperatures and a lack of rain ravaged forests across the region and left farmers struggling to survive.

A Cairo airport official said five inbound flights had to be diverted to other airports in Egypt but no decision was made to cancel any departures.

An Italian container ship was also stranded off Egypt's northwestern coast of Marsa Matruh after its engines broke down, with 21 crew on board still waiting to be rescued.

Vessel owner Stefano Messina told the Italian news agency Ansa that a tug boat was on its way from Crete to assist the ship which he said was carrying toxic materials including paint and resins.

"The cargo is safe and cannot provoke an environmental catastrophe. There are 38 containers of paint and resins," Messina was quoted as saying.

Rain and hail whipped across Lebanon as the long-awaited first snowstorm of the year fell on mountains on Sunday -- good news for the country's famed ski resorts but leaving many commuters stranded in icy conditions.

Seaside roads and ports closed on Sunday morning, hours after a 45-year-old woman was killed when a falling palm tree crashed into her car.

The Beirut government evacuated several homes on the coast in the south and placed emergency rescue teams on alert.

In Israel, the body of the Russian tourist blown into the sea on Saturday has been found, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said on Sunday.

Waves of up to seven metres prevented police from carrying out searches for him but "his body later washed ashore on one of the beaches nearby," Rosenfeld said. Two people were also moderately hurt by falling trees, he added.

Public television reported that 30 Israelis had been slightly injured by falling trees and other wind-blown objects on Sunday. In Tel Aviv alone, more than 120 trees were uprooted, it said.

The storm began on Saturday, a week after a devastating forest fire killed 43 people near the northern port city of Haifa which was closed on Sunday. Some flights out of Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport were also disrupted.

A Moldovan freighter also went down in stormy seas some 15 kilometres from Israel's port of Ashdod on Sunday, but its 11 Ukrainian crew members were all rescued unharmed.

In the Golan Heights, an Israeli-occupied plateau which adjoins Syria, snow and rain were abundant but sandstorms were expected in the south of the country, Israel's meteorology department said.

A snowstorm lashed Damascus, disrupting traffic but also bringing some relief from drought which has gripped Syria for the past four years. UN estimates say the drought has affected around 1.3 million Syrians.

Sandstorms also hit the desert countries of Jordan and Egypt and visibility deteriorated while temperatures plummeted.

Jordan was also bracing for heavy rain and snow, which officials warned could lead to flooding.

In Egypt, the bad weather forced several ports to close and disrupted traffic in the Suez Canal, which links the Mediterranean to the Red Sea.

The waterway was hit by poor visibility and winds of up to 40 knots an hour, said an official at the canal, Egypt's third-largest source of foreign revenue after tourism and remittances from expatriate workers.

The authorities barred south-bound ships from entering the waterway, and north-bound traffic from the Red Sea was limited.

I'm in a suburb of Minneapolis, and yeah...it's pretty ridiculous how much snow fell in a short period of time.
I hadn't seen any reports on how much it was, but after digging out of the house I figured it had to be about 20 inches.
We're pretty accustomed to snow around here, but not this much. By my memory, this is the most we've gotten at once in almost 20 years.
And it's cold! Brrrrrr. Large snow falls are pretty rare when it's this cold.

New Cold Blast Invading Eastern U.S. Even More Brutal
    By Heather Buchman, Meteorologist - Dec 12, 2010; 1:09 PM ET|

For more details on just how bad and widespread this arctic blast will be, click on this video at link. While not everyone across the eastern half of the country is dealing with snow or a blizzard this weekend, they will all be facing brutal cold soon if not already.

The coldest air of the season yet is headed for these regions and could end up being the coldest of the entire winter. Many records, especially nighttime lows across the Southeast, will be broken early this week. Painfully cold, arctic air sweeping across the Midwest has already been driving temperatures well-below zero. Temperatures will remain or plunge back below zero in the Upper Midwest with lows between 10 and 20 below zero across much of Iowa, Minnesota, western Wisconsin and the eastern Dakotas tonight.

Tonight into Monday, the bitter cold will overspread the rest of the eastern half of the country, creating a flash freeze in many places where a storm has made roads wet or slushy. While actual temperatures may not fall below zero, horrendous winds will make it feel that way for millions.

Here in southern South America was pretty hot yesterday (Sunday). During the night we had to turn off the fans, ventilators, and pull blankets. Now it's raining and we have strong winds. It is the south wind that comes from Patagonia. I like the South Wind, is strong and cleans the air and thoughts.

Hi monique. Having lived in the freezing cold for 6 months at 22 degrees temperatures on average is what motivated us to move to Hawaii where it generally is in the 70s at our location.

Meanwhile all my other family in England and Oregon may get this for Christmas.

Well a big freeze is what we had in the UK, things are so bad still that most chains have suspended deliveries in Scotland so people will have to go to the High Street! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-11980827

Meanwhile we are being warned that the cold will come, as if -1C in the South East of England is not cold?

After the brief thaw temperatures will again plummet to below freezing by the end of the week, with further snowfall for many areas, but especially northern and western parts.

November saw the UK's most widespread snowfall since 1965, and December has continued to be exceptionally cold and snowy.

With only twelve days left to go, many will be hoping for a white Christmas, while others will be hoping for some respite from the difficulties the heavy snow has brought. http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/hi/news/newsid_9282000/9282009.stm
