This could be the most important thing that you see me post! Its an epidemic this year, and these things are as lethal as a venomous snake in the wrong senerio! Please not only read it, but share it! Make sure we get the word out about these tics and the disease they carry!
It's summer! Time for camping, hiking and getting outside to play. Don't let those pesky annoying ticks stop you. Here's how with a simple homemade solution!
Repellent for your pets:
For pets, add 1 cup of water to a spray bottle, followed by 2 cups of distilled white vinegar. Ticks hate the smell and taste of vinegar, and will be easily be repelled by this ingredient alone. Then, add two spoonfuls of vegetable or almond oil, which both contain sulfur (another natural tick repellent).
To make a repellent that will also deter fleas, mix in a few spoonfuls of lemon juice, citrus oil, or peppermint oil, any of which will repel ticks and fleas while also creating a nicely scented repellent. Spray onto the pet's dry coat, staying away from sensitive areas including eyes, nose, mouth, and genitals. When outdoors for an extended period, spray this solution on two to three times per day.
For you and your family:
In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups of distilled white vinegar and 1 cup of water.
To make a scented solution so you do not smell like bitter vinegar all day, add 20 drops of your favorite essential oil.
Eucalyptus oil is a calm, soothing scent that also works as a tick repellent, while peppermint
and citrus oils give off a strong crisp scent that also repel ticks.
After mixing the solution, spray onto clothing, skin, and hair before going outdoors.
Reapply every four hours to keep ticks at bay, and examine your skin
and hair when back inside to make sure no ticks are on the body.
If you have ever shared anything, please click share on this! WE must get the word spread
about the dangers of Ticks and how to avoid them!

Add dried rosemary to your beef burgers (or any meat burgers) to combat carcinogens (cancer causing agents) and because it gives the burgers an even more fabulous taste. Tip from Pearl for using Rosemary from page 340 of Trim Healthy Mama:
“I try to add rosemary whenever I prepare charred or browned meat. Rosemary is a potent antioxidant. It combats the carcinogens (HCA’s) that are formed when meat is browned or gets charred and crusty. It’s a great idea to add rosemary any time you are trying to get a good crisp on meat but especially important when char grilling.”

Homemade Krispy Kremes
— Yes, this is the actual recipe!
Ingredients:
3 tbsp milk
3 tbsp boiling water
1 tsp dry active yeast
8 oz all purpose flour (a little under 2 cups - I recommend you measure and weigh. See my note above)
1 1/2 oz sugar (about 3 tablespoons)
1 egg
1 oz butter, cold to room temperature (just don't melt it, okay?)
dash of salt
Enough oil to cover the bottom few inches of a wok, or a deep fryer.
Directions:
In a large measuring jug, combine the milk and boiling water.
Add a teaspoon of the sugar and the yeast. Stir it gently,
then leave it in a warm place for the yeast to activate (aka foam).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, the rest of the sugar, and the salt.
Cut in the butter using your fingers or a pastry blender, until it resembles crumbs.
Add the egg (give it a quick beat) and yeast mixture to the flour mix, and mix into a smooth dough.
This usually takes about 5 minutes of mixing.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly-floured counter and knead for about 5 to 10 minutes
—it should feel springy and little bubbles should form under the surface. Place it back in the bowl,
cover with a cloth or plastic wrap, and let rise for about an hour until double in size.
Once risen, place the dough onto the counter and cut it into 4 pieces.
One piece at a time, stretch it into a long rope about an inch to an inch and a half wide.
Cut strips about an inch long, ball em up with your hands, and place them on a baking tray or wire rack to wait.
Cover the doughnuts holes with a cloth to rise while you heat the oil to 375F.
Place the doughnuts into the oil and fry until golden brown on each side, about 2 minutes.
Be sure to fry only a few at a time so they don’t overcrowd and stick together.
Drain on a paper towel or wire rack over a cloth, before glazing them.
Be sure to glaze them warm, or else they won’t get that delicious coverage!
Glaze:
1/3 cup butter
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
4 tablespoons hot water or as needed
A brief note: I recommend a scale, as not all flours (and cup measurements) are made equal.
2 cups of my Canadian flour in my Canadian cups on my scale might be more or less than yours.
If you don't have a scale, start at 1 1/2 cups and work your way up from there.

AUTHENTIC RUTHVEN RECIPE
FOR SCOTTISH SHORTBREAD
- THE "REAL" TASTE of SCOTLAND
Prep Time - approx 13 to 15 minutes
Cook Time - approx 25 to 28 minutes
Total Time - approx 38 to 43 minutes
- let cool, before eating them
Ruthven Scottish Shortbread Cookies
Five main ingredients ...
l lb of softened butter
1 cup of sugar in the raw (not, cheap white sugar)
1 egg yolk
2 tsp real vanilla (do NOT use the artiical stuff)
4 cups all purpose flour
Directions
Heat up your oven to 319° F
Take a large bowl,
put in the butter (which you have already softened)
and, then cut the sugar into the butter
(using knives)
so, the batter comes out
(soft and fluffy)
Do this by hand, and, do NOT do this in a machine
(if you want old fashioned results, then, do it the old fashioned way)
NOW, it is time to add the 'yolk' of the egg
along with the vanilla,
and, continue to cut it into the batter,
until everything is completely mixed...
NOW, it is time to add the 'flour'
and, mix until everything is combined
Divide dough into 2 packs approx 1" thick
and; put in fridge for 2 hours, or; OVERNIGHT
Take out dough out of fridge,
and, let sit on counter for approx 30 minutes prior to rolling it
Lightly flour your counter space - or; your actual working area
and, put some flour on your rolling pin
you are going to roll out dough to approx 3/8" of an inch
NOW, you have 2 choices
1) Roll each pack of dough, into 2 squares - which will be approx 6" x 6" (x 2)
and, you can easily cut these into 36 pieces (1" x 1")
and, put the pieces approx 1" apart on the baking sheet
(which, should be pre-greased - and, lightly dusted with flour)
2) Out of the two pieces you rolled that are 6" x 6"
- lightly grease; and; flour your cookie cutter,
and you can proceed using that cutter to create your choosen shape
(you should be able to get about 72 small shapes-1" x 1"
and, then use your imagination related to decorating them
SINCE YOU PRE-HEATED YOUR OVEN to 315 F
(not, 350, that is too hot for shortbreads)
BAKE FOR APPROX 25 TO 28 MINUTES - until they are starting to lightly brown
REMOVE from OVEN, and, place on wire rack to cool
AFTER they have cooled, you can store them in a glass - air tight container
and, they will be good for approx 14 days - very likely, they will NOT last longer than 3 days !!!

so, the batter comes out
(soft and fluffy)

OMG Susan, you're killing me. I've not had lunch yet and on your Pure Way diet. That looks so good I could almost eat the screen.

THEeXchanger wrote: Easy Homemade Apple Fritters
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup milk
1 egg
1 cup chopped apple
Glaze:
•2 cups powdered sugar
•1 1/2 tablespoons milk
Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, cinnamon. Stir in milk and egg until just combined.
Fold in apple. Pour oil into skillet so that it is approximately 1 1/2 deep.
Heat oil on high. Oil is ready when a little dough thrown in floats to top.
Carefully add dough to oil in heaping teaspoons.
Cook until brown, about 2 minutes, then flip.
Cook another 1-2 minutes, until both sides are browned.
Transfer briefly to paper towels to absorb excess oil, then transfer to cooling rack.
Make glaze by stirring milk and powdered sugar together in a small bowl.
Drizzle over apple fritters. Wait approximately 3 minutes for glaze to harden,
then flip fritters and drizzle glaze over the other side.
Best served warm.
We did make these a few months back and they were delicious.
