Missouri, Arkansas and Illinois have been hit with at least six people dead as a result of the high winds.

A 21-year-old woman and her 64-year-old grandmother died at a farm in Lecoma, in south-central Missouri. Another woman died north of Rolla.

In Arkansas, three people died when a tornado touched down just before sunrise in the hamlet of Cincinnati. An elderly man and his wife died in their home and a 78-year-old man was killed after being caught by the storm while milking cows.

I tend to take all of this in stride metaw3 as we don't know what will happen. Dr. LaViolette thinks a pole shift will happen. Even Astralwalker talked of this yet, Andrew Basiago said he went to the future in 2043 and it was lovely. So who knows what will transpire. I think that there are trends we can look at and make speculations - yet a speculation is not a factoid. It's only a guess based on some data (not all data) which suggests a specific outcome.

I still think the human equation is being left out in a significant way. We really don't know what will happen until it does happen. Meanwhile, all the rest is still up in the air and we shall continue to use our intention towards constructive outcomes.

India shivers in deadly cold snap - 1/3/11

An intense spell of cold weather has disrupted life across northern India, reportedly claiming two dozen lives.

The capital, Delhi, has been badly hit by the cold snap, along with Indian-administered Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

In Leh in Kashmir, temperatures dropped to -23.6C - this winter's lowest - on Sunday, weather officials said.

Delhi, which is experiencing one of its coldest winters in years, has been hit by thick fog which disrupted flights.

Sunday was Delhi's coldest day this winter with temperatures dipping to 7.8C - cold by the standards of the Indian capital.

Indian homes rarely have central heating - a regular feature in buildings in the West.

The cold wave is being felt most intensely in Kashmir with the summer capital, Srinagar, recording sub-zero temperatures.

The highway linking Kashmir with the rest of India has been shut due to snowfall, officials said.

Homeless people have taken to gathering around street fires to try to keep warm and the night shelters for the poor in Delhi are overflowing.

Five more people - including a 70-year-old man and a two year-old boy - suffered cold-related deaths in Uttar Pradesh, reports said.

The Press Trust of India news agency reported three more cold-related deaths in Indian-administered Kashmir.

The Arkansas Geological Survey is trying to unravel a mystery: What is causing earthquakes in the town of Guy, Arkansas?

Since September 20, the community of 549 residents north of Little Rock has experienced an almost constant shaking from 487 measurable earthquakes.

"We've had 15 today including a 3.1 (magnitude) from this morning," Scott Ausbrooks, geohazards supervisor for the Geological Survey, said Monday. "These are shallow quakes between two and eight kilometers (between one-and-a-quarter and five miles) below the surface."

While earthquakes aren't unusual in the Southeast state, the frequency is.

"This time last year we had 39 quakes total for the entire state," said Ausbrooks.

Most of the quakes in the swarm -- a localized surge of earthquakes with all of them about the same magnitude, according to the United States Geological Survey -- are so small they go unnoticed. The largest, a 4.0 on October 11, caused the only documented damage, cracking a window at a visitor's center to a state park.

This area is in the New Madrid area. An earthquake in this area would be way more catastrophic than other areas because the underground is not very elastic.


Anyways is someone targeting this area with a Haarp weapon, trying to cause a major earthquake??

Australian flooding
Seasonal flooding across eastern Australia has been widespread and devastating this spring - their wettest on record. Cyclone Tasha came along two weeks ago, and dumped even more water on Queensland. Hundreds of thousands of people in an area the size of France and Germany combined are now affected, and at least nine people have been killed so far. Authorities are working to evacuate some communities and airlift supplies to others as the water level is expected to continue rising over the next two days and 38 regions were declared natural disaster areas. For all we know some of it may be scaler from above and not harp. The reason being all the fish dying as well all over the globe and not just from the cold water in Chesapeake. What about what is going on in the Gulf of Mexico? Is some of this down in Brazil fallout from that? We'll just have to wait for the test results.

What in the world is happening in the middle of the United States right now? Thousands of birds are falling dead from the skies, tens of thousands of fish are washing up on shore dead, earthquakes are popping up in weird and unexpected places and people are starting to get really freaked out about all of this.

Well, one theory is that the New Madrid fault zone is coming to life. The New Madrid fault zone is six times bigger than the San Andreas fault zone in California and it covers portions of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. The biggest earthquakes in the history of the United States were caused by the New Madrid fault. Now there are fears that the New Madrid fault zone could be coming to life again, and if a "killer earthquake" does strike it could change all of our lives forever.

VICTORIA — Horrified nature-lovers at Goldstream Provincial Park watched as the Goldstream River turned bright green late Wednesday afternoon.

The fluorescent green colouring appeared to start about 500 metres on the Victoria side of the entrance to the park and, over the course of an hour, the substance flowed down into the environmentally sensitive estuary.

By 5:30 p.m. the river, known for its dramatic salmon runs, eagles and other wildlife, was back to its normal colour.

Ministry of Environment teams were immediately sent to the area to investigate and members of Langford Fire Department collected samples for analysis.

No dead fish or animals had been found by early evening.

Earlier in the day a fountain beside Veterans Memorial Parkway in Langford also turned bright green, said Langford Fire Chief Bob Beckett.

First, it was birds falling from the sky, then thousands of dead fish washing up on shore.

Now, more than 40,000 Velvet swimming crabs have wound up dead on England beaches. The possible reason? Hypothermia.

The Thanet shoreline is littered with the crabs, along with dead starfish, lobsters, sponges and anemones.

The crabs benefit from warm seas, but when winter hits and snow covers the beaches, they just can’t handle the freezing temperatures, Tony Child, Thanet Coast Project manager, told the Star.

“It is a horrendous crash in the population,” he said, adding similar crab deaths happened in the same place two years and five years ago.

“During the winter . . . they come closer to the shore . . . foraging where the seaweed is,” he said.

“There are more starfish this year that have been casualties. Lobsters have been washed in a bit frozen. Seagulls are doing quite well at the moment.”

The creatures started washing up when snow blasted Europe shortly before Christmas, he said.

Some local experts are researching the dead crabs, but Child said nothing can be done to prevent the massive number of deaths.

“It’s just part of the circle of life,” he said.

Meanwhile, about 50 jackdaw birds were found dead Wednesday on a street in Stockholm, Sweden.

A veterinarian investigating the incident told the Associated Press their cause of death is unknown but that there were fireworks in the area Tuesday night.

Along with shock from the fireworks, the vet listed cold weather and difficulty finding food as possible reasons for the deaths.

These recent animal deaths join the thousands of others in the last week in the United States.

On Tuesday, 450 birds plummeted to their deaths in Louisiana for apparently no reason.

Some of these grackles, starlings, brown-headed cowbirds and red-winged blackbirds may have flown into a power line, officials said.

On New Year’s Eve, more than 3,000 red-winged blackbirds inexplicably fell from the skies in Arkansas.

Officials have acknowledged it is unlikely they will ever determine a cause.

Wildlife experts just west of where the blackbirds were found are still trying to figure out why 100,000 drum fish washed up on the shores of the Arkansas River.

A pollutant would have affected all fish, not just the one species, so investigators suspect the fish were stricken by an illness.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Thousands of dead fish were floating in Volusia County Tuesday. They were all in Spruce Creek in Port Orange. The fish kill is unusual because it is warm, according to people who live along the creek.

It's been a week since there were freezing temperatures, but there are fish lining the banks. Some said it's the worst kill they've ever seen; thousands of fish lined the twists and turns of Spruce Creek.
The sheer number of fish and the smell were both overwhelming. "It was fun last night trying to sleep with the smell going on," said resident Sunny Morningstar."Even with your windows closed and everything?" WFTV reporter Jason Allen asked. "Yes, yes," Morningstar said.

UPDATE: Dead birds on bridge is a natural occurrence - Posted: Jan 05, 2011 6:18 AM
UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A large number of dead birds spotted on the Hwy 155 bridge near Ore City is most likely a natural occurrence in the area and not related to the mysterious bird deaths in Arkansas and Louisiana.

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Media Communication Director, Tom Harvey, it is not uncommon to see dozens of dead birds on this bridge, including the American Coots here.

The Corps of Engineers office at Lake O' the Pines says they are not exactly sure why this happens, but it appears likely the birds are walking or roosting or flying on and around the bridge and many of them probably get hit and killed by motor vehicles.

The American Coots, which roost under the bridge, are prey for eagles and spook easily. When spooked they fly out from under the bridge in large masses, which explains why such a large number birds could be hit at one time.

Greg Conley, a TPWD staffer, said he has seen a similar situation involving multiple dead birds on bridges and roadways around Lake Fork. So, this appears to be a normal occurrence, not related to the Arkansas "birds."

Shift of Earth's magnetic north pole impacts Tampa airport

TAMPA - Scientists say the magnetic north pole is moving toward Russia and the fallout has reached -- of all places -- Tampa International Airport.

The airport has closed its primary runway until Jan. 13 to repaint the numeric designators at each end and change taxiway signage to account for the shift in location of the Earth's magnetic north.

The closure of the west parallel runway will result in more activity on the east parallel runway and more noise for residential areas of south Tampa.

The busiest runway will be re-designated 19R/1L on aviation charts. It's been 18R/36L, indicating its alignment along the 180-degree approach from the north and the 360-degree approach from the south.

Later this month, the airport's east parallel runway and the seldom used east-west runway will be closed to change signage to their new designations.

The Federal Aviation Administration required the runway designation change to account for what a National Geographic News report described as a gradual shift of the Earth's magnetic pole at nearly 40 miles a year toward Russia because of magnetic changes in the core of the planet.
