    X1.7 and long duration M6.6 solar flares erupt from Region 3664, solar radiation storm in progress - May 14, 2024

    Active Region 3664 — the source of numerous Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) over the past 7 days — began its transit of the western limb on May 13, 2024. The region remains very active, producing a long-duration M6.6 flare on May 13, associated with an Earth-directed CME, and an X1.7 at 02:09 UTC on May 14. Meanwhile, a solar radiation storm is in progress due to activity associated with the same region.

    A powerful solar flare measuring X1.7 erupted from Active Region 3664 at 02:09 UTC on May 14, 2024. The event started at 02:03 and ended at 02:19 UTC.

    A Type II (estimated velocity 447 km/s) and Type IV radio emissions were associated with this flare — suggesting a strong CME was produced. However, it seems it’s not heading toward Earth.

    Radio frequencies were forecast to be most degraded over East Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Ocean at the time of the flare.

    At 09:44 UTC on May 13, the same region produced a long-duration M6.6 solar flare, associated with a Type II (estimated velocity of 683 km/s) and Type IV radio sweeps as well as a 1 200 sfu Tenflare.

    “This event resulted in an asymmetric halo CME with a southwesterly bias, first seen in SOHO C2 coronagraph imagery beginning at approximately 09:12 UTC on May 13,” SWPC forecasters said.

    “While a majority of the bulk material is expected to miss well ahead of Earth’s orbit, shock arrival followed by possible glancing effects can not be ruled out for May 14 -15 as this particular CME is relatively fast and expansive.”

    Massive dust storm engulfs Mumbai, killing at least 14 and injuring 74 - May 13, 2024

    A catastrophic dust storm swept through Mumbai, India, on Monday, May 13, 2024, beginning at 15:00 local time and persisting for more than two hours. The storm claimed the lives of at least 14 individuals and injured over 70 others, wreaking havoc across the city.

    Mumbai was struck by a severe dust storm on May 13, a rare event for the coastal city, resulting in significant casualties and infrastructure damage.     Four killed, 2.2 million without power as severe storms hit Houston, Texas - May 17, 2024

    Four people were killed and about 2.2 million people lost power as intense thunderstorms swept through Texas on May 16, 2024. The storms brought heavy rain, destructive winds, and dangerous flooding to already inundated areas.

    Intense thunderstorms swept through Texas on Thursday, May 16, bringing heavy rain, destructive winds, and dangerous flooding, particularly in the already inundated Southeast Texas.

    The severe weather event left four people dead and resulted in approximately 2.2 million residents across the state without power — most of them from the Houston area.

    Houston Mayor John Whitmire confirmed 4 fatalities during a news briefing on Thursday night while Fire Chief Samuel Peña reported that at least two individuals were killed by falling trees and one person died in an accident involving a crane toppled by the strong winds.

    “We have a storm with 160 km/h (100 mph) winds, the equivalent of Hurricane Ike, causing considerable damage downtown,” Whitmire stated.

    Damage reports from downtown Houston include blown-out windows, twisted metal signposts, a collapsed office building wall, and downed power lines.

    The public school district in Houston announced the closure of all schools on Friday while emergency responders urged residents to stay home due to numerous downed traffic lights and live power lines obstructing major highways.

    Mayor Whitmire indicated that power restoration efforts could take between 24 to 48 hours in some parts of the city.

    Severe storms over the past few days have caused historic rainfall and significant damage in northern Italy, particularly affecting the regions of Veneto and Lombardy. Milan experienced its heaviest rainfall in 170 years, leading to widespread flooding and travel disruptions.

    In Milan, Lombardy, two rivers burst their banks on May 15 and 16 after the city experienced what is reported as ‘the heaviest rainfall in 170 years.’

    The Lambro was the first river to exceed its banks, overflowing first in some Milanese neighborhoods and then in Monza Park, ANSA reported. The Seveso River broke its banks late afternoon (LT) on May 16.

    “In Ponte Lambro, we have 170 people without electricity,” said the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala. “We are also finding an emergency solution for tonight…” In Rilke Street, fire brigade divers intervened to help a disabled woman who could not leave her house. The fallen trees also hampered public transport.

    Cars in a car park in Monza were submerged in water and several nursery schools and schools were evacuated. The mayor of the the city, Paolo Pilotto, urged residents citizens not to use their cars. In Bernareggio, Monza, a retaining wall collapsed and as a precaution, the three families living in an adjacent building were evacuated.

    A violent supercell thunderstorm in the late afternoon of May 16, accompanied by very violent gusts of wind (likely exceeding 150 – 200 km/h or 93 – 124 mph), caused the freight train to overturn in Borgo Matovano, a municipality in the Province of Mantua, Lombardy, InMeteo reported, adding that observations suggest the presence of a tornadic vortex within the thunderstorm supercell.

    “Shocking images from the area show numerous overturned freight train carriages and other damage in the surrounding areas. It is not excluded that this damage was caused by a more extreme meteorological event, such as a tornado. However, at the moment we favor the hypothesis of intense linear gusts, probably close to if not exceeding 150 km/h (93 mph).”

    3 M Class flares, last week was an X10. Sunspots still alive. Big CME won't hit earth but is targeting Venus and Jupiter will hit solar orbiter and satellites Bey. 22.5 S in Africa hasn't seen a aurora since 1989.



    Solar Storms Make EXTREME Weather
    It's all about Atmospheric electricity amplified by that solar energy solar flaring CME impact. Geomagnetic storms all trigger amplification of the electric energy and dynamics of the system. The critical aspect is that the solar energy coming into the earth system first amplifies the downward current of the global electric circuit which then amplifies everything here at the ground level. You can't introduce electricity into a circuit not impact the entirety of the circuit and that is what precisely dozens of studies have shown the atmospheric pressure wind, rain, lightening and overall storm energy including duros like we just saw hit Houston are all amplified by the solar energy coming down through the circuit. This happens over much shorter time scales than a Radiance heating about 3 to 10 days which is why at then end of the solar storm last weekend we said we were in a 10-day alert for extreme to severe weather outbreaks. This electro dynamic system is what 100% is left out of all weather models and don't even try to talk to a climate zealot about this but here's what you need to know. High pressure cells and lows not only spins opposite ways but the high pressure cells spin outward and the low pressure cells spin inward but that's not all. In high pressure the air descends and in low pressure it rises like a tornado only slower and spanning hundreds to thousands of square miles. The impact of the sun on this global electric circuit which was already well understood was confirmed just a few months ago in a critical analysis in the journal space weather showing that the CME impact in Forbush decrease directly juice up the atmospheric electricity and the electric circuit up and down movement. Again, this can be solar flare energy. The particles from a coronal mass ejection in the Van Allens Belt or the energy spread globally by Auroral outburst during geomagnetic storms, all of them take the current and amplify it. If you can picture these systems speeding up and carrying much more energy this moves the ambient air directly modulating the atmospheric pressure confirmed this year directly impacting thunderstorm cells. Confirmed again this year and amplifying rainfall and downdrafts to extreme levels. Confirmed once again late last year. You're getting the picture, right? A few brave scientists are beginning to go agains the grain and making these same correlations to severe individual outbreaks breaking down the extreme ification of weather to levels that cause significant damage. The studies are getting more detailed and they show the same thing. The sun takes normal weather and makes it extreme. So with record breaking solar storms last weekend it would have been strange not to see at least one severe outbreak this week. It's exactly what we saw  and with several days left in the alert window, I wouldn't sleep on the alerts for the coming few days both in the US and across the world.

    An extreme hailstorm hit Yuma, Colorado on Monday, May 20, 2024, causing massive damage to homes and cars. Hail accumulation was so thick that some cars ended up stuck in hail drifts.

    An unusually intense hailstorm with hail stones the size of a softball hit the town of Yuma (population 3 500) on Monday, May 20, 2024, wreaking havoc on homes, cars, and power lines, and plunging the area into chaos.

    Yuma was already on edge with tornado and flash flood warnings in place when the storm struck.

    The intensity of the storm was so severe that some vehicles became trapped in thick drifts of hail.

Local Earthquake monitoring network has detected around 150 quakes within the next couple of hours, with the strongest being M4.4 — now the strongest quake to hit the caldera region since the beginning of the current bradyseismic crisis in 2005. Preventive evacuations have thus far affected 36 families. Campi Flegrei is a 13 km (8 km) wide caldera encompassing part of Naples and extending beneath the Gulf of Pozzuoli. It is the largest active urbanized caldera in the heart of the European continent and is classified as a supervolcano due to its potential for producing extremely large and explosive eruptions, as evidenced by past events like the Campanian Ignimbrite and Neapolitan Yellow Tuff eruptions.

    Severe thunderstorms hit Kansas and Oklahoma with strong winds, baseball-sized hail and tornadoes - May 20, 2024

    Severe thunderstorms swept through the central U.S. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, producing strong winds and heavy rains, baseball-sized hail, and several tornadoes in Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

    Severe thunderstorms will continue to be likely across the Central Plains into the Midwest on Monday, May 20, NWS warns.
    Thunderstorm development is also possible in portions of the Middle Mississippi Valley to Lower Michigan on Monday afternoon (LT).

    Severe thunderstorms battered the central United States on Sunday, May 19, 2024, resulting in significant damage across several states. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued multiple Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, and Flash Flood warnings as the storms brought strong winds, heavy rains, and large hail, as well as multiple tornadoes.

    The NWS Storm Prediction Center reported 13 tornadoes in Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma on Sunday.

    One tornado crossed Interstate 70 west of Russell, Kansas, causing substantial damage to the electric distribution system, homes, businesses, and vehicles, with at least three structures leveled.

    Widespread damage was also reported around Wichita, Kansas, where winds reached 120 km/h (75 mph), FOX Weather reported.

    The town of Newton, north of Wichita, was hit particularly hard, and winds up to 130 km/h (80 mph) were reported in Whitewater, northeast of Wichita. A wind gust of 160 km/h (100 mph) was reported at the airport in Salina, Kansas, on Sunday evening, and a gust of 145 km/h (90 mph) near Fowler, Kansas.

    Hail between 6.4 cm and 7.6 cm (tennis ball- and baseball-sized) was reported with several storms. The largest hail reported to the NWS on Sunday evening was 7.6 cm (3 inches) in Ellis, Kansas.

    Parts of northwest India are experiencing severe heatwave conditions on Saturday, May 18, 2024, with the capital New Delhi under a Red alert as very high temperatures strike parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department has issued warnings for several states, anticipating persistent heat wave conditions over the next 5 days.

    A severe heatwave has gripped northwest India this week, including the capital New Delhi where a Red alert is in effect as extreme temperatures sweep through. The forecast calls for a gradual rise in temperatures over the next few days in Central India, East India, and Maharashtra, with heatwave conditions expected to persist in specific pockets across different states.

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for several states, urging residents in affected regions to remain cautious and apply preventive measures to combat the heat.

    The Red alert areas, encompassing West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, are facing a very high risk of heat-related illnesses and heat strokes in the days ahead, particularly posing a threat to vulnerable individuals. Extreme care and precautionary measures are strongly advised in these regions.

    The epicenter was located 162 km (100 miles) WSW of Nikolski and 1 609 km (1 000 miles) SW of Anchorage, Alaska, U.S.

    Ongoing Earthquake Swarm at Campi Flegrei Volcano. Campi Flegrei has a Volcanic Explosive Index of 7, this is at least 100x more powerful than it's "small" - in comparison - neighbor Vesuvius who destroyed Pompei in 79 d.C. This was the biggest explosion in the Mediterranean in the calculated last 1 million years. Last (small) eruption was in 1538. In less than a month, the magmatic eruptions reached 133mt high and went to create the so called Monte Nuovo (new mountain). The small swarm of earthquakes alone raised the surrounding city by 4 meters in altitude.

    Those living in Europe should all be very fearful of this Monster, all studies suggest that its terrain has reached it's maximum elasticity and it's now starting to breach with the build up pressure, meaning it will wake up anytime soon, possibly in the few upcoming years.

    If you check the map the caldera is not visible in the terrain but it's a huge circle that surrounds the whole peninsula, about 5 times the size of Mount Vesuvius.

    The world's largest volcano lurks beneath the Pacific Ocean Tamu Massif, the enormous mound dwarfs the previous record holder, Hawaii's Mauna Loa, and is only 25 percent smaller than Olympus Mons on Mars, the biggest volcano in Earth's solar system, said William Sager, lead study author and a geologist at the University of Houston.

    GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH (G1): Minor G1-class geomagnetic storms are possible on May 26th when a CME might graze Earth's magnetic field. The CME was hurled into space on May 23rd (0640 UTC) by an erupting filament of magnetism near the center of the solar disk (S15E05).

    ROCKS AND SOIL ELECTRIFIED BY THE SUPERSTORM: Across the USA on May 10th and 11th, sky watchers marveled at bright displays of aurora borealis during the biggest geomagnetic storm in decades. Little did they know, something was also happening underfoot.

    Strong electrical currents were surging through rocks and soil. The biggest voltages along the US eastern seaboard and in the Midwest were as much as 10,000 times normal.     Back in March 1989, voltages only a little stronger than the ones shown above brought down the entire Hydro-Québec power system. The resulting Great Québec Blackout plunged millions of Canadians into darkness.

    This time, however, power grids stayed up. "We haven't heard of any serious problems so far," reports Christopher Balch of NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center.

    Balch leads an effort at NOAA to model geoelectric fields during solar storms. The map, above, is a snapshot from a real-time display that takes into account the 3D conductivity of the Earth and ongoing geomagnetic activity. A computer at the Space Weather Prediction Center crunches the data to produce minute-by-minute estimates of electricity in the ground.

    "I started working on this in 2011 after a NOAA Space Weather Workshop where representatives from the power industry asked for a geoelectric field model," recalls Balch. "It's a collaboration between NOAA, the US Geological Survey and others; we now have a version that covers much of Canada and the United States"

    When researchers talk about geoelectric fields they use units of volts per km (V/km). Earth's crust naturally contains quiet-time fields measuring as little as 0.01 V/km. During geomagnetic storms, these values skyrocket.

    "On May 10-11, geoelectric amplitudes exceeded 10 V/km in Virginia and 9 V/km in the upper Midwest," says Jeffrey Love, a key member of the collaboration at the USGS. "These are very high. For comparison, we estimate that geoelectric amplitudes reached almost 22 V/km in Virginia during the March 1989 storm."

    This means the May 2024 storm was, electrically speaking, about half as intense as the storm that blacked out Québec 35 years ago. That's too close for comfort. "Although power companies have taken measures to improve the resilience of their systems, no one would welcome another storm as intense as that of March 1989," says Love.

    On this beautiful memorial day we are receiving a lot of energy into the root chakra. This is very intense energy. That’s bringing up a lot of insecurities for acknowledgment and release. At some point, you have to make the choice to choose you. Leaving behind those insecurities that don’t belong to you is the first step.

    Schumann resonance is a measurement that tracks the electromagnetic frequency of our planet within the ionosphere. This energy, circling as a wave between the ionosphere and the earth, bumps into itself amplifying frequencies and turning them into resonant waves. The discovery of these resonant waves was made in 1952 by W.O. Schumann, a German physicist, hence where the Schumann resonance gets its name.

    In simpler terms, we don’t live on the earth, we live inside it – in a cavity of sorts. Yesterday, it announced its return with an X2.8-class solar flare. Amateur astronomer Michael Karrer was watching the sun when the explosion occured, and he captured this picture of flying debris:

    "I have not seen an explosion like this in my 40 years of observing the sun," says Karrer. "So fast, so far out into space! It was gigantic."

    The explosion caused a deep shortwave radio blackout over east Asia and hurled a bright CME into space. A NASA model of the CME confirms that it will miss Mercury, Venus and Earth. None of the inner planets will be affected by this powerful event.

The sunspot has decayed during its 2-week trip around the farside of the sun. Even reduced, the sunspot remains capable of powerful explosions. Just two days ago it emitted an X2.8-class solar flare and it is now crackling with low-level M-flares.

    THE GREEN GLOW OF SOLAR MAXIMUM: Spoiler alert: These are *not* auroras. On May 28th, a band of green light crossed the Milky Way over the Colorado backcountry.     GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH (G2): NOAA forecasters say that G2-class geomagnetic storms are possible on May 31st when a CME hurled into space by yesterday's X-flare grazes Earth's magnetic field. This forecast is uncertain. NOAA's model predicts a stiff glancing blow, while NASA's model suggets a near miss. If an impact does occur, the resulting storm could extend into June 1st.

    CME STRIKE SPARKS MINOR STORM: As predicted, a CME grazed Earth's magnetic field on June 3rd (2300 UT). The glancing blow sparked a minor G1-class geomagnetic storm. The storm is over now and no more CMEs are heading our way.

    X1.4 solar flare erupts from Region 3697
    A strong solar flare measuring X1.4 erupted from Region 3697 (ex 3664) at 08:48 UTC on June 1, 2024. The event started at 08:26 and ended at 08:58 UTC. There were no radio signatures detected that would suggest a coronal mass ejection (CME) was produced during this event.

    A 10cm Radio Burst (tenflare) with a peak flux of 210 sfu was detected from 08:45 to 08:46 UTC. This indicates that the electromagnetic burst associated with a solar flare at the 10cm wavelength was double or greater than the initial 10cm radio background. It can be indicative of significant radio noise in association with a solar flare. This noise is generally short-lived but can cause interference for sensitive receivers including radar, GPS, and satellite communications.

    Radio frequencies were forecast to be most degraded over Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and most of Asia at the time of the flare. The region has a ‘beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic configuration and is capable of producing more strong to major eruptions on the Sun.

    Sydney has been inundated with more than a month’s rain in less than 24 hours over the weekend, causing flash floods in parts of the city. The rain was driven by a rapidly deepening low pressure system over the Tasman Sea. According to Weatherzone, the low formed on Saturday and intensified so quickly that its central pressure dropped by 19 hPa during the 24 hours ending at 16:00 LT on Sunday.

    “At Sydney’s latitude, this rate of pressure change was enough to classify the system as a ‘bombing low’, which is the name given to mid-latitude low pressure system that deepens rapidly in a process called explosive bombogenesis,” Weatherzones Ben Domasino noted. This was the second bombing low pressure system near Australia in one week after another low deepened by 30 hPa in 24 hours over the Great Australian Bight from May 29 into May 30.

    Heavy monsoon rains claim 17 lives, force school closures in Sri Lanka - June 4, 2024
    Heavy monsoon rains battered many parts of Sri Lanka since Sunday, flooding homes, fields, and roads, and forcing authorities to close schools and cut electricity as a precaution. The Education Ministry announced that schools will reopen only when weather conditions improve.

    “This intense destruction and disruption could bring huge long-term damage to children’s lives,” said Julian Chellappah, Country Director for Save the Children in Sri Lanka. “A combination of the pandemic and economic crisis has affected children’s education, with increase in school dropouts.”

    Sri Lanka’s State Minister of Defense, Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, reported on June 3, that recent floods in the country have caused at least 12 fatalities and impacted over 87 000 people. Unfortunately, the death toll kept rising and reached 17 on Tuesday, June 4.

    Navy and army troops have been deployed to rescue victims and provide food and other essentials to those affected.
