    GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH (G3): A CME is heading for Earth following the powerful X7.1-class solar flare of Oct. 1st. A NOAA model predicts [i]it will arrive on Oct. 4th, potentially causing a strong G3-class geomagnetic storm. The CME is quite faint and superficially wouldn't seem to pack the punch required for a strong storm.     Radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere and caused a deep shortwave blackout over Africa and the South Atlantic. Ham radio operators in the area may have noticed loss of signal at frequencies below 30 MHz for as much as a half an hour after 12:18 UTC.

    According to a NASA model, this CME will strike Earth on Oct. 6th, adding its effect to that of an earlier CME expected to arrive on Oct. 4th or 5th. Auroras are therefore likely this weekend.

    A SOLAR ECLIPSE OVER EASTER ISLAND: Hours after Eliot Herman saw Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (C/2023 A3) over Easter Island, he saw an annular solar eclipse:

    "We dodged lots of clouds, but everyone on Easter Island saw the eclipse," says Herman. "Being a long eclipse with a small Moon, it did not get very dark, but the view through my Questar telescope was great."

    Annular eclipses occur when the Moon is a little too small to cover the entire sun. All around the circumference of the Moon, the sun peeks out from behind lunar craters and mountain ranges, producing a ring-of-fire effect.

    CHANCE OF MORE X-FLARES TODAY: The solar disk is filled with big sunspots. Three of them (3842, 3843, 3848) have unstable 'delta-class' magnetic fields that harbor energy for strong solar flares. NOAA forecasters estimate a 75% chence of M-class flares and a 35% chance of X-flares during the next 24 hours.

    The other two CMEs (#1 and #3) are less potent. By themselves they might not cause much of a storm.     Cosmic Frequency News 3 October 2024 – Flares On An Intense High

    A Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) originally projected to arrive on October 5th, is now expected earlier — on tomorrow, October 4th.

    It is so powerful that it is expected to produce a “G3” geomagnetic storm — perhaps even a higher level. One of the most troublesome symptoms or activations from these high-powered flares and CMEs is the inability to sleep well at night.

    I’m just east of Naples in SW Florida. The waters in the gulf are the warmest I’ve ever felt in 17 years of living here. Hurricanes from this angle are the worst for us. Not good.
    We’ve also had storms this weekend. My son saw greenish blue and red lightning Saturday night. He didn’t know what it was. I showed him Ben’s post four days ago explaining this new phenomenon.

    This is footage from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in the northeastern most county of Tennessee, Johnson County. This area is poor and sparsely populated. The news isn't covering it and the politicians aren't visiting. Homes are gone, churches were washed away, roads are gone and homes are cut off. Many people are still without power. There are families living in tents and the harsh mountain winter is coming.

    The people of Johnson County are strong determined folks, who are doing everything they can to help one another. Every farmer with a tractor was out helping. Every neighbor with a chainsaw was cutting the endless downed trees. The heavy equipment you saw toward the end of the video belongs to a local construction company. They have been running nonstop repairing washed out roads so their neighbors could get out and lineman could get in to restore power. We passed crew after crew of lineman. We were told that the trees were cleared from the roads so all this work could start by Team Rubicon, a veteran lead humanitarian organization and the US Forest Service. A portion of The Cherokee National Forest is in Johnson County. The campgrounds, picnic areas, roads and especially the streams and rivers inside the National Forest have all been damaged in both Tennessee and North Carolina.

    We and I mean all of us together are going to do what we can to help those survived by the disaster of Hurricane Helene. You are their hope. With winds of 225 km/h (140 mph), the tornado lifted a construction dumpster into the air and tossed it on top of a home in Regency Community at Avenir.

    Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms caused severe flooding in the Mecca (Makkah) region, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Warnings were issued for 8 regions including Madinah, Makkah, and Jazan.

    Intense downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms, caused severe flooding in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday. Regions including the Eastern Province, Madinah, Asir, Jazan, Al-Baha, Hail, and Tabuk were also affected.

    Parts of Madinah and Jazan were also affected by torrents, thunderbolts, high-speed winds, and dust. Several warnings were issued through an early warning system by local authorities across the affected regions.
