It is my hope and prayer that in this letter I may convey to you my deepest grief over the fur trade in China. Dogs and cats and other animals are skinned alive....ALIVE! This is well documented and there is much proof of this horrific practice in these meat markets. Animals are living, sentient beings and they feel every bit of fear and pain in this brutal and inhumane death. These animals are beat and clubbed so that they are somewhat unconscious and then a slit is placed in their fur only enough for a finger to force the rest of their skin to be removed as the animal writhes in pain. This is animal abuse of the worst kind. I cannot imagine the horror of the last moments of these vulnerable and helpless animals. I have heard it said that the Chinese people do not regard animals as anything but things to be unjustly and immorally treated to achieve only profit. Is this true sir?

In the discovery of human cruelty in China, the face of China has become face of horror to many United States citizens who see animals as the valuable and faithful friends they are. I ask that you, the spokesperson for China, would change the countenance of China's face from horror and unimaginable cruelty to one of compassion and mercy for these animals. At present there are no animal welfare laws that would provide protection and justice for these animals being skinned daily.

I ask that you urge China to enact an animal welfare law that will prohibit the cruel handling of dogs and cats and other animals at the markets and during transportation.

I urge you to stand as a voice of compassion for these animals so that the United States and China could stand as allies against such incredible brutality and inhumanity against living, breathing and feeling beings. I believe that you are a man of courage and compassion, two lethal weapons against the evil perpetrated on these animals and I have every confidence in what you will do to stop the fur trade brutality.

I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People, a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support.

Will you add your name to mine? If this petition gets 25,000 signatures by November 24, 2011,
the White House will review it and respond!

We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

You can view and sign the petition here:

http://www.change.org/petitions/universal-declaration-of-animal-rights-revised-2011#share

Universal Declaration of Animal Rights, Revised 2011[u

Why this is Important

Given the last time the UDAR was updated was in 1989.
We believe it is way past time it be brought up to date for the year 2011.

Let us first state the definition of "Sentience"

we know that animals are sentient, that they feel pain and pleasure and that they have interests of their own that have nothing to do with being a mere resource for humans. Joyce Tischler - ALDF

What exactly makes human beings sentient and animals looked on as property, "not sentient" Are we not intelligent enough now, in the 21st century. To realize, that yes, like human beings, animals have all the 5 senses we do.

They see, hear, smell, taste and touch. They bleed as we bleed, feel pain as we feel pain. Not only physical, but emotional as well. They are Aware of themselves. Are capable of emotions: anger, sadness, love, joy, happiness, grief. They have minds that are intelligent, capable of learning, thinking, figuring out how to do things. They have a language, just as we do. Although we may not understand their language. That does not make it any less valid. They, understand each other. And it seems, often understand us and our language far better than we are capable of understanding theirs.

And so it stands to reason. That only the Arrogance of humanity, can justify "using", "owning", "looking upon" animals as property, to be done with however we choose. The time has come for this to change. Human beings are not "Better" than "animals" . We are merely Different. And there is no longer a justification to interfere with their right to life.

Hence we propose, the Revised Edition
Universal Declaration of Animal Rights

Stop Animal Testing In Germany! Example: The LPT (Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology)

The LPT (Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology) is one of the largest contract laboratories in Germany.
On their website, they openly state that they carry out tests on the following animals:mice, rats, rabbits, guinea-pigs, hamsters, dogs, monkeys, pigs, cats, fish and birds. They also state that chemicals may be tested on these animals in the following ways: oral (diet, capsule, gavage) intraperitoneal intravenous injection, i.v. and s.c. infusion, dermal, inhalation, intravaginal, intraarticular, rectal and conjunctival sac administration.
One can only imagine the pain a living being is experiencing during these tests. The animals suffer daily until they die one day - not one animal leaves this laboratory alive! They either die during the tests or are killed afterwards.

The native indigenous people of the Xingu river of the Amazon Rainforest are being threatened with destruction. These people have lived in Xingu river for thousands of years in a sustainable manner with the beautiful rainforest which they co-exist with and provides them with what they need. They depend on fish from the Xingu river and from the lands which surround it to grow their crops. We would be taking away the ability of these people to feed themselves, and destroying their traditional way of life as they have lived for thousands years. These are some of the last remaining pre-columbian people, who still live the way they did before arrival of Europeans, who have escaped European conquest, until now. We have lost and disrupted the traditional way of life of most native peoples in the past, it is now time to not repeat the wrongs of the past. All of these things are being threatened, and the traditional way of life and culture of some of the last indigenous people on this pl...

PETITIONS - Page 5 Empty STOP THE BARBARIC "TORO DE LA VEGA

Post  burgundia Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:14 pm

The bull is forced by people to run and cross the bridge, attacking the animal with spears; when the animal gets the plain, crossing the river, mortal attacks with those weapons are already allowed. Previously, people can only attack to injure and/or pierce the bull.

When the bull falls down, the perpetrator of the theoretical mortal attack exercises his right to cut the testicles off and -even though it is already disapproved, to show them hunging in the end of his spear. He receives his prize from the City Council of Tordesillas: a medal and a spear made of wrought iron.

It is very difficult to imagine what kind of human intellect, sick and warped, can enjoy this psychopathic practice. It is even more difficult to cover this whole sadistic package with the carpet of culture. Where does this country goes with these despicable traditions? Imagine yourself in the middle of the yelling crowd, in front of a bleeding, wounded and riddled animal, mooing out in pain and horror.

PETITIONS - Page 5 Empty Re: PETITIONS

Post  burgundia Fri Nov 11, 2011 3:40 pm

Target: EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson

Goal: To stop the animal testing element of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencies endocrine disruptor chemical testing plans.

Despite advances in safe animal-free testing methods the United States Environmental Protection Agency still plans on using extensive animal testing in its upcoming endocrine disruptor chemical testing plans.

There are at present 134 chemicals on the EPA’s list of chemicals that can potentially harm the endocrine system of humans and other animals.

This is an important test due to the fact that endocrine disruptors hamper the body’s hormonal regulation system that can affect both growth and reproduction. Unfortunately the EPA’s planned methods for conducting these important tests are outdated and inhumane.

The plan to screen this list of chemicals will take multiple years to complete and kill an estimated 80,000 animals during the course of the testing procedure. This will not only impact the huge number of animals killed, but also provide difficult to interpret results that will be of minimal use in protecting humans from harmful chemicals.

Rather than put these animals to death for extremely debatable results, the EPA should look to a program it has already spent millions of dollars developing. This program which is named “ToxCast” has already been used to profile the endocrine activity of more than 300 potentially toxic chemicals.

ToxCast was also used to great effect to study the health effects of oil dispersants used in last summer’s oil spill in the Gulf Coast region. The confidence boasted by the EPA in this program makes its reticence to put ToxCast to use in its upcoming endocrine disruptor tests even more perplexing.

The EPA has the means to utilize methods that will yield concrete data less open to interpretation than animal testing, the time has come to call for them to put it to widespread use and forgo archaic methods of questionable value.

Save these 80,000 animals as well as the countless thousands more that may be employed by future testing—put ToxCast to work on this study.

Help Dancing Bears of Punjab (Pakistan)

These poor Animals are brutally tortured to be trained as dancing Bears, they are kept in a very poor condition with very insuffucient diet in very small tents. These unfortunate Bears are used to entertain people and collect alms, they are living beings and not born to be made as an funny entertainers. In civilized societies this cruelty towards Animals neither can be accepted nor tolerated, so why should it may be happening anymore in Punjab.
