Gadhimai is the name of one of the Hindu goddesses of power, though the term usually refers to the world's biggest animal sacrifice conducted at the Gadhimai temple area in central Terai of Nepal.

Animals are sacrificed as part of the Hindu festival, with the hope that the sacrifice will lead to the fulfillment of wishes by the goddess. On October 6, 2009, a kitten named Cuddles died. Her little whiskers were burned; so was her entire back. A group of young men threw rocks at her then put lighter fluid on her back and lit it. Screams of agony, she was finally rescued. The brown tabby greeted David Schlott, a Delaware County animal control officer, that despite her pain from broken bones and burned body, she climbed up his shirt and snuggling against his neck, thereby acquiring her name. A few days later Cuddles died due to human cruelty from internal injuries of being stoned. Schlott said "Cuddles was really a good-natured kitten".

Across the nation, there are countless kittens and cats who suffered the same fate as Cuddles. Please sign/share for Cuddles and multitudes like her who have died due to human cruelty.

Two million South Korean dogs are electrocuted, strangled, or bludgeoned to death each year. They are killed in the cruelest ways imaginable, because many South Koreans believe the adrenaline that rushes through the system will improve virility.

Dogs and cats live crammed inside of filthy crates, then they are forced to watch one another be bludgeoned to death. Eyewitnesses have reported dogs being torn apart while still alive, their tormentors saying that the more prolonged the torment of death, the better the taste. This attitude toward any living creature is shocking and shameful.

The practice of eating dogs is not widely accepted in South Korea. It gained popularity after the South Korean War. The practice continues to thrive with the aid of greedy restaurateurs, meat dealers, and butchers.

Dogs are well-loved animals in South Korea and many people keep dogs as companions. However, we must take action to stop the contingent of people who blithely ignore the law and continue to abuse these innocent beings for profit.

As we well know, unfortunately Portugal is now building a large vivarium for vivisection in Azambuja. If these plans go ahead, it will be the largest facility of this unethical and unnecessary dirty business in Europe. It will be subsided with taxpayers money (36 million euros), and its true purpose is the millionaire euro income it will bring the the Champalimaud Foundations and its "partners".
We need all international cooperation we can get from individuals.

A new Mercy For Animals undercover investigation has exposed shocking abuses of mother pigs and their piglets at Iowa Select Farms, one of the nation’s largest pork producers and supplier to grocery giants Kroger, Costco, Safeway and Hy-Vee.

Sadly, these grocery chains are condoning egregious animal abuse by selling pork from Iowa Select Farms and other pork producers that use gestation crates – narrow metal stalls barely larger than the animals’ own bodies. These corporations have both the power and ethical responsibility to reject this abusive factory farming practice by immediately adopting policies that require suppliers to phase out their use of gestation crates.

Please use the form below to send a polite email urging grocery giants Kroger, Costco, Safeway and Hy-Vee to immediately adopt policies prohibiting the sale of pork from facilities that confine breeding pigs in gestation crates. These abusive crates – which have been banned in numerous states and the entire European Union – prevent mother pigs from even turning around, lying down comfortably, walking, or engaging in basic natural behaviors for nearly their entire lives.

However, animal cruelty is extremely offensive to Westerners and Europe as millions have seen numerous photos, news reports, and videos of cats and dogs killed with horrific cruelty, even sold in restaurants for the preparation of meat--skinned alive, boiled alive--and the cat and dog fur trade employing most painful, hideous methods. Animal cruelty brings the Republic of China a very bad reputation worldwide as photos and videos are being distributed throughout the Globe of Chinese torturing animals, which is most upsetting. YouTube must take action to prevent and remove cruelty-related videos. Obviously, animal cruelty is wrong in the minds of normal people. However, there are sick beings out there who post videos of themselves inflicting torture and causing the deaths of dogs, cats, and other animals.

Goal: To eliminate the cruel methods used by Chinese fur traders.

One may argue over the issue of natural fur and if it should be allowed at all in present times. Stepping past that debate however, even the most steadfast supporter of allowing for the fur trade to continue would still insist upon that fur being obtained in a humane fashion.

The massive success of the Chinese fur trade has beneath it a startlingly dark underbelly. Fur harvested from animals here is rarely obtained in an ethical or humane fashion. It is instead garnered in a manner that is beyond the acceptable bounds of even the most steadfast fur supporter.

When undercover investigators from Swiss Animal Protection and EAST International toured fur farms from China’s Hebei province they learned just why it is so difficult for outsiders to gain access. The Chinese farmers did not wish for anyone to see how day to day operations are conducted there.

The Chinese government holds no penalties for animal abuse on fur farms, thus farmers are allowed to slaughter these animals in whatever manner is deemed the simplest and most expedient way.

Whilst alive these animals are subjected to whatever the elements afford, living outside in wire cages amidst anything from freezing rain to scorching sun. Even this is far less barbaric then the way the fur is harvested however.

This is often completed in the form of skinning these animals alive. The torturous act will eventually kill the animal, but often they remain alive for several minutes after the skinning has already occurred. This denies the animal even the simple expectation of a humane death before the animal is harvested for its fur.

The city Lysychansk (eastern Ukraine) is shooting and burning animals alive as part of Football Preparations for Eurofoot 2012.

Ukrainian Authorities are now using a mobile crematorium to exterminate stray animals. The local government bought a mobile crematorium for the disposal of stray animals. The mobile team of drivers and dog catchers are armed with a gun to shoot strays. The mobile crematorium also lends it to other cities and districts of the region.


The captured animals are thrown alive into the oven to 900 degrees C. According to locals, the dogs and cats burned alive.

The concentration of stray animals is not critical and can easily be controlled. The problem of stray animals to be solved by sterilization. We are horrified to learn the problem of stray animals in the Luhansk region in the town Lysychansk in Eastern Ukraine will be "solved" in this way and ignoring the Law on Cruelty to Animals.

International Petition: Ban Crush Videos Globally

Crush videos, among other fetish videos, feature small live animals, such as kittens, puppies, mice and bunnies, being slowly tortured in the most horrific ways imaginable; including being burnt alive, cut with pruning sheers, nailed to the floor, skinned alive, beaten, stabbed, and having their limbs broken.

All of these videos share a common theme: the animals are incrementally crushed by a woman in high heels. Most people view these materials for sexual gratification, but these videos are becoming increasingly popular just for their shock value alone. The crush fetish can be also linked to paraphernalia, which is an atypical sexual arousal to nonhuman objects and humans alike being caused physical distress.

Target: Commanding General of Aberdeen Proving Ground Nick Justice, and the Commander of U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense Peter J. Schultheiss

Goal: To urge the U.S. Army to use alternative methods to test the effects of a nerve agent attack instead of poisoning vervet monkeys.

Next week the U.S. Army plans to implement a cruel exercise that will overdose African vervet monkeys with a drug called physostigmine to recreate symptoms of a nerve agent attack. The Department of Defense prohibits harming primates for training purposes and requires alternatives to be used when available. Well, effective alternatives called human patient simulators are available but are not being utilized. The Army’s laboratories must recognize and abide by this policy, and stop using inefficient and cruel medical training methods.

The brutal exercise being organized at Maryland’s Aberdeen Proving Ground will involve 32 monkeys that are already locked up to be forced to endure chemical overdoses as often as every 60 days for three years. In addition to the monkeys that are currently at Aberdeen, another shipment of 20 more vervet monkeys is scheduled for the end of September. They will experience vomiting, uncontrollable twitching and seizures and will at times stop breathing. In a laboratory worksheet that PETA obtained from Aberdeen, one trainee compared a monkey’s violent reaction during the exercise to “a chiwawa [sic] sh*tting razor blades.”

There is an effective alternative program to test the effects of a nerve agent attack that is used around the world. Human patient simulators are used to mimic human response to a nerve agent attack and can be tested in various realistic scenarios.

By signing the petition below you will help urge the Commanding General of Aberdeen Proving Ground and the Commander of U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense to stop this unnecessary use of primate testing before it begins.

Raccoon dogs, animals closely related to domestic dogs, are farmed in China, where they are beaten and skinned alive. Their fur is used in some brands of Australian Ugg-style boots, according to the Humane Society International.

Tell the Australian government to help stop this barbaric practice by banning the import of fur products made from raccoon dogs.

Swiss Animal Protection recently released a graphic video showing the animals being skinned alive and thrown on a heap, some still alive even after their skin and fur has been cut off. The import of this fur by Australian clothing manufacturers helps sustain this terrifying practice.

Sign this petition to tell the Australian government to institute a policy that would ban the import of fur obtained through the cruel treatment of raccoon dogs.

The Namibia seal hunt is the second largest of its kind in the world. Each year, from July 1 through November 15, Cape fur seals descend on two main colonies in this region to give birth. What they have faced in recent years is a crowd of commercial hunters and part-time workers brandishing clubs, knives, and guns.

At dawn, these hunters round up the nervous seals, and the carnage begins. Nursing pups, clinging desperately to their mothers, are particularly targeted, as are bulls (seal penis is valued as an aphrodisiac in Asia). In Cape Cross, a tourism resort, a fresh layer is spread across the bloody sand and the carcasses are dragged away just in time to let tourists in to ogle, unknowingly, at the traumatized seal survivors.

Aney Safaris Aspeling is a business within South Africa, breeding Lions, Cheetahs and other game for the sole purpose of being murdered by hunters.

Sadly, however, canned lion hunting is big business in South Africa. The government promotes hunting as a revenue source and calls it a "sustainable utilization of natural resources." Endosulfan is a deadly chemical that is highly toxic to polar bears, amphibians and humans. The Environmental Protection Agency approved its ban in June. But now the agency wants to allow endosulfan to remain on the market for another six years. Without a doubt, this chemical threatens Endangered Species.

Do not use this deadly chemical an additional 6 years. BAN IT NOW.

The Environmental Justice Foundation has campaigned over the last 4 years to ban endosulfan and has pressed for the global eradication of endosulfan, one of the worlds deadliest pesticides. European Union has now taken the bold and progressive step of proposing endosulfan as a chemical to be listed under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.


Endosulfan, like DDT, is an organochlorine and persists in the environment long after it has killed the target pests, leaving a deadly legacy for people and wildlife. EPA has documented that endosulfan can travel thousands of miles from the areas where it is used and that it is one of the most abundant organochlorine pesticides found in the Arctic.


Polar bears, for example, are particularly at risk. Endosulfan is a highly persistent pollutant that accumulates in polar regions and collects in the fats of seals and other polar bear prey.


We ask Lisa Jackson of the Environmental Protection Acency to ban endolsulfan use immediately, and the international community should recognize the lethal long-term effects of this chemical by ensuring that it is included in the list of chemicals targeted for global elimination under the Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants. Do not use this deadly chemical an additional 6 years. BAN IT NOW.
