This Newsletter is being sent out to the Membership so as to be able to continue on with Our Community should Forumotion (Our Forum Host) decide to delete Our Forums. Please let Us explain.
One Week ago - We as the Admins of the MoA were presented with a Message in Our Admin Interface about a supposed Violation of Forumotion's Terms of Service or TOS. This was supposedly due to someone lodging a complaint against Us with Forumotion.
I as an Admin then went over to Forumotion's Support Forum where I then tried to get more Information about the supposed Violation of Their Terms of Service and where It was so I and or Carol could clear It up by making the appropriate Edits Ourself as necessary.
We were told that We could not be told of the specific Violations as that was another part of Forumotion that We as Their Users supposedly have no access to and cannot talk to or query about what They find Us in Violation of...
This then left Us looking into Our own Local Abuses under a different Applet under Our Admin Interface where We found a complaint lodged against Us with specific references to Copyright Violations this Person was supposedly claiming...
That said - Upon attempting to track these specific references to the Violations of Their TOS made against Us by this Person - All of them were no longer in Our Database - Meaning they'd obviously been deleted or removed already.
This then left Us dealing with this from Our end as Admins and so We asked everyone to check Their Posts and ensure that there was no ;
Violent or repulsive content
Hateful or abusive content
Defamatory content and / or affecting the integrity of a person
Sexual and/or pornographic content
Harmful and dangerous acts
Copyright infringment
Spam
Phishing and/ or malware website
Credit card fraud
Hacking
This presented to Us a large Chore and so We moved about on It. We now wait to see what the Timer will do. Will We have this Forum up'n'running after the Clock goes over at 00:00 C.S.T. this Morning ? We'll have to see but if not and They delete Us - Here is how We shall proceed as no one can shut Us down now...
We own the URL and there is a Website I bought last Year ready and waiting. Sickness and such with Family Members has prevented Carol and I from moving on It as fast as We wanted to but if We go down We are not lost - AT ALL...
Here is how We intend to proceed...
If the Forum at http://www.themistsofavalon.net goes down and is deleted by Forumotion after 00:00 C.S.T. - Members are then in the Interim - Asked to gather at http://mistsofavalon.invisionplus.net
Now as that resource (The Backup URL) can be very questionable at the best of times as It regards Net Connectivity - If this Forum goes down due to deletion and the backup listed above is not available - Take a rest - Try it tomorrow and then even still if when You check the backup and Its not up again - Check Your Email for an Update and It'll be in there detailing what Carol and I are doing to bring the Mists back to Us as an Online Community once again. All of the above said - I will have an Email out to the Membership about Our next steps should Forumotion delete Us and the Backup is not available - By 22:00 C.S.T. tomorrow Night.
We have everyone's Email Address and so if this Forum We are currently on - Goes down - Remember the above and feel free to Email Me back as Admin with any questions You might have as this process unfolds or doesn't. In any event - We are prepared. If the Forum goes down and You can't find It online or You get a 404 - Check You Email periodically over the next little while so as to up to date on what is being done to put Us back Online as a Community...
