can you feel the merging of worlds
    of lives
can you feel the strength required
    for times such as these
    are you brokenhearted
    are you holding your breath
    Breathe
    the breath is our companion
    on the journey
    the breath is the wayshower
    the divine wind of transformation
    of transmutation
    Breathe
    and Remember
    for every breath ever taken
has brought you to this time and place
    of truth
    and discovery
    and reclamation

"The “sacred” is not something primarily religious or even spiritual. It is not a quality we need to learn or to develop. It belongs to the primary nature of all that is."

"The sacred can be found in any form: in every drop of dew on an early morning spider’s web, in the call of wildfowl at dusk. It speaks to us in a myriad of ways. In my own garden it is in the scent of honeysuckle and the hummingbird drinking nectar, or the chipmunk scurrying after the seeds fallen from the birdfeeder. It is also present in every prayer, every song of praise and thanksgiving. The remembrance of the sacred is like a central note within life. Without it something fundamental to our existence is missing. Our daily life lacks a basic nourishment, a depth of meaning."
    -Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

Reconnecting to the Wisdom Within Nature and the Soul

Twenty-One - The Seer, Knower and Enjoyer

    Pure Awareness is omnipresent,
    The constant, conscious, subjective presence,
By which all beings are sentient,
    Our fundamental, innermost, absolute essence.

The ‘Seer, Knower and Enjoyer’ - the foundation,
    Of body/mind and objective existence,
    Properties of Consciousness 'ere manifestation,
By which It can, through us, experience.

    Awareness is Consciousness when still,
Cosmic energy is That moving and vibrating,
The essence of matter which all worlds fill,
Thus with The Totality is That equating.

    Seeing, Knowing and Enjoying each,
Underlie a path to becoming awake,
By following which we readily reach,
Freedom and peace, make no mistake!

‘Seeing’ is central to Raja Yoga, the kingly way,
By which we attain ‘spiritual vision’,
And recognize what all the mystics say,
All is One, with no division.

Jnana Yoga is the classic path of ‘Knowing’,
    By self-inquiry and investigation,
Discovering that life is experience flowing,
In Pure Awareness, with no deviation.

‘Enjoying’ is the key to Tantra Yoga,
The path of using every thing we meet,
    To awaken, thus spiritualizing bhoga*,
By appreciating situations that we ‘greet’.

*Bhoga – Enjoyment of sense objects
    (Ramakrishna Vedanta Wordbook)

    .You Ask For Proof

    You ask for proof,
What more proof could there be?
That which lives and breathes in me,
Also lives and breathes in thee.

The Lover and Beloved are ever within and without,
Of this amazing Mystery there can be no doubt.
She feels every sensation that our bodies feel,
As we eat She partakes of every meal.

That which we hear and see,
Is also heard and seen by the Beloved, Thee.
All that we taste and smell,
Is sensed, through us, by Thee as well.

Every thought with which our minds resound,
In Thy infinite Cosmic Mind is found.
    For behind every conscious body/mind,
The Seer, Knower and Enjoyer can we find.

All our thoughts and sensations are 'seen',
    By appearing on Consciousness's screen,
    Constantly scanned by the mind,
So our experiences we can 'find'.

In this there can be no separate ‘saying’,
Manifestation is the Lover and Beloved playing.
What appears to us as ‘you’ and ‘me’,
Are expressions, and instruments of the Beloved, Thee.

Between Awareness and the manifestation ,
    There can be no separation.
For the Lover and Beloved are already one,
Appearing as the ‘many’ just for fun!

.Christianity and Awakening (as Pure Awareness)

At a Christian college graduating address,
The principal called on the student body,
To be totally bold, dangerous and fearless,
    In overcoming injustice and inequality.

    To oppose materialism and greed,
And deride the expectation of more and more.
When awake, as Awareness, there’s no need,
For this makes one ‘rich’ and fulfilled, not poor.

To struggle against evil and exploitation,
Of others and of God’s wonderful creation,
But where there is correct identification,
Everything is seen to be God’s manifestation.

To defy the powerful who oppress the weak,
And the rich who oppress the poor.
The ‘awake’, seeing ‘all as one’, never seek,
To oppress ‘others’, the same at the core.

To denounce self-interest and the trampling of others,
Even in pursuit of high sounding ideals.
Identified with Awareness one regards all as ‘brothers’,
Showing empathy for how any ‘other’ feels.

    Also awakening produces wonderful outcomes,
Compassion and agape, for all are of the same essence,
    Discrimination and non-clinging which overcomes
Discontent; leaving feelings of joy and munificence.

So from the categories that Christians should oppose,
By awakening one is spontaneously removed,
Then ‘love of your neighbour’, words that Jesus chose,
Occurs when by correct identification one is ‘moved’.

    Duality, Nonduality and Samadhi(s)

An academic was in a coma for seven days,
During which he was at death’s door,
Feeling perfect oneness and God’s loving grace,
    Yet still duality he ‘saw’.

    For before near death experiencing,
    He was a modern rationalist,
Thus identified as a separate being,
From this view he interpreted ‘what is’.

    The experience of the Absolute,
    Whilst clinging to individuality,
Can be a stage to the Ultimate,
    Just prior to final nonduality.

Bhava Samadhi, is the aim of the devotee,
And believers in a personal deity,
So their beloved they can ‘feel’ and see,
From losing themselves in oneness they flee.

For in Nirvikalpa Samadhi all is one,
Total absorption in Brahman, The Absolute,
No one is left separate to enjoy the fun,
Or feel sensations however gross or minute.

Beyond this is Sahaj Samadhi, another state,
    Living spontaneously as a manifestation,
And instrument of Pure Awareness, the Ultimate,
In which there is truly no separation.

When examined this is always the case,
Awareness, our essence, is consciousness at rest,
Energy/matter is This moving, at any pace,
Thus from nondual oneness all is manifest.

Each time the attention goes to the head
    wanting to solve something,
I point you to the Heart,
    where everything is nicely dissolved
    in perfect Wholeness.

    Focusing on health
    By Bentinho Massaro

When people say “I’m going to focus on my health for a while” they are taking the sure path to falling (more) ill. You are healthy when you don’t notice your health; and you are unhealthy when you notice your health.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To be healthy means to not be notified that you have a body, so you can stay focused on your purpose and evolution in life. Health is a by-product of living an aligned, ever-evolving life.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re unwell, learn from it by readjusting your focus to living an aligned, focused, honorable, generous and loving life—and your health will follow suit.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ill health is a signal from our souls saying we ought to pay attention to our thoughts, beliefs and actions (not to ‘focus on our health’), and align them to our soul’s frequency and purpose on Earth.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t go vainly focus on your ‘health’ as if it is an object to manage. It’s not an object. It’s only a signal—a messenger to glean a new way of thinking and acting from.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Generalizing: for most beings staying focused on WHY you came to Earth is the best way to stay healthy. And since ‘focusing on your health’ is not what most of you came to earth for, it is a mis-aligned focus that will result in (further) ill health, you see.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Focus on why you are here instead, and do your best to live true to that with passion, faith and will ever more, and for the most part you won’t even notice that you have a body. You’ll be like laser beaming through the sky, dissolving every cloud in your path. That is how to live a healthy life. Be epic.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Think highly of yourself. You are a God. Now go forth in humility and confidence as you carve out your unique destiny while being of loving service to others. Be fearless as often as you can muster the will to be so, my friends. I love you forever.

    Nurturing The Bliis
    By Colin Drake

    Nurturing the bliss, a practice
    To increase the endorphin level,
For when this occurs the fact is,
    Irritations no longer bedevil.

Lying flat on a soft surface and settling,
    In complete comfort and ease,
    Letting go, yourself totally forgetting,
    Notice how sensations can please.

    Become aware of the pleasure,
    Of inhaling life-giving oxygen,
    And exhaling in full measure,
    The carbon dioxide that’s spent.

Next notice the serenity of the pause,
Twixt breaths when the body’s quiet, silent
And still, which is the peace of course,
    When inhalation and exhalation relent.

Now feel the clothes gently caress,
As on inhaling the chest rises,
Then notice the warmth that’s left,
In the gap occurring as it subsides.

Feeling the vitality of the heart,
    Rhythmically pumping the vital blood,
And the wonder that can make you ‘start’
Of the system that controls this ‘flood’.

Finally there’s the bliss and joy,
Of embodiment through which The Absolute,
    Can Its' manifestation enjoy,
Through the senses of this human ‘suit’.

    The Chalice of Wisdom - Part 2 - Page 23 E1a84d10

First there emerges a profound desire to know God. Automatically follows an all-consuming and ceaseless contemplation on the nature of God. Then follows meditation to support the desire in its fulfillment. This is the most powerful order of these.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
True Meditation is the natural result of an intense desire for God and a near-ceaseless contemplation on him. For if one meditates, even regularly, but out of a chore-like discipline—like a planned activity—bland in its quality and low in its potency to penetrate into deeper dimensions, then what you call meditation is nothing but a means to gain something relative and transient for the little self; some minor perks or temporary effects. Better than this is devoted, honorable execution of one’s duties in the world.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Meditation without the absolute aim for God, is mere empty technique. It will not lead to God Realization nor will it liberate you from your suffering.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One must desire to know and be one with God above all else; then meditation will inevitably follow as the intense desire pulls one’s contemplative abilities ever more inwards and upwards, until the body and the mind naturally fall into a meditative condition when contemplation on the true nature of Self or God reaches its discriminative zenith. This alone is true meditation. All else is merely the pleasing of a deluded fetish through vain doership and strategy.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So first: you must desire God above all else—above yourself and your wants. It is true what Christ said: “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven, and all else shall be added unto you.” Or as Sadasiva said: “Do not do what you want, and then you may do what you like.”
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Without a pure and intense desire, nothing of great value is ever accomplished. Strengthen and purify your desire first, then meditation will follow. Following this order will save you lifetimes of seeking.

    A Light Unto Your Self
    By Colin Drake

In an early sutta Buddha is said to comment:
‘There are seven factors of enlightenment,
Awareness of awareness, investigation of the way …’
These first two are paramount, come what may.

The next five are outcomes of these,
Which follow naturally as a breeze,
If by investigating one becomes aware
That awareness is forever here, not rare.

For this to be really so
All ‘knowing’ one must let go.
The starting point is a naked mind
So we don't 'clothe' that which we find.

Dogma and beliefs must be abhorred,
Although ‘pointers’ need not be ignored.
There are mystical paths to follow
To be abandoned if found to be ‘hollow’.

Finally one must discover the truth for oneself,
For this, ‘teachings’ should be left on the shelf,
    Seeing clearly throughout the investigation,
Then what’s found suffers no degradation.

So the discoveries that we may make,
When aware of awareness, thus awake,
Our direct experience they will be
    Requiring no outside authority.

Then quotes, like those in verse one,
    May be useful as confirmation.
But, as at the last Buddha said himself:
You must become ‘A Light Unto Yourself’!

You are comprised of: 84 minerals, 23 Elements, and 8 gallons of water spread across 38 trillion cells.

You have been built up from nothing by the spare parts of the Earth you have consumed, according to a set of instructions hidden in a double helix and small enough to be carried by a sperm. You are recycled butterflies, plants, rocks, streams, firewood, wolf fur, and shark teeth, broken down to their smallest parts and rebuilt into our planet’s most complex living thing.

“You are not living on Earth. You are Earth.”
    ~ Aubrey Marcus

Action without doing: Base your every action and its motivations on compassion. Look not for the fruits of your actions; abandon attachments to outcome. Act without self. Act without doing. Act without ulterior motive—for the benefit of all. Work without complaining. Surrender selfish desires. Be constituted in honor. Treat your life as divine duty. This is karma yoga; the action-based path to perfection of the soul. This is service to others and simultaneously the greatest service to your self.

In pain I found my will
In chaos I learned to be still
In fear I found my might
In obscurity I saw the light

Self-Identity - The Key to Spontaneous Living

    By Colin Drake

The simple key to a spontaneous life,
    Is to correctly identify,
With Pure Awareness, which removes strife,
    And living does demystify.

For when misidentified as a ‘thing’,
We fabricate a tale of who we are,
Which distorts our way of ‘seeing’,
Life and relationships tending to mar.

But when ‘awake’ it’s easily seen,
That our body and mind are instruments,
    By which Consciousness can glean,
Joy and love through insight and each sense.

    Identifying with Awareness readily results,
    In compassion, contentment and non-clinging.
As This, not striving or acquiring are defaults,
It’s already present – no need for bringing.

Which leads to feeling always ‘at home’,
Content, free from worry, angst and fear.
Simply ‘free to be’, no need to roam,
For That which we seek is always here.

In This nothing (and nothingness) ‘matters’,
And labels assigned to us have no meaning.
    ‘Being Awareness’ Karma’s hold shatters,
Thought and experiences no longer ‘screening’.

    Also ‘each moment is enough’,
    Choicelessly aware of  ‘what is’,
Needing no ethics, or such stuff,
As That’s response is never amiss.

'With the divine Knowledge of Advaita
(non-duality) in you, do whatever you
wish; for then no evil can ever come out
    of you.'
    Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

Poem one of 'Poetry From The Happiness That Needs Nothing' based on a chapter of  'The Happiness That Needs Nothing'.
I write (and read) these posts, based on my meditations and contemplations, as much for my own benefit as for that of 'others'. For this helps to keep me 'awake' in this illusory, and impermanent, world ...
