'I can only classify as alien': Scully morphs into an extra-terrestrial in opening scene from The X-Files finale
By ROSS MCDONAGH FOR DAILYMAIL.COM
8 February 2016
She's spent much of the series denying the existence of aliens. But if the opening scene of the X-Files finale is to be believed, Dana Scully is one. The two-and-a-half minute sequence, which gives a sneak peak into the last episode of the revival miniseries, finishes with Gillian Anderson physically morphing into an extra-terrestrial.
She has to believe now: Scully morphs into an extra-terrestrial in the opening scene from The X-Files finale, revealed in a sneak peak
The final episode starts just like the first one, but instead of Fox Mulder bringing viewers up to speed using photographs from old cases, it's his partner who sets the scene.
'Soon after joining the FBI, I was asked to review the work of a fellow agent, Fox Mulder, and to debunk the X-Files - cases involving what my superiors regarded as science fiction... and a waste of resources,' she explains over throwback stills from the early '90s.
'I quickly came to understand that Mulder's work on the paranormal wasn't such as I'd been led to believe; that the X-files were worthy of Mulder's investigations, and of mine.
'That a world existed on the far fringes of accepted science; a world where a scientist would have her strongly held beliefs tested and retested.' She then expands on her belief of a 'dark force' of men who are pulling the strings from the shadows, before touching on her abduction which occurred later in the series. 'Intervening incidents have led me to believe that during my short disappearance I was subjected to tests... tests resulting in a life-threatening disease... its cure as mysterious as the illness itself,' she continues.
Changed: 'I quickly came to understand that Mulder's work on the paranormal wasn't such as I'd been led to believe; that the X-files were worthy of Mulder's investigations, and of mine,' she continues
Plot: She touches on her abduction which occurred later in the series
Don't tell Trump: She then accepts that part of her own genetic make-up can only be classified as alien
But questions remain unanswered about... the significance of a recent test result of my personal genetic make-up, turning up DNA anomalies that I can only classify... as alien.
As Scully stares at the camera, her hair disappears, her skull balloons, her nose recedes into two slits and her eyes become enormous black pools - in what may or may not be a vision or dream sequence.
The final episode of The X-Files airs on February 22.
Bad guys: She speaks about the 'dark force' that is pulling the strings from the shadows - including the Cancer Man, who recently made an appearance.
