I have just watched a lengthy video of the author of Hitler's War and many other books, David Irving, talking about his life and his research findings:
After 1:39:00 David Irving says he believes that gassings did take place as an ad hoc operation ordered by local commanders, not Hitler, and not in the alleged gas chambers shown to tourists at Auschwitz (brought out earlier in the video when he talked about court proceedings in Canada).
He also says there were three extermination centers east of Auschwitz.
