A New Zealand Defence Force C-130 arrived in Tuvalu Monday afternoon to deliver Red Cross supplies and personnel to address severe water shortages on the South Pacific Island.

Months of below average rainfall have resulted in severe water shortages on the island, which boasts a population of just under 10,500.

Thailand hit by worst monsoon flooding in half a century- 2.6 million affected
October 5, 2011 – THAILAND - Flooding in central and northern Thailand blamed on unusually heavy monsoon rains and poor management of the country’s large dams has left at least 237 people dead. Twenty-six of the 77 Thai provinces have been hit by floods this rainy season, affecting 2.6 million people. On Wednesday, 400 families were forced to evacuate Bang Phrahan district in Ayutthaya province, 90km north of Bangkok, as the Chao Phraya River overflowed its banks. Officials have been forced to release water from the two largest dams, Bhumibol and Sirikit, into the Ping and Nan rivers, which feed into the Chao Phraya. “The problem is water management,” said Smith Dharmasaroja, head of the Natural Disaster Warning Foundation. “We kept too much water in the dams early in the rainy season, and now at the end of the season, they have to release a large amount of water at the same time, which has caused floods.” Thailand’s rainy season usually starts in May and ends in October. Smith blamed the rains on a lengthy La Nina cycle, a weather phenomenon marked by heavy precipitation that typically follows an El Nino period of drought. “This La Nina started early and was supposed to end six months ago, but it’s continued up to now,” Smith said. “It’s quite unusual.” Northeastern Thailand can expect more rain this week from a low-pressure front left over from Typhoon Nalgae, National Disaster Prevention Centre Director Somsak Khaosuwai said on the department’s website. Nalgae hit the Philippines over the weekend and moved on to Vietnam Wednesday. –Herald Sun

The worst in 50 years: Flooding in Thailand during this year’s monsoon season has killed more than 200 people and affected at least two million more. Officials say the inundation across thousands of hectares of land is the most severe in decades and the United Nations is calling on governments in Asia to spend more on disaster risk reduction. Weather forecasters say Thailand’s monsoon rainy season this year has been the most severe in 50 years. While the country has a network of dams and canals to contain the heavy rainfall, officials from the Royal Irrigation Department warn that several major dams are near their breaking point, with more torrential rain forecast in the coming weeks. Bangkok has, so far, been spared the most severe of the floods. But the torrent of water has been heavy in the city’s Chao Phraya River. –VOA

Strong sustained swarm now taking place at El Hierro
Posted on October 8, 2011 by The Extinction Protocol

October 8, 2011 – CANARY ISLANDS – An intensified sustained earthquake swarm is now taking place at the Canary Islands and it appears the magma is now on the move again bubbling closer to the surface and incinerating more rock in the process. Over the last 24 hours, we’ve seen the depths of the tremors rising up to within 11 km from a depth average of about 14.5 to 15 km. The number of seismic volcanic tremors has also doubled at El Hierro since Wednesday. On Wednesday, October 5, there were 79 recorded seismic events. On Thursday, there were 160 and on Friday, October 7th, there were 177.

Government issues volcanic eruption alert on Spanish Canary Island
    October 9

MADRID — The regional government of the Spanish Canary Island of El Hierro has issued a volcanic eruption alert following almost 10,000 small tremors recorded in the past three months.

The government posted a yellow alert — second level in a scale of four — Sunday and closed some hillside roads and a tunnel to avoid possible injury by falling rocks.

I don't know about you, but this continuing swarming of earthquakes in the Puerto Rico area has me on edge for the people of the Caribbean. They haven't been warned, they haven't been notified.

Even scientists are puzzled about the lack of warning.

Highlighted in blue in the picture above is the massive Puerto Rico Trench, one of the deepest in the world. If a landslide was precipitated there, a Tsunami of monstrous proportions could be generated, reaching millions along the coasts of the Caribbean.

    But Why No Warning?

What strikes me is that in everything I'm reading, it's admitted the risk of a mega landslide resulting in a major Tsunami from the Puerto Rican trench is huge. Even Wikipedia admits:

Knowledge of the earthquake and tsunami risks has not been widespread among the general public of the islands located near the trench.

Why? Would it negatively impact the local economy to warn people, much like the idiot mayor's development worries in the movie Jaws? Are there really such people in charge?

Well, look at the Gulf oil disaster and Fukushima for starters. I don't think the concern is about anyone's health or well being - it's preserving the status quo while the disasters take their toll as quietly as possible.

Remember--it's not crisis prevention, it's crisis management.

    The Current Situation

    Earth Changes 2013 - Daily Updates - Page 21 295_20

Lotta quakes...this continues..and this is just the immediate area in the past week (blue ones with 24 hrs). The whole area is getting pounded again. Is it leading up to something? They won't tell you. Better to be forearmed.

    The Big Picture

Now consider a few factors and you'll want to warn everyone you can in the region.

    1. Seismic activity worldwide is up 6 times what it was last year and we're only a little past half way into the year.

    2. The current solar maximum cycle will continue to escalate until 2013 so we have some serious bombardment ahead.

    3. Comet, asteroid, planetoid and/or dwarf star arrivals and other celestial events and alignments are current or in the very near future.

    4. Extremely powerful technology is now in the hands of mad scientists and manipulators who are making war on the planet. HAARP and other similar atmospheric heater arrays are capable of creating and/or exasperating already "poised" situations at any time to suit their purposes.

    5. The Ring of Fire as well as the New Madrid Fault are active and poised for much greater movement which will cause a domino effect.

    6. The Puerto Rico Trench is a unique geological formation due to major plate subduction.
    Earth Changes 2013 - Daily Updates - Page 21 300px-Oceanic_spreading.svg
Oceanic crust is formed at an oceanic ridge, while the lithosphere is subducted back into the asthenosphere at trenches.
    7. The Caribbean plate joins the North and South American plates, both of which are moving. Something will eventually give.
Earth Changes 2013 - Daily Updates - Page 21 Tectonic
    All That To Say...

We live in wild times and we cannot be ignorant of the world around us and the potential for disaster. We must not live in fear, but we must be awake and aware.

In light of this information, I would suggest anyone knowing anyone or even any news outlets in the Caribbean region to send them this article, or your own personal warning and concern. They've obviously not been warned.

This goes for anyone in seismically active areas. Many people, including myself, have moved to "higher ground" and take these things seriously. At the least have emergency supplies and plans always ready. We're in for a bumpy ride no matter where we are.

"Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."

We Need To Stay Tuned and Continue to Inform

The Powers That Be are not about informing or empowering the people, as you have probably learned. There are wonderful groups trying to help people take real threats like these seriously, but it's in spite of the government, not because of them.

If people realize they need to stay conscious and informed on their own and not expect the media to tell them what to do, they can stay a step ahead, or at least know how to read the signs of the times and react in a conscious way.

Whatever you do, don't follow Hollywood's pre-programmed panic conditioning. Keep fear out of the equation in whatever you do, think or plan. The Universe, God or whatever you want to call it, is in control - we just need to be attuned to where It wants us to be and do our part to keep the awakening happening.

Love will always find a way.

    Love, Zen

Massive landslide buries Utah road under 100 feet of debris
October 12, 2011 – CEDAR CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation will rely on aerial surveying and mapping in an effort to get an accurate assessment of a massive landslide that displaced a section of State Route 14 eight miles east of Cedar City over the weekend. Latest ground estimates place the slide at 1700 feet in length, having slid over 100 feet down slope with a rough volume of 1.5 million cubic yards of dirt, rock, vegetation and debris. The slide debris is as deep as 100 feet in at least one location. The aerial surveys will provide detailed points and measurements that can then be used by engineers to design a new roadway. Upon completion of design work, UDOT anticipates contracting most of the work to a private construction company. Re-opening of the roadway is now estimated to take three to four months. While the area appears stable at this time, it is still being analyzed. Authorities have received no reports of any missing persons as a result of the event and stream water temporarily backed up behind debris early Saturday morning resumed flowing on its own early the same day posing no risk downstream. The magnitude of the slide is reminiscent of a similar slide repaired in the winter of 1992 and 1993 in the same general vicinity. The slide is located at milepost 8 immediately adjacent to the location where rockfall covered the roadway in December 2008 but left most of it intact. The road remains closed between milepost 5 and the junction of state Route 148. Businesses on both sides of the slide are accessible through alternate routes. And officials say it will likely take three to four months before the roadway reopens. –Stage News http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/archive/2011/10/11/udot-to-design-new-roadway-after-landslide-closes-sr-14-for-months/

Rain-soaked Philippines braces for collision with 18th tropical storm system
October 12, 2011 – MANILA – Another tropical cyclone- Banyan – is expected to hit the central Philippines by Wednesday. It comes as parts of three provinces in the north remain flooded due to previous typhoons Nesat and Nalgae. This early in the onslaught of cyclone Banyan, floods have already occurred in the southern provinces of Agusan and Misamis. Hundreds of families have evacuated to safer ground. Storm Banyan is expected to spare the already devastated northern region, but threatens more than twenty provinces in the central and southern parts. The storm carries peak winds of 80 kilometers an hour, and is the 18th cyclone to hit the Philippines this year. –Radio Australia http://www.radioaustralianews.net.au/stories/201110/3337442.htm?desktop

El Hierro Volcano (Canary Islands) : Red alert – 2 new eruption vents have been discovered
    Last update: October 12, 2011

Update 12/10 – 20:30 UTC : The new eruption spots have been detected by a fisherman and people waiting in a cue to get their belongings from La Restinga. They had nothing else to do than discussing and looking out over the see. High tech like in the middle ages
Closest to the eruption locations is the old port of Puerto Naos. The port is no longer in use and no people are living there. Those people following the El Hierro reports from the veru beginning must surely remember that most of the initial tremors where located in this area.

Update 12/10 – 20:04 UTC : 2 new eruption locations have been detected this afternoon. The eruption sites discovered today are much nearer to the coast than the initial location at 5 km out of the La Restinga coast.
Today’s most remote location is at a depth of 750 meter and 2 nautical miles out of the coast. The second at a depth of 500 meter and 1.5 nautical miles from the coast. (1 nautical mile = 1.85 km)
Authorities told the press that fissures has been opened which resulted in green water spots with a strong sulfurous odor. Just like Monday a lot of dead fish have been detected at the surface waters too.
Scientist are hoping that the present submarine eruptions will decrease the pressure on the main island and are hopeful that the tremors will weaken.
The new fissures have been opened when we reported the strong change in seismicity during the afternoon.

Update 12/10 – 20:04 UTC : Fisherman of La Restinga have not yet received permission to move their boats to La Estaca.

Update 12/10 – 16:51 UTC : The authorities have a called an “urgent” press conference to be held at 19:00 hours at El Hierro. Sources have revealed that the important Los Roquillos tunnel will reopen for commercial transport and emergency vehicles only after that he was inspected by the Canary Islands government.

Update 12/10 – 16:33 UTC : We have been reorganizing our articles and have split them into 3 parts. The current latest updates became too long and was putting too much load on our servers. We expect also that this volcano eruption with his many side effects might go on for a while and had to create some space for our new updates.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 12/10 15:30 : Fundamental change in seismic activity registered since less than an hour. Harmonic tremors have changed as you will see on the map below. In specialized blogs like Jon Frimann, an Icelandic volcano and earthquake follower, the discussion on how to read the current change is overheating. Opninions are varying. We hope to receive the opinion of PEVOLCA soon.

Get Ready for Frigid Weather - La Niña to drop harsh winter weather over parts of Canada
    http://www.canada.com/ready+frigid+winter/5537258/story.html
October 12, 2011 – CANADA - Predicting the weather remains one of the most difficult challenges, despite the technological advances in recent years, but one U.S.-based group has boldly called for a colder-than-usual winter for the West Coast of southern B.C. Weather forecaster AccuWeather says the more frigid temperatures and an increase of snow are on their way. The American forecaster made the chilly prediction on Monday, saying another La Niña is behind it all. Cold winters with significant snowfall has become the usual in the Nanaimo region in the past decade. Looking back, the trends demonstrate that massive snow dumps and cold-weather snaps can come at any time. Weather predictions get less accurate the further away people place their estimates, but understanding the La Nina and El Niño weather systems help understand overall trends. The La Niña weather-system phenomenon brings in cooler temperatures from the central and eastern Pacific Ocean. In the winter of 2010-11, such a system produced a terrific amount of snow in the coastal mountains. AccuWeather guesses the 20011-12 West Coast winter will be one of the coldest three winters in the past 20 years around Vancouver and Victoria. Given historical patterns, Nanaimo will also be hit hard should such conditions strike the region. Environment Canada experts would not predict a La Niña year as of Monday, but a weather map issued Oct. 1 forecasting temperatures for October to December also predicts it will be colder than normal for Western Canada. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, has also said La Niña is coming. –Canada

Sierras see shortest summer in 40 years: For months now, I had reserved the second weekend in October for my annual grand finale “summertime” backpacking trip. Culminating an unusually short warm season, this was to be the ceremonial final alpine lake swim, the last mosquito bloodletting until well after next year’s thaw. Which is why, as my partner and I proceeded to pitch our tent in about 10 inches of snow last Friday evening, I couldn’t help but feel I’d been had. Last week’s storm, which swept across the northern half of California early Wednesday, dumped up to a foot of snow in the Sierra’s high peaks, with accumulation as low as 5,000 feet. According to the Central Sierra Snow Lab, this is the first snowstorm in 96 days – since July 1 – marking the shortest duration between storms in the Sierra since 1969. -Climate Watch

October 12, 2011 – BANGKOK – At least 900 factories have been shut because of the flooding, many of them auto-parts manufacturers, and vehicle production will be down this year as a result, but the government’s stimulus measures boosted the confidence of small- and medium-enterprises in August. The flooding is the worst to hit the Southeast Asian nation in decades. About 8.2 million people in 60 of Thailand’s 77 provinces have been affected by floods and mudslides, and 30 provinces are currently inundated. Industry Minister Wannarat Channukul said on Wednesday more than 900 industrial plants have been inundated by the floods, affecting more than 200,000 workers. Mr. Wannarat said manufacturers in Bang Wa (Hi-Tech) and Bang Pa In industrial estates have now halted operations to minimize damage in the event that flood water inundates the industrial zones. The minister said he will discuss ways to rehabilitate the flooded manufacturers at the cabinet meeting next Tuesday, Oct 18. Federation of Thai Industries’ automobile club vice chairman Suparat Sirisuwannangkul said the wide spreading floods would certainly affect the automobile industry on a wide scale. Several auto-part plants in Ayutthaya’s industrial estates have been inundated and this would force the carmakers to temporary halt their production-lines, Mr. Suparat said. “If the flooding continues, the target of 1.9 million units car output would not be achieved and the target will have to be lowered to less than 1.8 million,” he said. Nissan Motor (Thailand) vice president Piangchai Kaewsuwan said she had already discussed ways to rehabilitate the flooded auto-parts manufacturers after the water has receded with industry minister. This aerial picture shows cars submerged in floods waters at a Honda car factory on Oct 11, 2011. Honda Motor (Thailand) said that it is now assessing the damage caused by the flash floods. In order to restore confidence of customers, Honda announced that its submerged cars will not be offered for sales as many people fear. Flood waters bear down on capital

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra last night told people in parts of Bangkok and elsewhere in the Central Plains to brace for severe flooding, as she admitted her government was almost at its wits' end dealing with the disaster. –Bangkok Post
