Media Truth and Sabotage: Online Threats Directed against the Global Research Website
    By Global Research News
    August 31, 2013

In the course of the last few days,  the Global Research website has been subjected to persistent threats with a view to blocking access to independent reports on the evolving crisis in Syria.

On Wednesday the 28th of August following the announcement by Washington of an impending military attack directed against Syria, our online readership increased to more than 185,000.

In the days that followed, we were subjected to periodic and deliberate disruptions.

And while our site is functional thanks to our technical support, the download is slow and not all our articles are accessible.

The objective of these internet threats is to sustain the lie and foreclose the truth.

What is the truth, what is the lie?  In the words of George Orwell:  “Political language… is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidarity to pure wind.”

The mainstream media in  chorus has endorsed the lies and fabrications of the Obama administration and its indefectible British ally.

Syria is accused of using chemical weapons against it own people.

    Its a lie.

The US supported Al Qaeda affiliated rebels, which constitute the foot soldiers of the US-NATO-Israel military alliance are recruited, financed  and trained by the Pentagon and the CIA, with the support of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

From the outset in March 2011, Global Research has documented the Syrian crisis.

We have published over 700 articles on Syria.

Detailed Global Research reports and analysis refute the lies of the mainstream media:

1.The US and its allies are supporting Al Nusrah, an Al Qaeda affiliated entity which is on the State department list of terrorist organizations. Al Nusrah is financed and trained by the US and its allies including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and Israel. Al Nusrah is the main fighting force of the so-called “opposition”.

    2. Al Nusrah is responsible for countless killings of civilians and atrocities committed as part of a US sponsored intelligence operation. These atrocities have been documented. most of the Al Nusrah terrorists are foreign mercenaries.

    3. Israel is also supporting the Al Qaeda affiliated terrorists out of the Golan Heights.

    4. The US has unleashed Al Qaeda death squads inside Syria. The Obama administration is responsible for having ordered the killing of civilians, while placing the blame on the government of Bashar al Assad.

    5. US, British, French Turkish, Qatari and Israeli Special Forces have integrated the opposition terror brigades in derogation of international law.

    6. Confirmed by mainstream media reports, Turkish police reports and statements of UN observers, the rebels are in possession of chemical weapons; confirmed by CNN, the Pentagon has trained the Al Qaeda “revolutionaries” in the use of chemical weapons.

    7. America’s Al Qaeda affiliated brigades have been defeated. The ground war in May was virtually over.

    8. The US-NATO-Israel is now actively contemplating the next stage: an all out air campaign as well as “boots on the ground”.  They have deployed a naval force in the Eastern Mediterranean.

    9. They need a pretext to intervene on humanitarian ground. They are accusing the government of Bashar al Assad of using chemical weapons against the Syrian people, a nonsensical proposition.

    10. Bear in mind that the same Western governments which are accusing the Bashar Al Assad government of killing its own people have been providing the “revolutionaries” with chemical weapons.

    11. The crimes committed by al Nusrah were ordered by the Western military alliance. By supporting the terrorists, Western leaders are responsible for crimes against humanity. They have supported and financed Al Qaeda affiliated death squads.

    12. President Obama is now saying that a retaliatory strike against Syria is “needed … to protect U.S. security,” a totally absurd and criminal proposition emanating from a Nobel Peace Laureate.

Does that means that each time Obama orders the drone killing of innocent civilians in a far away country that the international community should retaliate militarily against the United States of America.

Consult our vast dossier of articles on Syria: NATO’s Next War

Learn the truth, challenge politicians in high office, confront the mainstream media, which is complicit in war crimes.

    War is a criminal undertaking.

The objective of  US-NATO is the kill the unspoken truth and destroy the independent media.

Our objective and commitment is to reverse the tide of war.

We are indebted to our readers.

More than every, we need your support. Our authors and senior editors are volunteers.

    With thanks and appreciation,

Tech Companies and Government May Soon Go to War Over Surveillance
    By Patrick Gray
    08.29.13

Everyone assumes that technology companies like Apple, Facebook, and Google don’t care that their customers are being spied on. I don’t believe that’s true.

On the very day the media dropped detailed documents on the NSA’s X-Keyscore collection program, the Facebook engineering team published a blog post stating that all access to Facebook via apps and web browsers was now SSL encrypted. Given X-Keyscore was a program primarily designed to intercept unencrypted internet traffic, you could be forgiven for interpreting Facebook’s post as a middle finger pointed in NSA’s direction. (Sources inside Facebook say it is a coincidence, and indeed the company had been in the process of enabling this across-the-board for years. But still. The timing.)

There are new interception hurdles everywhere you look. Even plain old SSL encryption is becoming more difficult to snoop on. Previously, governments could rely on complicit or compromised certificate authorities to provide them with the means to intercept encrypted traffic. Thanks to the Iranian government’s overly enthusiastic use of this technique, Google made changes to the Chrome browser to neuter the practice. Similar updates are expected soon in Internet Explorer. There goes another interception technique for law enforcement!

And it’s only going to get worse for the poor ole G-Men. Technology companies are enabling security features that make certain types of government surveillance extremely difficult, and it’s a trend that’s set to continue. That’s why the U.S. government has long wanted laws that force tech companies to make their products wiretap friendly.

New Snowden Leak Reports ‘Groundbreaking’ NSA Crypto-Cracking
    By Kevin Poulsen
    08.29.13

The latest published leak from NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden lays bare classified details of the U.S. government’s $52.6 billion intelligence budget, and makes the first reference in any of the Snowden documents to a “groundbreaking” U.S. encryption-breaking effort targeted squarely at internet traffic.

Snowden, currently living in Russia under a one-year grant of asylum, passed The Washington Post the 178-page intelligence community budget request for fiscal year 2013. Among the surprises reported by Post writers Barton Gellman and Greg Miller is that the CIA receives more money than the NSA: $14.7 billion for the CIA, versus $10.8 billion for the NSA. Until this morning it’s generally been believed that the geeky NSA, with its basements full of supercomputers, dwarfed its human-oriented counterparts.

The Post published only 43 pages from the document, consisting of charts, tables and a 5-page summary written by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. The Post said it withheld the rest, and kept some information out of its reporting, in consultation with the Obama administration to protect U.S. intelligence sources and methods.

Google, Microsoft Press Lawsuits for Right to Release More Surveillance Data

Perennial competitors in the search realm, Google and Microsoft have set down their swords to press the U.S. government in court for the right to publish statistics on secret surveillance demands against their customers, the companies said today.

In June, the two internet giants separately petitioned a federal court for permission to release the number of national security requests they get from the government for customer data. The U.S. repeatedly stalled in responding in court, asking for six extensions in two months.

Then yesterday the Obama administration announced on its own that it would begin releasing limited statistics itself: specifically the total number of national security requests it issued for customer data in the past 12 months. It will then release the same information every year going forward.

But Microsoft and Google say that doesn’t go nearly far enough. The companies will press their legal action seeking the right to release more statistics, including a breakdown of the number of requests specifically targeting user content, versus requests seeking metadata like the sender and recipient on e-mail. And they will not consent to more delays.

“[W]e believe it is vital to publish information that clearly shows the number of national security demands for user content, such as the text of an email,” Brad Smith, Microsoft’s general counsel wrote today on the company’s blog. “These figures should be published in a form that is distinct from the number of demands that capture only metadata such as the subscriber information associated with a particular email address.

The news cycle has been completely hijacked by the one-two punch of Miley Cyrus twerking at the VMAs and the relentless march to war in Syria. Thankfully, the Miley Cyrus non-story has receded.

But if the U.S. Congress votes against striking Syria and the event essentially fades into the background, what then was accomplished by all this uproar?

Has it all been one big distraction from other important stories?

Here are six important stories that have been muffled by the drumbeats of war:

Perhaps when man learns he is in a sociopathic system he will lose interest with entertainment?

There is no stopping the war. Right now sociopathy is measuring what it can get away with. At least it slowed down, is the good news I guess.

The Saga of Barrett Brown: Inside Anonymous and the War on Secrecy
    By Christian Stork
    Feb 21, 2013

Alleged “hacktivist” Barrett Brown, the 31-year old mislabeled “spokesman” for the shadowy hacker collective known as Anonymous, faces federal charges that could put him away for over a hundred years. Did he engage in a spree of murders? Run a child-sex ring? Not quite. His crime: making leaked e-mails accessible to the public — documents that shine a light on the shadowy world of intelligence contracting in the post-9/11 era.

A critically acclaimed author and provocative journalist, Brown cannot be too easily dismissed as some unruly malcontent typing away in the back of a gritty espresso lounge. He is eccentric. And he was clearly high on something, if only his own hubris, when he made a threatening video that put him in the feds’ cross-hairs. But that’s not the real reason for the government’s overreaction. Evidence indicates it has a lot more to do with sending a message to the community he comes from, which the government sees — correctly — as a threat.

The Barrett Brown case is simply the latest in a string of prosecutions in which the government pursues anyone involved in making information “liberated” from governmental or corporate entities easily accessible to the public. Those targeted are not necessarily accused of the illegal entry itself (the “hack”) or violating contracts (as in the case of a “leak”). These are people performing a function analogous to that of a newspaper — yet they can face prison sentences longer than those prescribed for murderers, rapists, and terrorists.

'Free Flow of Information Act' Targets Independent Journalism
    James Tracy/Activist Post
    Tuesday, September 17, 2013

The fact that the US Senate is now defining what a journalist actually is sets a dangerous precedent threatening the present marketplace of ideas that in recent history has been greatly expanded by the internet.

According to the text of an amendment sponsored by Senators Diane Feinstein and Dick Durbin to the proposed “Free Flow of Information Act” (PDF) that passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 12, only salaried journalists will be given the free press protections guaranteed to all US citizens by the Constitution.

Under such a law presumably only the news reporters and analysts employed by moderate-to-substantial revenue-generating news entities are regarded as “legitimate” journalists. This is because the Feinstein-Durbin amendment’s wording is especially vague on exactly what type of news organization the writer needs to be affiliated with to be able to comment and report freely.

World War 3 and Global Smart ID
    Julie Beal/Activist Post
    Sunday, September 15, 2013

The drums of war are beating, diverting our attention, as always, to the stories scripted by the mainstream media. Meanwhile, plans for the New World Order are being perfected: large-scale biomass plants, to produce anything from fuel, to paints, and plastics; the monetization of natural, human, and social capital, and an Army of Mayors to create the ‘Green’ and ‘Sustainable’ Local Communities. These Eco-municipalities will be nodes in the global network, overseen by the Master Hubs, which function like the ‘vital organs’ of the vast complex adaptive system the Internet/life has become.

We must not focus solely on the war, or the shock, but what is to come after.

The Smart World Order will be run by an all-knowing quantum computer, for optimization of the new capital (people, nature, and data) alongside the traditional products, services, and built infrastructure. Everything is to have a unique identifier, to enable the quantum algorithms and social simulations, which are required to keep the show running in what they hope will be a truly sustainable fashion. The United Nations is now calling for this ‘steady state system’, which requires an understanding of all capital stock, and all transactions. This is the oft-described trans-humanist military-industrial complex - but with a purpose, an ‘ideology’ (the FULL blueprint of Agenda 21), which may sound alluring to many.

One good EMP from ol sol would wipe out the grid TRANCOSO. I'm still hoping we move fully into the proton belt sooner then later and clean it all up.

One other thing. I did this little "heart" experiment yesterday. Using conscious intention I allowed myself to experience fear thinking of loss or inhuman atrocities being perpetuated against humanity. Not a good feeling. Next, I imagined my heart filled with peace, love and joy experiencing the connectedness to the divine. This was a great feeling.

The bottom line of this experiment is that each individual does have a choice on their attitude which has a direct impact on their emotions and physical being. Basicially we choose what we wish to focus on. I believe it is also call "free will."

This brings to mind a story of a friend of mine.. true story. As a child she was a victim of satanic ritual abuse. I won't go into the details because of how horrific they are.. however, this is what she did to survive this horrible "long-term" situation that lasted for years before she was able to free herself and move on to enjoy and happy life. While undergoing the ritual abuse she constantly sang "Christian" songs to herself and built her faith with god. Once again, this is an example of "her"free will and just how powerful it is.. and we are when we choose "Christ/Compassion/Consciousness" to focus on and hold within our hearts.

Consequently, I've come to the conclusion that our spirits are meant to be free and that our lives are"meant" to be happy. So by enjoying life (the beauty in nature, the beauty in music, the beauty in each other) we fulfill this intention. And as more people come into this awareness perhaps beauty will continue to ripple outwards to manifest once again in world politics along with various nations interactions with one another.

In conclusion, it's not that a 'one world government' is a bad thing - unless of course "bad/negative" entities are in control. Which at this particular point in time is the case. We just need to keep collectively envisioning new leaders with positive humanitarian intentions in control of the global political processes. Of course.. on a personal not, my first order of business would be to clean up the pollution on the planet.. but that may still be a ways off given the earth changes we are yet to undergo.

So if one really wants to beat the evil.. just live in alignment with the light and enjoy the beauty that is present within and without.

These videos on the CIA are excellent. Absolutely excellent. So much so that when I posted them on FB, I actually got a couple people, neither of which I would have never to expected to do so, open, watch and make positive comments.
It seems to me that the establishment of the CIA, and other black opts, are in direct disagreement with the US constitution. Clearly it states that the government cannot use a standing army against its own citizens. I guess the CIA and NSA all have "free get out of jail cards" I think the CIA has become as powerful or more so than any of our regular standing armies; and they do not have to answer or explain much of anything to anybody. When they do (i.e. Col North), the legislature doesn't really do anything......or the justice department.

So on we go just happy little campers.

I have read from several internet sites that the incoming other world "help" is not supposed to help until we are waste deep in do do. On the positive side, we are quickly moving to neck deep in do do so maybe they will step in. Like in my dream, when it did happen, it brought peace and prosperity to the entire planet.

A Warning Against Biometric Security: Apple’s iPhone 5 Already Hacked
    Melissa Melton / Activist Post
    Monday, September 23, 2013

The new iPhone 5's fingerprint ID security feature lasted all of what amounts to not even five minutes in the tech world — Chaos Computer Club is already reporting that they were able to hack the new phone:

The biometrics hacking team of the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) has successfully bypassed the biometric security of Apple’s TouchID using easy everyday means. A fingerprint of the phone user, photographed from a glass surface, was enough to create a fake finger that could unlock an iPhone 5s secured with TouchID. This demonstrates – again – that fingerprint biometrics is unsuitable as access control method and should be avoided. [emphasis added]

Essentially, using the same kind of basic tricks you’d find in an old Mission: Impossible episode, these trendy new biometric systems can be easily thwarted. And don’t forget, as security measures get more and more sophisticated (read: more and more personally invasive), criminals will simply get more and more sophisticated to keep up with the times as has been the case since time immemorial.

As we will never return to 'business as usual' 23 international thinkers, government advisers and Wall Street money-men break their silence and explain how to establish a moral and just society.

FOUR HORSEMEN is free from mainstream media propaganda - the film doesn't bash bankers, criticize politicians or get involved in conspiracy theories. It ignites the debate about how to usher a new economic paradigm into the world which would dramatically improve the quality of life for billions.

"It's Inside Job with bells on, and a frequently compelling thesis thanks to Ashcroft's crack team of talking heads - economists, whistleblowers and Noam Chomsky, all talking with candor and clarity." - Total Film

World Bank Whistleblower Karen Hudes Reveals How The Global Elite Rule The World
    Michael Snyder
    Monday, September 30, 2013
    Activist Post

Karen Hudes is a graduate of Yale Law School and she worked in the legal department of the World Bank for more than 20 years. In fact, when she was fired for blowing the whistle on corruption inside the World Bank, she held the position of Senior Counsel. She was in a unique position to see exactly how the global elite rule the world, and the information that she is now revealing to the public is absolutely stunning. According to Hudes, the elite use a very tight core of financial institutions and mega-corporations to dominate the planet.

The goal is control. They want all of us enslaved to debt, they want all of our governments enslaved to debt, and they want all of our politicians addicted to the huge financial contributions that they funnel into their campaigns. Since the elite also own all of the big media companies, the mainstream media never lets us in on the secret that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way that our system works.

Security Expert: “We Have To Assume That The NSA Has EVERYONE Who Uses Electronic Communications Under CONSTANT Surveillance”
Posted on October 4, 2013 by WashingtonsBlog

Government Is Spying On Us Through Our Computers, Phones, Cars, Buses, Streetlights, at Airports and On The Street, Via Mobile Scanners and Drones, Through Our Smart Meters, and In Many Other Ways

Security expert Bruce Schneier confirms what we’ve been saying for years … don’t get too distracted by the details, because the government is spying on everything:

Honestly, I think the details matter less and less. We have to assume that the NSA has EVERYONE who uses electronic communications under CONSTANT surveillance. New details about hows and whys will continue to emerge — for example, now we know the NSA’s repository contains travel data — but the big picture will remain the same.

John Lanchester writes in the Guardian:

This is the central point about what our spies and security services can now do. They can, for the first time, monitor everything about us, and they can do so with a few clicks of a mouse and – to placate the lawyers – a drop-down menu of justifications.

As shown below, Schneier and Lanchester are right.

The NSA is tapping the very backbone of the Internet. It then stores metadata on everyone for up to a year.

As the New York Times reported this week, the NSA is also constructing sophisticated graphs of our social connections:

Since 2010, the National Security Agency has been exploiting its huge collections of data to create sophisticated graphs of some Americans’ social connections that can identify their associates, their locations at certain times, their traveling companions and other personal information, according to newly disclosed documents and interviews with officials.

The spy agency began allowing the analysis of phone call and e-mail logs in November 2010 to examine Americans’ networks of associations for foreign intelligence purposes after N.S.A. officials lifted restrictions on the practice, according to documents provided by Edward J. Snowden, the former N.S.A. contractor.

    ***

The agency can augment the communications data with material from public, commercial and other sources, including bank codes, insurance information, Facebook profiles, passenger manifests, voter registration rolls and GPS location information, as well as property records and unspecified tax data, according to the documents. They do not indicate any restrictions on the use of such “enrichment” data, and several former senior Obama administration officials said the agency drew on it for both Americans and foreigners.

    ***

The decision to revise the limits concerning Americans was made in secret, without review by the nation’s intelligence court or any public debate. As far back as 2006, a Justice Department memo warned of the potential for the “misuse” of such information without adequate safeguards.

    ***

The agency has multiple collection programs and databases, the former officials said, adding that the social networking analyses relied on both domestic and international metadata.

    ***

A series of agency PowerPoint presentations and memos describe how the N.S.A. has been able to develop software and other tools — one document cited a new generation of programs that “revolutionize” data collection and analysis — to unlock as many secrets about individuals as possible.

    ***

Phone and e-mail logs, for example, allow analysts to identify people’s friends and associates, detect where they were at a certain time, acquire clues to religious or political affiliations, and pick up sensitive information like regular calls to a psychiatrist’s office, late-night messages to an extramarital partner or exchanges with a fellow plotter.

“Metadata can be very revealing,” said Orin S. Kerr, a law professor at George Washington University. “Knowing things like the number someone just dialed or the location of the person’s cellphone is going to allow them to assemble a picture of what someone is up to. It’s the digital equivalent of tailing a suspect.”

    ***

The N.S.A. performed the social network graphing in a pilot project for 1 ½ years “to great benefit,” according to the 2011 memo.

    ***

In the 2011 memo explaining the shift, N.S.A. analysts were told that they could trace the contacts of Americans as long as they cited a foreign intelligence justification. That could include anything from ties to terrorism, weapons proliferation or international drug smuggling to spying on conversations of foreign politicians, business figures or activists. [This definition is so broad that knowing a cheese maker in France or a climate activist in England could drag an American into the NSA surveillance net.]

    **

The documents show that significant amounts of information from the United States go into Mainway. An internal N.S.A. bulletin, for example, noted that in 2011 Mainway was taking in 700 million phone records per day. In August 2011, it began receiving an additional 1.1 billion cellphone records daily from an unnamed American service provider ….

    ***

The budget document, disclosed by Mr. Snowden, shows that the agency is pouring money and manpower into creating a metadata repository capable of taking in 20 billion “record events” daily and making them available to N.S.A. analysts within 60 minutes.

    ***

A top-secret document titled “Better Person Centric Analysis” describes how the agency looks for 94 “entity types,” including phone numbers, e-mail addresses and IP addresses. In addition, the N.S.A. correlates 164 “relationship types” to build social networks and what the agency calls “community of interest” profiles, using queries like “travelsWith, hasFather, sentForumMessage, employs.”

A 2009 PowerPoint presentation provided more examples of data sources available in the “enrichment” process, including location-based services like GPS and TomTom, online social networks, billing records and bank codes for transactions in the United States and overseas.

    ***

If the N.S.A. does not immediately use the phone and e-mail logging data of an American, it can be stored for later use, at least under certain circumstances, according to several documents.

An internal briefing paper from the N.S.A. Office of Legal Counsel showed that the agency was allowed to collect and retain raw traffic, which includes both metadata and content, about “U.S. persons” for up to five years online and for an additional 10 years offline for “historical searches.”

The NSA chief and Director of Intelligence have largely confirmed the program.

Search Engine Manipulation. Google and YouTube Suppress Controversial 9/11 Truth?
    By Elizabeth Woodworth
    Global Research, October 05, 2013

    Introduction

With polls consistently showing that approximately 50% of Canadians and Americans doubt the official story of 9/11, the feat of keeping the lid on a public debate for over 12 years has been nothing short of miraculous.

This article presents a simple case study showing that this miracle is being performed with the assistance of Google and YouTube search engine interference

On September 8, 2013, the popular Russia Today “Truthseeker” program, with over a million subscribers on YouTube,[1] published a 13-minute newscast entitled “The Truthseeker: 9/11 and Operation Gladio (E23).”

Below the video frame ran the caption:

Bigger than Watergate’: US ‘regular’ meetings with Al-Qaeda’s leader; documented White House ‘false flag terrorism’ moving people ‘like sheep’; the father of Twin Towers victim tell us why he backs this month’s 9/11 campaign on Times Square and around the world; & the protests calendar for September.
