Religion puts barriers both ways. I find it all quite distasteful to be frank. All religions. The theravada buddhists managed to convert a philosophy into a religion. I just deal with people in front of me, some I resonate with, some I dont. An ass hole is an ass hole irrespective of religion. As you say, and I agree, better not to go there.
From my travels I do know never to underestimate the kindness of strangers.
