    9/22/2010

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — At least 40 out of some 80 pilot whales that stranded themselves on a remote northern New Zealand beach have died, and more whales are joining them on land, officials said Wednesday.
It was the second mass beaching in the region in a month.

The president of the Meeting of Clientele of Azinhaga, in concelho of the Golegã, alerted this tuesday for a loss of life of “thousand of fish” in the river Almonda. Vítor Guide attributes the death of the fish to a pollutant discharge in the water course. The situation was detected no longer passed Saturday and the Service of Protecção of the Nature and Ambiente (SEPNA) of the GNR confirmed to the Lusa that if dislocated to the place in the sunday, day 19, not advancing still which the reasons of the loss of life of the fish. “Already we cannot more life thus I smell, it is insuportável and each time has more fish died in waters and in the edges of the river”, it added Vítor Guide. The autarca also alleges that the stations of residual water treatment (ETAR) of concelho nothing have to see with the pollutant discharge because. In accordance with Vítor Guide, as much the ETAR of the Golegã as the ETAR of Azinhaga is to send the volumes for the estuary of the river Tejo, in a zone downstream of where the pollutant discharge in the river Almonda was detected. This discharge is to be investigated by the SEPNA together with technician of the Hidrográfica Administration of the Region of the Tejo (ARH-Tejo), that they had collected in the place some samples of the water for analysis. The chunk of the river Almonda where if it verifies the death of the fish is placed already is of the Natural Reserve of the Paul of the Boquilobo, still related the autarca of Azinhaga.

Wildlife scientists have been scrambling for months to determine why puffer fish are dying around the Hawaiian Islands, and still do not know whether they will identify the killer.

Thierry Work, a wildlife disease specialist with the U.S. Geological Survey, said Wednesday that scientists had conducted 72 necropsies on diseased puffer fish that have been found on all the islands except Kauai.

Insects, Birds And Fish Dying In The Millions

    Million Fish Die In Colorado
At Once - 'A Lack Of Oxygen'?
    From Judith Moriarty
    3-10-7

I was having a cup of tea in the kitchen when I heard a 'brief' blurb on the news telling of a million fish that had died in the Colorado River (covering an area of 7 miles). The reason given was 'lack of oxygen'. I waited to hear more on evening broadcasts (pictures) and there was NOTHING just that 30 second announcement. When I went searching I found that this was not an aberration pertaining just to the Colorado, but was happening in all parts of the country (rivers & lakes) and to put the people, who blame farmer's fertilizer at ease, many of these areas had no farms anywhere near them. Tens of thousands of fish have been found in California, Oregon, Washington State, Pennsylvania, and the Potomac etc. Looking further, I found that this is happening world wide, from Romania to China! Combine these massive die-offs with thousands of dead whales, sea turtles, porpoises, birds, honey bees, and butterflies.well, it's not hard to reason that the planet is dying. These massive deaths appear to be reported only locally and never making it to the national scene or an all out alarm by the EPA or environmental (corporate sponsored) groups?

When it comes to ocean die offs three things come to mind:

    - Magnetic fields altered for migrating fish/mammals
    - toxic conditions (poison/lack of oxygen/contamination of one sort or another)
    - submarine navel underwater experiments

Gene-flaw, virus could be killing Pacific salmon

    Jan 13 2011

    http://pda.physorg.com/news/2011-01-gene-flaw-virus-pacific-salmon.htm

Massive die-offs among Canada's wild sockeye salmon could be due to a genetic flaw that causes immune weakness and could make viruses lethal, researchers said Thursday.

Between 40 and 95 percent of the adult sockeye population has died in recent years, delivering a serious blow to the one billion dollar fishing industry in British Columbia and causing concern that some stocks may go extinct.

Growing low-oxygen zones in oceans worry scientists

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh5Ev8VEbZ0&feature=player_embedded#!

WASHINGTON — Lower levels of oxygen in the Earth's oceans, particularly off the United States' Pacific Northwest coast, could be another sign of fundamental changes linked to global climate change, scientists say.

They warn that the oceans' complex undersea ecosystems and fragile food chains could be disrupted.
    Read more: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2010/03/07/89918/growing-low-oxygen-zones-in-oceans.html#ixzz1BVLUsaWf

In March 2004, when the recently-established UN Environment Programme published its first Global Environment Outlook Year Book (GEO Year Book 2003) it reported 146 dead zones in the world's oceans where marine life could not be supported due to depleted oxygen levels. Some of these were as small as a square kilometre (0.4 mi²), but the largest dead zone covered 70,000 square kilometres (27,000 mi²). A 2008 study counted 405 dead zones worldwide.

BP – THE SPILLER by Dr. Thomas B. Manton
    Posted on January 22, 2011

BP – The Spiller (Article #4 in a series of 5)

    http://oilandgasleaks.wordpress.com/2011/01/22/bp-the-spiller-by-dr-thomas-b-manton/

    ....

Now let us come to the modern day events in which BP – a largely British-owned company has done two things that will shock most Americans. As mentioned above, BP is the largest producer of oil in the United States.

In addition, I would like to quote directly from the well-known Wikipedia about the BP holdings in Iran.

“BP continued to operate in Iran until the Islamic Revolution in 1979. After 1979, during the Iran-Iraq war, the oil refineries were destroyed and Iran became a raw supplier of oil. The new regime of Ayatollah Khomeini broke all prior oil contracts and signed new contracts with British Petroleum with 90% to BP and 10% to Ayatollah Khomeini and his followers.”

    ...

Now let us examine the track record of BP as regards safety in the United States. I quote all this material from Wikipedia.

    “1993–1995: Hazardous substance dumping

(Dr. Thomas B. Manton, former President and CEO of the International Oil Spill Control Corporation has been recently killed. )

Dead herring wash ashore on second beach in Cedar
    Robert Barron, Postmedia News
    Published: Tuesday, January 25, 2011

    http://www2.canada.com/victoriatimescolonist/news/capital_van_isl/story.html?id=5e99abb2-1a99-471d-8ea9-afe312088e43

Another beach in Cedar has been found covered with hundreds of dead herring that washed ashore.
The fish were found Monday near the beach house in Cedar-By-The-Sea, a short distance from the beach north of Boat Harbour where Will Meeks found a large number of dead herring on Friday.
Brenda Spence, a spokeswoman for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, speculated early Monday -- before the latest discovery -- that sea lions eating through nets used in the food and bait herring fishery in the Georgia Strait was the likely cause of the first incident.

As tragic as all of this is if the fish are not contaminaated (which may not be the case) they could be used as fertilizer. Bury the dead and let it decompose in the earth.

    When North Goes South
Sunday February 6 at 8 pm ET on CBC News Network

    Watch this program online.
    http://www.cbc.ca/documentaries/natureofthings/video.html?ID=1678474875
    45:06 min

The earth has two North poles, the geographic and the magnetic. The magnetic pole is the one that attracts the needles of our compasses. It’s always moving, but could it be about to flip? What will be the impact? Paleomagnetism has taught us that the magnetic pole flips regularly, going from north to south and vice versa, once every 250,000 years on average. However, the last inversion occurred 780,000 years ago! Are we on the eve of such a major event?

When North Goes South follows Canadian geophysicist Larry Newitt and French geologist Jean-Jacques Orgeval as they meet astronauts, marine biologists, paleo and archeomagneticians, in an attempt to understand, measure and explain the consequences of a pole inversion.

When North Goes South is directed and produced by Yanick Rose and Stéphane Nicolopoulos for TGA Production and Idéacom International. F.M. Morrison is Senior Producer for The Nature of Things.
