    [6,000 years ago the Sahara Desert was a lush grassland with lakes far bigger than the Great Lakes. It looks like the those conditions are coming back . . . SC]

    Five times the average rainfall drops in a single month over the north African Sahel overtopping dams in Sudan and causing record floods in Oman and Ethiopia. Desert sand storms and desert tornadoes have occurred from the UAE to Algeria. These are signals that a desert re-greening cycle has begun.
