That filthy blood running through Mother Earth's veins and the lack of safety measures taken.
    This is inadmissable.
There is got to be a better way to go about this.

It's A Big One': Iowa Pipeline Leaks Nearly 140,000 Gallons Of Diesel

    January 26, 2017

An underground pipeline that runs through multiple Midwestern states has leaked an estimated 138,000 gallons of diesel fuel, according to the company that owns it, Magellan Midstream Partners.

Clay Masters of Iowa Public Radio reported diesel leaking from a 12-inch underground pipe was initially spotted in a farm field in north-central Worth County, Iowa, on Wednesday morning. Officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Iowa Department of Natural Resources joined representatives of Magellan and other local officials at the site, Masters reported.

"It's a big one — it's significant," Jeff Vansteenburg of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources told the Des Moines Register.

"The product is under pressure, so as soon as a leak develops, it starts coming out pretty fast," Vansteenburg said at a Wednesday evening news conference. "Vacuum trucks are sucking up as much liquid as they can and taking that down to Magellan's terminal. ... Once they've recovered all the free product that they can then they will go in and remove contaminated soil."

Vansteenburg said the diesel had not reached nearby Willow Creek or a wildlife protection area.

A safety plan submitted by the company to the U.S. Department of Transportation in 2014 lists the pipeline, which runs through Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin, as a transport route for multiple refined oil products, "including Diesel, Gasoline, Jet fuel, Natural gasoline, Naptha, Propane, Natural Gas, Butane."

Maps of the pipeline were redacted from the public version of the report.

The leak occurred when the pipeline ruptured and diesel sprayed out, a spokesperson for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources told the Register.

More than a foot of snow has fallen since Monday in some parts of north-central Iowa. As of Wednesday afternoon, cleanup crews had sucked up "about 25,000 gallons of diesel and a slush-diesel mixture," reported the Globe Gazette newspaper in Mason City, Iowa.

    ....

"According to PHMSA, the agency has 533 inspectors on its payroll. That works out to around one inspector for every 5,000 miles of pipe. A government audit in October [2016] found that that PHMSA is behind on implementing new rules. It has 41 mandates and recommendations related to pipeline safety that await rulemaking." wrote:

    And yet another one

Canada oil pipeline spills 50,000 gallons on aboriginal land

TORONTO — A pipeline in the western Canadian province of Saskatchewan has leaked 200,000 liters (52,834 gallons) of oil in an aboriginal community, the provincial government said today.

The government was notified late in the afternoon on Friday, and 170,000 liters of oil have since been recovered, said Doug McKnight, deputy minister in the Ministry of the Economy, which regulates pipelines in Saskatchewan.

Oil pipelines are viewed by the oil-rich provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan as a critical lifeline to move crude to the coast, but they have drawn fierce opposition from environmental and indigenous groups.

The spill came seven months after another major incident in Saskatchewan, in which a Husky Energy Inc pipeline leaked 225,000 liters into a major river and cut off drinking water supply for two cities.

It was not immediately clear how the current incident happened or which company owns the underground pipeline that leaked the oil.

McKnight said Tundra Energy Marketing Inc, which has a line in the vicinity of the spill, is leading cleanup efforts.

“There are a number of pipes in the area,” he told reporters in Regina. “Until we excavate it, we won't know with 100-percent certainty which pipe.”

Tundra, a privately-held unit of Canadian grain trading and energy conglomerate James Richardson and Sons Ltd, declined to comment but said it will issue a statement later in the day.

The incident happened in the lands of the Ocean Man First Nation 140 km (87 miles) southeast of the provincial capital of Regina, according to the province.

McKnight said the spill has been contained in the low-lying area in which it was discovered. Ocean Man Chief Connie Big Eagle said the spill was 15 meters (50 feet) in diameter on Friday.

Ocean Man First Nation has 540 residents, one-third of whom live on the reserve, Big Eagle said.

Dealmaker! Trump moves pipeline away from tribal land, and building it with American steel. Natives happy, MSM will not report!

Thanks Carol here is what I could found regarding this :

What They Tell You: Trump Is Restarting The Pipeline.
What They Don't Tell You: It's 70 Miles From Standing Rock And Made With American Steel

    Economy, Environment, Politics

If the United States is to become more energy independent, some say, then it is imperative that additional oil and gas pipeline infrastructure is built. And that includes the Keystone XL and the Dakota Access Pipelines, which is why President Donald Trump has signed executive orders to allow permitting to be streamlined.

But the key question is whether presidential support can overcome the economics of the Keystone project, as well as the fierce environmental opposition to it and the Dakota line. While the president has the power the microphone, he does not have the power of a monarch. The lines still need the approval of the states they'll operate in.

Both pipelines have become political symbols, with Keystone turning into the dividing line between climate activists and those who just wanted to send Canadian tar sands into the Lower 48 through the pipelines instead of by rail car. Opponents cite the danger to water quality and the rights of Native Americans, and have branded the battles as the people versus Big Oil: TransCanda Corp. and Energy Transfer Partners, respectively.

“We will build our own pipeline, we will build our own pipes, like we used to, in the old days,” Trump said, as he signed the orders, insisting that it will be done with U.S. steel and labor.

    ...

Just how is oil and natural gas transported in this country? Natural gas, of course, moves exclusively by pipeline unless it is liquefied and shipped overseas by tanker. Oil, meantime, uses pipelines 70 percent of the time, river barges 23 percent, trucks 4 percent and railway 3 percent. Of note, analysts say that it can cost as much as five times more to transport oil by rail than it does pipe, for moderate to long distances.

As for Dakota, Energy Partners says that the line would eliminate as many as 740 rail cars and 250 trucks. It also says that the line is 70 miles from the Standing Rock Sioux's water resources in North Dakota.

Keystone, meanwhile, would deliver 900,000 barrels of crude that would flow from Canada and would help ease imports from more distant sources like the Middle East. And, if TransCanada the architect of the would-be line, were so inclined, it would pipe its fuel westward before having it shipped to Asia. That would create even more emissions than a direct link to the Lower 48.

North Dakota tribe formally calls on pipeline protesters to disperse

A Sioux tribal council on Saturday formally asked hundreds of protesters to clear out of three camps near its North Dakota reservation used to stage months of sometimes violent protests against the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe on Friday unanimously passed a resolution calling for the camps to be dismantled, it said on its Facebook page on Saturday. The tribe has been encouraging protesters to go home since the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers agreed to an environmental review of the $3.8 billion project in December.

In my personal opinion the protestors should be held financially accountable for this. Along with the trash they left behind their dogs too. A local animal shelter rescued six dogs, bringing the total number of dogs rescued at the sites to 12. What type of people who claim that they are out to save the environment trash it instead and leave behind their animals for someone else to rescue? Something to think about. Paid protestors? More then likely.

Federal Officials Haul Off 800 Garbage Dumpsters at Dakota Access Pipeline Protest Campsites

The Army Corps of Engineers completed its $1.1 million cleanup of the now vacant Sacred Stone campsite Thursday after sanitation crews hauled away 835 dumpsters full of trash left behind by people who opposed the pipeline.
