Solar Storm - Earth facing CME and close Astroid Fly-by this weekend - Feb 15th!

Brian Gumble the NBC newscaster reports first:"There are TWO THINGS 'TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT' this weekend....and WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT EITHER ONE!" Then he goes on to explain that an astroid the size of a 17 story building (I believe this is somewhat LARGER than the original NASA discription of one the size of 1/2 of a football field!) will fly-by the earth. Satillite owners have been told to attempt to keep their units out of the path of this astroid. It's traveling at the rate of a gunshot--very fast. NOTHING can be done about it at this time. Australia will have the best night-time view. ALSO, we are set to get an earth-facing CME this weekend. We will have only a 30-minute "heads-up" on it and there's nothing that can be done about THAT one either!

North Korea is preparing to carry out two nuclear tests, either simultaneously or in rapid succession, to demonstrate to the world the advances it has made in its weapons programme, according to intelligence reports.

COMET LEMMON UPDATE: Glowing much brighter than expected, Comet Lemmon (C/2012 F6) is gliding through the skies of the southern hemisphere. Northern hemisphere observers will get their first good look at the comet in early April.

3. Solar Kill Shot - Lots of activity with the sun.

CHANCE OF FLARES: NOAA forecasters estimate a 25% chance of M-class solar flares today. The probable source would be sunspot AR1667, which produced many C-flares and a loud burst of shortwave radio static over the weekend. http://www.spaceweather.com

Geophysical events will take out the grid. X-rays and protons in a period of 24-48 hours can take out satellites. When this happens there will be atmospheric events. With the grid down transportation of goods will be down, gas can't be pumped, water can't be pumped.

Pane Andov predicted this March would be a period where the sun will be very active. Courtney Brown's RV group saw astroid(s) impacting the planet in the southern hemisphere near Australia the first half of 2013. We just have to wait and see if this is what unfolds this year on this particular timeline. After that - no more predictions or RV info available that we'er aware of at this time.

NORTH Korea, poised to conduct a nuclear test any day now, has posted a video on YouTube depicting a US city resembling New York engulfed in flames after an apparent missile attack.

The footage was uploaded on Saturday by the North's official website, Uriminzokkiri, which distributes news and propaganda from the state media.

The video is shot as a dream sequence, with a young man seeing himself on board a North Korean space shuttle launched into orbit by the same type of rocket Pyongyang successfully tested last December.

As the shuttle circles the globe - to the tune of "We Are the World" - the video zooms in on countries below, including a joyfully re-unified Korea.

The focus then switches to a city - shrouded in the US flag - under apparent missile attack with its skyscrapers, including what appears to be the Empire State Building, either on fire or in ruins.


"Somewhere in the United States, black clouds of smoke are billowing," runs the caption across the screen.

"It seems that the nest of wickedness is ablaze with the fire started by itself," it added.

The video ends with the young man concluding that his dream will "surely come true".

SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has pulled manpower and equipment from its nuclear test site, government sources said Monday, a possible sign of an imminent nuclear blast.

The South Korean government has been keeping a close watch on North Korea as no movement of manpower and equipment has been observed since Friday at the country's Punggye-ri nuclear test site, the sources said.

However, it's unclear whether the withdrawal is temporary or not, they said.

North Korea has warned of a third atomic test since last month but did not specify a date.

"When manpower and equipment are withdrawn, it can be an indication that a nuclear test is imminent," one source said, requesting that he not be identified. "We're watching the developments closely to know whether a nuclear test is imminent or it's another deceptive tactic."

Another Seoul government source said the withdrawal appears to be something to do with the Lunar New Year's holiday that North Korea celebrates for three days starting on Sunday.

Seoul officials predicted that Pyongyang may carry out its threatened third nuclear test between the end of the holiday and late leader Kim Jong-il's birth anniversary of Feb. 16.

On Feb. 15th an asteroid about half the size of a football field will fly past Earth closer than many man-made satellites. Since regular sky surveys began in the 1990s, astronomers have never seen an object so big come so close to our planet.

FILAMENT ERUPTION: Solar activity is low, but not zero. During the early hours of Feb. 13th, a magnetic filament erupted near the sun's SW limb. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the blast:T he extreme UV movie shows the filament flinging itself into space followed by the formation of a "canyon of fire" marking the channel formerly occupied by the filament. The glowing walls of the canyon are formed in a process closely related to that of arcade loops, which appear after many solar flares.
As erupting magnetic filaments often do, this one launched a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. NASA's STEREO-A spacecraft spotted the expanding cloud, which does not appear to be heading for Earth or any other planet.

VALENTINE'S DAY MAGNETIC STORM: Valentine's Day in Scandinavia began with a magnetic storm. Rob Stammes of the Polar Light Center in Lofoten, Norway, reports: "Our instruments recorded 2o swings in the local magnetic field, which induced strong electrical currents in the ground outside our lab." The needles on his chart recorder were swining wildly: "Overhead we saw some fantastic auroras," he adds. The storm was caused by a region of south-pointing magnetism in the solar wind that wafted past Earth during the early hours of Feb. 14th. The solar wind's south-pointing magnetic field partially canceled Earth's north-pointing magnetic field, opening a crack in our planet's magnetosphere. Solar wind poured in to fuel the storm.

In 2012 there was a cumulative 0.033% risk (1 in 3,030) of 2012 DA14 impacting Earth sometime between 2026 and 2069.[19] In 2012 it was also known that the asteroid would pass no closer to Earth's surface than 3.2 Earth radii during the 2013 passage.[8] Eliminating an entry on the Sentry Risk Table is a negative prediction; a prediction of where it will not be.

A series of explosions in the skies of Russia’s Urals region, reportedly caused by a meteor shower, has sparked panic in three major cities. Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working. Atmospheric phenomena have been registered in the cities of Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen. In Chelyabinsk, witnesses said the explosion was so loud that it resembled an earthquake and thunder at the same time, and that there were huge trails of smoke across the sky. Others reported seeing burning objects fall to earth. Police in the Chelyabinsk region are reportedly on high alert, and have enacted the ‘Fortress’ plan in order to protect vital infrastructure. Office buildings in downtown Chelyabinsk are being evacuated. Injuries were reported at one of the city’s secondary schools, supposedly from smashed windows. No other injuries have been reported so far. An emergency message published on the website of the Chelyabinsk regional authority urged residents to pick up their children from school and remain at home if possible.

Apophis The Asteroid That May be a Threat To Earth... NOT DA14

Apophis 99942 is a near-Earth asteroid that caused a brief period of concern in December 2004 because initial observations indicated a probability of up to 2.7% that it would strike the Earth in 2029.

Additional observations provided improved predictions that eliminated the possibility of an impact on Earth or the Moon in 2029. However, a possibility remained that during the 2029 close encounter with Earth, Apophis would pass through a gravitational keyhole, a small region no more than about 800 m (half a mile) wide, that would set up a future impact on April 13, 2036.

The diameter of Apophis is approximately 325 metres (1,066 ft). As of the December 29, 2012 observation arc, the probability of an April 13, 2036 impact is considered to be 1 in 11,000,000.
