FUKUSHIMA — WHAT’S HAPPENING AND WHAT WE CAN DO

    By Kimberly Carter Gamble

Fortunately, the veil of secrecy surrounding the Fukushima catastrophe is lifting, but the accuracy of the news about the severity of the fallout is hard to decipher. It’s emotionally exhausting for so many people, especially in Japan, Hawaii, the Pacific Islands and here on the West Coast of North America. What is actually true? Is it safe to swim in the ocean on the West Coast? Are all fish in the North Pacific contaminated?

Unfortunately, attempts to ascertain the true consequences could take years. I do know from my own research that there is no absolutely “safe” place to go once nuclear radiation is unleashed. Some places are more intense than others, but years ago, as a journalist studying radioactive waste disposal in the oceans, I saw firsthand how Japan’s waste flows through the Pacific Islands around the world. Wind and water circulate around the globe, from one hemisphere to the other, with stunning thoroughness. We all live downstream.

I also know without a doubt that nuclear power is unquantifiably and unjustifiably dangerous, and no new plants should be built.

And yet in 2012, after the Fukushima accident, President Obama lifted a 30-year moratorium on building new plants in America. Five have been green-lighted. Over 60 reactors are currently slated for construction around the world.

You can help stop these facilities from happening, and avert another disaster.

Nuclear power plants get built with loans from major banks, and the banks make these loans with money they get from your deposits. Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Union Bank and Union Bank of California, Chase, US Bancorp, US Bank National, Morgan Stanley, US Bancorp, Credit Suisse and US Bank National are the ones using your deposits to fund the companies behind the new reactors in the US.

If your credit card has a logo from one of these banks, then every time you use it, or make a deposit, you are personally underwriting the potential destruction of everything you hold dear.

I invite any of you outside the US to look up what company is funding the plant in your country and publicize it here. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to follow the money.

According to physician, author and long-time anti-nuclear advocate, Dr. Helen Caldicott, “No dose of radiation is safe…and all radiation is cumulative” in the body. Albert Einstein was quoted saying “nuclear power is a hell of a way to boil water.” Indeed, nuclear is just that, a way to boil water to create steam. It is the most dangerous and expensive way to generate electricity. Why should we risk all life on Earth by unleashing the most dangerous pollutant ever discovered when there are safe, sustainable and cheap alternatives, including “New Energy” technologies that we are helping to develop through Thrive Movement? Already California’s annual installed capacity from solar is nearly twice as much as the risky, Diablo Nuclear Plant.

FUKUSHIMA — WHAT’S HAPPENING AND WHAT WE CAN DO Empty Tom Kenyon's sound meditation for Fukushima

    Post  B.B.Baghor Sat Feb 08, 2014 6:00 pm

Thank you, Mudra, for this topic on Fukushima. Here's a method, offered by Tom Kenyon. It's a way to actually do something with that situation. See if this is appealing to you, it's a suggestion and invitation, to those of us that are healers and feel a resonance with the Hathors. I know I do.

Here's the link: http://tomkenyon.com/fukushima and I add a part of it here:

    "Tom’s Thoughts and Observations

Shortly after the Japanese earthquake of 2011, which severely damaged the Daiichi Nuclear Facility at Fukushima, I was in meditation when I unexpectedly found myself on an imaginal cliff overlooking the island of Japan.

A Tibetan Buddhist lama by the name of Yabsong Rinpoche was sitting by my side. He pointed down and said “Soon the entire world will be suffering like Japan.”

It would seem that his words are turning out to be sadly prophetic.

It is not in the scope, or the purpose of this message, to discuss the many ecological danger signals that point to Fukushima. Anyone interested in exploring the increasingly large pool of data, beyond the superficial treatment of the crisis by our mainstream media, can find a lot on the Internet by doing a search of the words “Fukushima radiation,” “Fukushima core meltdown,” and “Fukushima debris field.”

I would just urge you to keep your “wits” about you as there is a lot of erroneous and hyperbolic information floating out there about the disaster. The facts are scary enough without having to go into unsubstantiated speculation. For the sake of clarity I would suggest reading reports from reputable scientists—especially those in the fields of nuclear energy, ecology and the marine sciences, as well as those who work in the fields of epidemiological research (meaning where cancer and radiation related illnesses are increasing in various populations including Japan and North America). I would also give more weight to respected alternative news sources. In my opinion these include, but are certainly not limited to, The Huffington Post (www.huffingtonpost.com), Energy News (www.enenews.com), Simply Info (www.fukuleaks.org), The Guardian (www.theguardian.com), and Greenpeace (www.greenpeace.org)".

May your face bring smiles in your day.

I did the Hathor meditation at BB's suggestion and it led me to the following information, which I think needs to be spread in conjunction with the knowledge of the radiation itself.  It might be a by-product of it that is just as dangerous and I'm sure it won't be mentioned by the 'experts' either. But could it be used in some way to help? I don't know.

The comments section is full of interesting data as well, seemingly showing that the extra radiation in the air is causing more and more of these fungi to grow, causing sickness and death as a result.  I found this comment particularly interesting.......

I wonder if global warming has anything to do with this. Since the 1700s because of the industrial revolution creation, this human activity… the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gasoline have greatly increased the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere— these along with other gases like methane and nitrous oxide__the CO2 they increase acts like a blanket, absorbing (IR) ionizing radiation and preventing it from leaving the atmosphere. The net effect causes the gradual heating of Earth’s atmosphere and surface causing global warming.

“Fungi seem to interact with the (IR) ionizing radiation differently from other Earth’s inhabitants. There is considerable evidence that fungi respond to radiation in a manner that may differ from other life forms. Large quantities of highly melanized fungal spores have been found in early Cretaceous period deposits when many species of animals and plants died out. This period coincides with Earth’s crossing the “magnetic zero” resulting in the loss of its “shield” against cosmic radiation” (2). from government website: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2677413.

Apparently this global warming human activity is preventing IR ionizing radiation from leaving Earth’s atmosphere which may result in the increase in fungi growth.
