Someone has to interview this guy: Scott Owen (believersunderground)

At first I thought this guy was crazy, but he predicted the oil rig sinking so I persevered, got past his antics, and I'm glad I did. His subject is not covered that I know of in the truth movement: nuclear fallout (he insists on Chernobyl) send huge amounts of heavy metal airborne then deposited on ice caps all over the world, causing the ice to melt, and in return we are now witnessing a post glacial rebound. Heavy metals melt ice. This is why we are using coal ash to melt ice in winter, because it contains heavy metals and they melt ice.

We have Deagle saying that there is radioactivity everywhere and Scott Owen says this too. But that's it. Scott's story is mostly about post glacial rebound being the #1 cause of the current Earth changes. He backs it up pretty well and I have a feeling he would back it up much better if a scientific mind like Bill Ryan was interviewing him. He only gave 2 interviews so far. One with the TrutherGirls and one with Jungle Apocalypse. They were not able to ask the right questions to get him to lay his facts straight but the Jungle Apocalypse is not too bad and I invite you to listen to it:
    http://www.jungleapocalypse.com/featured/mega-quake-scott-from-believers-underground-the-jungle-apocalypse-podcast-episode-15/

That would also be a good idea to read about nuclear fallout and post glacial rebound:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-glacial_rebound

FYI, I heard of him in the Gulf oil thread because he predicted rigs sinking Jan 18:

You can have a preview of the Jungle Apocalypse interview here in the youtube but the full audio in mp3 is at this link:

I found some time tonight to go over the different links on this thread . Haven't finished yet .
    It's very interesting metaw .
I posted something today on the oil spill thread : "hydrothermal vents " that relates to your thread .
I also begin to see how the melting of the ice caps seem to go hand and glove with the expansion process of the Earth.
Thank you and well done on giving some persistence to your research on Scott's work.

    Metaw3,

    Great thread.
Reading listening and catching up on this side of thngs. as Mudra said, things are really dove tailing. Reminds me of that cropcircle of the swallows some 3 or 4 yrs ago. Don't you just lve it when a plan comes together.

Inés, thanks for the heads up.
Got my head down so I will try and post when I can just on thoughts related. Alot on next week.

Thank you for your replies. So much things make sense with this theory. It's simple, logical. I like it. thetruthergirls here sums it up well (about the theory and about the guy's antics as well):

    - new water weight pushes sea floor down;
    - no global warming yet ice caps melting;

This seal was washed up on Scotland's east
coast. The severe injuries appear to be caused by a bladed device.
Scientists have ruled out military craft, fishing nets and boat
    propellers

‘We are finding seals coming ashore dead
with these highly unusual lacerations right around their body like a
spiral. ‘From their head down they can have one or two complete revolutions to their abdomen. ‘It is a continuous cut with a very smooth edge.’The injuries are not consistent with
any known phenomenon, such as those caused by fishing nets or boat
propellers, although researchers believe they are mechanically produced
    by a rotating single blade.While
seals have learned to be wary of approaching boats and tend to swim
away from them, researchers believe it is possible the animals are being
sucked into the propeller blade of an as yet unidentified vessel. But the investigation has failed to find any
kind of offshore machinery capable of producing such wounds.

Greenland ice sheet faces 'tipping point in 10 years'

Scientists warn that temperature rise of between 2C and 7C would cause ice to melt, resulting in 23ft rise in sea level

    Suzanne Goldenberg, US environment correspondent
    guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 10 August 2010

In January, he predicted oil rigs sinking. Someone has to interview this guy. Ice-Island-calves-off-Pet-006
An enormous chunk of ice, roughly 97 square miles in size, has broken off the Petermann Glacier along the northwest coast of Greenland.

    Photograph: Aqua/Modis/Nasa

The entire ice mass of Greenland will disappear from the world map if temperatures rise by as little as 2C, with severe consequences for the rest of the world, a panel of scientists told Congress today.

Greenland shed its largest chunk of ice in nearly half a century last week, and faces an even grimmer future, according to Richard Alley, a geosciences professor at Pennsylvania State University

"Sometime in the next decade we may pass that tipping point which would put us warmer than temperatures that Greenland can survive," Alley told a briefing in Congress, adding that a rise in the range of 2C to 7C would mean the obliteration of Greenland's ice sheet.

The fall-out would be felt thousands of miles away from the Arctic, unleashing a global sea level rise of 23ft (7 metres), Alley warned. Low-lying cities such as New Orleans would vanish.

"What is going on in the Arctic now is the biggest and fastest thing that nature has ever done," he said.

Speaking by phone, Alley was addressing a briefing held by the House of Representatives committee on energy independence and global warming.

Greenland is losing ice mass at an increasing rate, dumping more icebergs into the ocean because of warming temperatures, he said.

The stark warning was underlined by the momentous break-up of one of Greenland's largest glaciers last week, which set a 100 sq mile chunk of ice drifting into the North Strait between Greenland and Canada.

The briefing also noted that the last six months had set new temperature records.

Robert Bindschadler, a research scientist at the University of Maryland, told the briefing: "While we don't believe it is possible to lose an ice sheet within a decade, we do believe it is possible to reach a tipping point in a few decades in which we would lose the ice sheet in a century."

The ice loss from the Petermann Glacier was the largest such event in nearly 50 years, although there have been regular and smaller "calvings".

Petermann spawned two smaller breakaways: one of 34 sq miles in 2001 and another of 10 sq miles in 2008.

Andreas Muenchow, professor of ocean science at the University of Delaware, who has been studying the Petermann glacier for several years, said he had been expecting such a break, although he did not anticipate its size.

He also argued that much remains unknown about the interaction between Arctic sea ice, sea level, and temperature rise.

Muenchow told the briefing that over the last seven years he had only received funding to measure ocean temperatures near the Petermann Glacier for a total of three days.

He was also reduced, because of a lack of funding, to paying his own airfare and that of his students to they could join up with a Canadian icebreaker on a joint research project in the Arctic.

Mystery of dead seals washing up in North Norfolk : a link to cattle mutilation ?
    13 august 2010

    Read more: http://gazbom.blogspot.com/2010/08/mystery-of-dead-seals-washing-up-in.html#ixzz0xcoWIeZG

All dead seals have the same injury

The deaths of 38 seals which washed up on the North Norfolk coast are being investigated by police.

The dead mammals, a mixture of common and grey seals, have been appearing on beaches in Blakeney, Morston and Wells since November.

The animals all suffered laceration-type injuries which are believed to have eventually caused their deaths.

Two seals have been the subject of post-mortem examinations, but the results are not yet known.

    Link to cattle mutilations?

When I posted this today I realized at once I have seen this type of injury before, many times, the wound you see above is very similar to the cattle mutilations reported by farmers from around the world!

    21 AUGUST 2009
SASKATOON — RCMP continue to investigate the discovery of a mutilated cow north of Saskatoon.

On Wednesday, Neil Bartsch found the dead animal on a patch of bloody grass in a pasture off 71st Street between Idylwyld Drive and Highway 16.

The cow's genitals and udder are missing, the flesh part of its head is stripped to the bone, and the tongue is gone. It's likely the two-year-old cow was dead for up to 36 hours before Bartsch found it in the pasture that he has rented for nearly 20 years.

Neil and Mary Bartsch believe the cow had been stabbed and that parts of the animal had been deliberately cut out, but a veterinarian and professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan is not convinced.

"That's very typical of scavenging," said Dr. John Campbell, who examined the carcass in the pasture.

"Magpies and coyotes will go for those areas (the rear, abdomen and internal organs) very typically. It's soft tissue."

He concedes that it's not as common for scavengers to chew at the tongue and head area, but he wonders if dogs, in addition to coyotes, might have gotten to the carcass.

A necropsy will not be performed on the cow.

"It was fairly decomposed. You couldn't really make a whole lot of conclusions about why she died," said Campbell.

The Bartschs, who's farm yard is closer to Warman, still think something suspicious happened.

"This was not an animal (that inflicted the wounds)," says Mary.

"You hear about this from time to time. . . . We're kind of in shock. We're not sure quite what to do now."

Bartsch's other cattle in the pasture, six cows and their calves as well as a bull, remain healthy and unharmed.

Collapse of ancient Ellesmere ice shelf stuns scientists
“The ice seems to be fracturing all over the Arctic once again”

In January, he predicted oil rigs sinking. Someone has to interview this guy. Nasa-modis-wardhunt100818

A huge chunk of ice about the size of Bermuda has cracked off Canada’s largest remaining Arctic ice shelf.

The ancient slab of ice, measuring about 50 square kilometres in area and almost 400 metres thick, broke away from the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf on Ellesmere Island’s northern coast last week, the Canadian Ice Service said Aug. 25.

“The whole northeast quarter seems to have gone,” said Trudy Wohlleben, a senior ice forecaster at the service, who first noticed cracks developing on the shelf in early August. Satellite images over the last week have confirmed the huge chunk of ancient ice shelf has broken away, she says.

The breakup points to the profound change underway in the Arctic and the accelerating loss of a unique and “majestic” part of Canada’s landscape, says John England, University of Alberta earth scientist.

The Ward Hunt is the largest of the remaining ice shelves that have clung to Ellesmere Island for 3,000 to 5,000 years. They contain the oldest sea ice in the northern hemisphere, England says, and have no counterpart in Greenland or Russia.

“They’re our California redwoods, they’re our pyramids, they’re a really unique, intriguing aspect of our Canadian landscape,” says England. “And they are disappearing.”

The fracturing of such a large chuck of the Ward Hunt is one of the more remarkable changes Wohlleben and her colleagues have seen in the Arctic this summer, which has seen plenty of action.

“This year, the ice seems to be fracturing all over the Arctic once again,” Wohlleben said in an interview, noting that 2009 had been quiet compared to 2008 and 2007.

Wohlleben was also the first to spot a gargantuan chunk of ice that calved off Greenland’s Petermann Glacier this summer. It is about 251 square kilometres in size - four times the size of Manhattan - and is drifting toward Canadian waters.

While the Greenland iceberg is much bigger, England says the loss of such a big chunk of the Ward Hunt shelf is in some ways more significant because the ice is so old.

“It’s not like these things come and go every few years or decades,” says England, noting that it would take centuries of cold weather to regrow Ellesmere’s ice shelves. “We can’t just sweep it under the carpet and say ‘It’s one of nature’s cycles’,” he said of the disintegration that shows little sign of letting up.

There are still several weeks to go before the Arctic ice pack reaches its minimum for this year. At this stage Wohlleben says it doesn’t look as if this will break the record ice retreat seen in 2007.

“But it will be close,” she said.

Another oil rig catches fire in the Gulf

    Updated: Sep 09, 2010 5:55 PM

MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) - Another oil rig platform in the Gulf of Mexico fell victim to fire Thursday morning.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, a fire sparked on a rig 75 miles south of Morgan City around 8:55 a.m.

Officials said no one was on board the platform at the time and no injuries were reported.

They added the rig was a non-producing oil platform.

The fire has been put out.

The Coast Guard said the rig is owned by Mariner Energy.

Mariner also owned the platform that caught fire last week in the Gulf.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is the lead agency investigating this recent fire, but the Coast Guard is offering support where needed.

A piece of ice four times the size of Manhattan island has broken away from an ice shelf in Greenland, according to scientists in the U.S.

The 260 square-kilometer (100 square miles) ice island separated from the Petermann Glacier in northern Greenland early on Thursday, researchers based at the University of Delaware said.

The ice island, which is about half the height of the Empire State Building, is the biggest piece of ice to break away from the Arctic icecap since 1962 and amounts to a quarter of the Petermann 70-kilometer floating ice shelf, according to research leader Andreas Muenchow.

"The freshwater stored in this ice island could keep the Delaware or Hudson rivers flowing for more than two years. It could also keep all U.S. public tap water flowing for 120 days," Muenchow said.

Muenchow's team is studying ice in the Nares Strait separating Greenland from Canada, about 1,000 kilometers south of the North Pole.

Satellite data from NASA's MODIS-Aqua satellite revealed the initial rupture which was confirmed within hours by Trudy Wohlleben of the Canadian Ice Service, according to the University of Delaware website.

Muenchow said the island could block the Nares Strait as it drifts south, or break into smaller islands and continue towards the open waters of the Atlantic.

"In Nares Strait, the ice island will encounter real islands that are all much smaller in size," he said.

"The newly born ice island may become land-fast, block the channel, or it may break into smaller pieces as it is propelled south by the prevailing ocean currents. From there, it will likely follow along the coasts of Baffin Island and Labrador, to reach the Atlantic within the next two years."

Environmentalists say ice melt is being caused by global warming with Arctic temperatures in the 1990s reaching their warmest level of any decade in at least 2,000 years, according to a study published in 2009.

Current trends could see the Arctic Ocean become ice free in summer months within decades, researchers predict.

Chilean rig at east access of Magellan Strait catches fire: all crew saved, no spill
A Chilean-operated oil rig off Argentine Patagonia in the South Atlantic caught fire early on Wednesday, forcing all its eight workers to evacuate by rafts and oil production to shut down, reported the Argentine navy.

    http://en.mercopress.com/2010/09/08/chilean-rig-at-east-access-of-magellan-strait-catches-fire-all-crew-saved-no-spill

The rig was operating at Sipetrol's AM-2 well, 14.9 kilometers southeast of Cape Virgenes, off Santa Cruz province

The workers were later picked up by the Golondrina del Mar (Sea Swallow), an Argentine tugboat that was in the vicinity, the navy added.
The predawn fire broke out inside the living quarters of the oil rig operated by Enap Sipetrol Argentina and located at the eastern access to the Magellan Strait.
”It was put out initially, but reignited later.... The (rig) safety chief said the oil wells are shut off,” the navy said in a statement. There were no reports of an oil spill in the Atlantic, 2800 kilometers south of Buenos Aires.

The exploration and drilling rig was identified as Sipetrol's AM-2, operating 14.9 kilometers southeast of Cape Virgenes, off Santa Cruz province.
Sipetrol Argentina is a subsidiary of Chile's ENAP (Empresa Nacional de Petroleo de Chile), which runs oil production facilities around the world, including Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Egypt, Iran and Yemen

Chile’s ENAP said the situation was quite exceptional since it’s the first time this kind of incident occurs, which fortunately had no major consequences. ENAP crews regularly stay for five days in the rigs until another shift moves in.
“The fire was under control and off by 08:30 in the morning and the rest of the platform was frozen to prevent any further advances. There’s an investigation to determine the origin of the fire”, said ENAP.
The company said there was no crude leaking into the Atlantic Ocean from the platform which produces around 408 barrels of oil per day and 290,000 cubic meters of natural gas. There’s no date yet to restart pumping operations.

Enap is a marginal producer of gas and oil with most activities focused on the refining of oil for the local market. The company is the main provider of fuel products in Chile.
The fire comes after two oil workers were missing but more than 30 others were rescued from a listing Sinopec rig off China’s northeast coast. Rescue teams saved 34 people who were working on the platform in the Shengli oil field off Dongying in Shandong province when the incident took place late Tuesday, the Chinese Transport ministry reported.
Helicopters and rescue boats were searching for the two people who slipped from the platform, now leaning at a 45-degree angle in shallow waters, the Xinhua news agency said.
The Shengli oil field, the second-largest in China, is operated by Sinopec, the biggest oil refiner in Asia.

“No oil was spilled,” a Sinopec spokesman said, confirming the rig’s valve had been immediately shut off and the 34 workers had been rescued.
“The cause of the accident is still under investigation” the spokesman said, adding it was probably due to powerful waves generated by Typhoon Malou, which made landfall in central Japan yesterday.

The platform accident comes less than two months after a July 16 oil spill sparked by the explosion of two pipelines operated by the country’s largest oil company, China National Petroleum Corp, in the north-eastern port of Dalian.
Official estimates said that 1,500 tons of crude poured into the Yellow Sea, but environmental watchdog Greenpeace said that the figure could be 60 times higher, making the spill one of the 30 worst in history.
