November 27, 2012 – NEW YORK – Superstorm Sandy ran up a super bill of $42 billion across New York, causing more damage than the infamous Hurricane Katrina, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Monday, appealing for federal emergency funds. Cuomo told a news conference that Sandy’s impact had by some measures been worse than Katrina, which caused devastation along the US Gulf Coast in 2005. Although Katrina’s death toll at 1,833 was far higher than the approximately 110 killed during last month’s hurricane-strength Sandy, the damage to property and businesses was worse this time round, he said. The total bill in New York and neighboring New Jersey was “62, 61 billion dollars,” Cuomo estimated, although that number seemed sure to rise when including extra funds needed for protection against future storms. In New York state alone, Cuomo said the total cost of recovery work came to $32.8 billion, with another $9.1 billion in prevention expenses. Footing that bill would “incapacitate” New York’s budget, Cuomo said, urging Washington to come to the rescue with federal aid. Earlier, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said America’s biggest city had suffered $19 billion in Sandy-related costs. The Big Apple “will struggle to recover in the long term unless expedited federal funding is supplied,” Bloomberg said. The October 29 hurricane flooded the subway train system, damaged tens of thousands of houses in the New York area, knocked out electricity in swaths of the city for days, and prompted severe fuel shortages. Among the storm’s prominent victims was the Statue of Liberty, which had only just reopened after a year’s refurbishments and is now to be closed again for at least the remainder of 2012. The National Park Service said on its website that “a projected reopening date has not yet been established.” According to the mayor, the net repair bill from the storm falls to $9.8 billion once private insurance and already pledged Federal Emergency Management Agency aid are factored in. But “federal legislative action will be required to address the budget gap that will result once available FEMA funds and insurance proceeds are drawn down,” he said.

Sandy victims receive power bills despite weeks of blackouts
Victims of Superstorm Sandy have received another shock during the Thanksgiving holiday when electrical bills were sent to them with regular usage rates despite the long-running blackouts. On Thursday, Sandy victims on Long Island, New York were hit with another misery by being charged their usual full estimated rates from Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) even though they did not have any electricity for weeks after the fatal storm. Still today, thousands of New Yorkers are without power even though Sandy devastated the area almost one month ago on October 29. The storm claimed 103 lives and plunged more than 8.2 million people into darkness, more than three million of them in New York and New Jersey.

Or is the precursor storm that leaves parts of DC underwater that time traveler Andrew Bassiago experience in the future (2013) right after the New Year?

They wanted to just use quantum access to just gather information about the past and future and use it for defense department contingency plans. And with that I think we can include the deep underground military construction in the Southwest – for example, the construction of the Denver International Airport as a continuity of government hub for the US federal bureaucracy in the event that Washington D.C. is destroyed. http://diaconspiracyfiles.com/2009/09/13/time-travlin-lawyer-andrew-d-basiago-says-us-centralizing-government-in-base-below-dia/

    YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQUzvtHPXeA&hl=en&fs=1&

Andy relates his experiences in DARPAs Project Pegasus during the period 1969 to 1972, and describes probes to past and future events that he took via teleportation and chronovision during the early days of time-space exploration by the US government.

He confirms that the United States has been teleporting individuals to Mars for decades, and recounts the awe-inspiring and terrifying trips that he took to Mars in 1981 after he was tapped to go there because he had teleported as a child participant in Project Pegasus.

I first met Andy in July 2009 at ECETIs Science, Spirit and World Transformation Conference near Mt. Adams, Washington, where we were both featured speakers.
During his lecture, Andy shared numerous photographic images evidencing his discovery of life on Mars, including many photos of humanoid beings, different animal species, carved statues and built structures on Mars that put him at the forefront of Mars research.

Throughout the weekend, Andy lectured at his table to small groups of conference-goers, who came and sat in rapt attention as he shared stories about his experiences as a child in Project Pegasus, the secret US research program in which time travel was the focus.

I know that, like me, everybody who took part in those impromptu seminars was certain that Andy is, as Bill Ryan of Project Camelot stated recently, the real deal a truth-teller with significant new information to share about the real Philadelphia Experiment.

In this interview, Andy tells the phenomenal story of seven briefings over 40 years in which he was shown evidence of his destiny involving the discovery of life on Mars, and explains how the emergence of time travel and this epochal future event were interlinked.

According to Andy, by 1968, the CIA was already teleporting individuals to the past and future to retrieve artifacts there and bring them back while propagating holograms of past and future events with devices called chronovisors to also gather intelligence.

The chronovisor is a device that uses a screen or holographic template to locate and display scenes from the past or future in the time-space hologram. The chronovisor was originally developed by two Vatican scientists in conjunction with Enrico Fermi and later refined by DARPA scientists.

Project Pegasus chose to view the U.S. Supreme Court building in 2013 via chronovisor and Project Pegasus participant and whistleblower Andrew D. Basiago, “found that the Supreme Court building was under 100 feet of stagnant water” in a chronovisor probe.

The Farsight Institute targeted the U.S. Capitol building in 2013, and some remote viewer reports viewed the U.S. Capitol in ruins along side deep water.

    Images at: http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/esp_2012_68.htm

Mr. Basiago has stated that, “because the chronovisors did not identify absolute, deterministic futures but rather alternate futures in the “multiverse,” this catastrophic vision of Washington, DC might be from an alternative time line that does not materialize on our time line.” Other Farsight remote viewers targeting the U.S. Capitol in 2013 did not see a Washington, DC devastated by natural catastrophe.

Here, then, we have the 2012-13 catastrophic and 2012-13 non-catastrophic futures side by side. DARPA’s Project Pegasus chronovisor technology for probing future events in the time-space hologram was state of the art in the early 1970s. Thanks Tom. My friend from the east coast emailed that they were told to expect the power outages to last possibly 7-10 days. If this happens it would be impossible for elections to take place or results to come in from the affected areas. Let's just keep a prayer for the best outcome for them all.

'Superstorm' scenario virtually shuts down Northeast
State of emergency: NY, DC, MA, MD, NJ, CT
375,000 evacuated from low-lying New York
Close to 11 million commuters lose their ride
Federal offices closed on Monday in DC
Classes canceled for 2 million students

Coast Guard: 'It could be devastation'
Hurricane Sandy: 5 things to know
Mass transit grinding to a halt
    Cruise ship hammered by Sandy
Stock markets to be closed Monday

2012 East Coast Franken Super Storm
QUOTE: Look up the HAARP Status Map!Never seen anything like that. The magnitude is so high they can't measure that! This storm is guided to the northeast coast

The biggest threat scenario involves the hurricane colliding with a cold front from the West, creating a "superstorm" that could stall over the Eastern seaboard for days. Residents have been asked to prepare for the possibility of a week or more without power. CNN Weather estimates that damage from Sandy could reach $3.2 billion. This estimate is based only on wind damage and does not include flooding. The District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia New Jersey, North Carolina and New York have declared states of emergency, while Maine's governor signed a limited emergency declaration. Delaware's governor has said the state will issue a mandatory evacuation of its coastline, if the storm stays on path. http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/27/us/tropical-weather-sandy/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Personal note: This storm reminds me of Katrina. I think we all remember what happened back then. Power grid down. Roads blocked where both food, water and supplies could not get in. Flooding. Miles and miles of damaged homes and properties. Sudden relocation of thousands of people. Then there is the timing of this strom - prior to elections as well as the location (Federal Reserve and Wall Stree are located in New York). Could this be the precursor to a Bank Holiday - even possibly a global financial reset? Who knows? For the most part, we are the witnesses - the observors. All we can really do is pray for those caught up in this situation and for it to resolve itself with the least amount of destruction as possible. Enlightened

Hurricane Sandy: Raging winds and high water to leave mark on Mid-Atlantic
    By Jason Samenow

Extent of tropical storm and hurricane force winds at 11 p.m. Saturday night. (National Hurricane Center) Sandy’s approach to the Mid-Atlantic region this evening is palpable. Its sprawling cloud shield has overspread the region and winds are already gusting over 30 mph at the Maryland and Delaware beaches.

At 11 p.m., Sandy was 360 miles east southeast of Charleston, South Carolina with sustained winds of 75 mph according to the National Hurricane Center. The central pressure was down to 960 mb. Tropical storm force winds extend up to an unreal 520 miles from the center.

Reading through blogs and recent statements from the National Weather Service, I’m presently most impressed by two things:

    1) Sandy’s incredible size and its associated wind field

    2) The amount of water it’s going to push ashore at the beaches

    Sandy’s size and associated wind

Meteorologist Angela Fritz of wunderground notes Sandy is now tied for the second largest tropical cyclone since 1988.

“Sandy’s tropical storm-force winds now extend 450 nautical miles [520 miles] from the center on the northeast side of the hurricane,” Fritz writes. “This is a very, very large storm, and I suspect the #1 spot (Olga of 2001) is in jeopardy, as well.”

Evidence of the storm’s unusual size? It’s more than 300 miles east of South Carolina, and in eastern North Carolina, the National Weather Service has logged its first reports of downed trees.

...CANNOT RECALL EVER SEEING MODEL FORECASTS OF SUCH AN EXPANSIVE AREAL WIND FIELD WITH VALUES SO HIGH FOR SO LONG A TIME. WE ARE BREAKING NEW GROUND HERE.

Reminder: a high wind watch covers the region Sunday night through Tuesday, for sustained winds of 35-45 mph and gusts to 60 mph.

SEVERE FLOODING IS EXPECTED WITHIN A FEW HOURS EITHER SIDE OF HIGH TIDE MONDAY MORNING. . . . WATER LEVELS FROM CHINCOTEAGUE TO OCEAN CITY COULD RIVAL THOSE REACHED IN GLORIA IN 1985

Massive evacuations underway ahead of East Coast 'Frankenstorm'
    http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/19933928/threat-of-frankenstorm
By ALLEN G. BREED and WAYNE PARRY
    Associated Press
SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. (AP) - Forget distinctions like tropical storm or hurricane. Don't get fixated on a particular track. Wherever it hits, the rare behemoth storm inexorably gathering in the eastern U.S. will afflict a third of the country with sheets of rain, high winds and heavy snow, say officials who warned millions in coastal areas to get out of the way.

"We're looking at impact of greater than 50 to 60 million people," said Louis Uccellini, head of environmental prediction for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

As Hurricane Sandy barreled north from the Caribbean - where it left nearly five dozen dead - to meet two other powerful winter storms, experts said it didn't matter how strong the storm was when it hit land: The rare hybrid storm that follows will cause havoc over 800 miles from the East Coast to the Great Lakes.

"This is not a coastal threat alone," said Craig Fugate, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. "This is a very large area."

New Jersey was set to close its casinos this weekend, New York's governor was considering shutting down the subways to avoid flooding and half a dozen states warned residents to prepare for several days of lost power.

Sandy weakened briefly to a tropical storm early Saturday but was soon back up to Category 1 strength, packing 75 mph winds about 355 miles southeast of Charleston, S.C., as of 8 p.m. Experts said the storm was most likely to hit the southern New Jersey coastline by late Monday or early Tuesday.

Hurricane Sandy: Storm threat to key US election week
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20113620
Hurricane Sandy is swirling towards the US, forcing presidential candidates to adjust schedules and cancel events. President Barack Obama has held a conference call with emergency chiefs to discuss preparations for the storm, which could hit as early as Monday.

Its sustained winds of 75mph (120km/h) are set to intensify as it merges with a wintry storm from the western US. A number of states key to the election could be hit by a storm that may affect up to 60 million Americans.

At 20:00 EDT (00:00 GMT on Sunday), the eye of the storm was about 330 miles south of Cape Hatteras in North Carolina, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Craig Fugate, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, said: "This is not a coastal threat alone. This is a very large area."

Sandy has already killed 60 people in the Caribbean during the past week.

    Political storm
Republican candidate Mitt Romney cancelled an event scheduled for Sunday in Virginia, a key election state, because of the weather, and was instead heading to Ohio. This might turn out to be nothing. But it could be a defining moment” President Obama will head to Florida on Sunday rather than Monday, and has cancelled a campaign stop with former President Bill Clinton in Virginia on Monday and a rally in Colorado on Tuesday to monitor the storm from the White House, said White House spokesman Jay Carney.

Vice-President Joe Biden also cancelled a rally in coastal Virginia to allow for disaster preparations.

Early balloting in Maryland saw lines of voters stretching for a number of blocks at some polling stations on Saturday. Nine states are thought to be too close to call.

    'Prepare for the worst'
While the East Coast is used to extreme weather, Sandy is concerning meteorologists who fear it could mutate into a "Frankenstorm" as it merges with a winter storm in the run-up to Halloween. It is only moving north-east at 13mph, meaning it could hover for 36 hours over as many as 12 states, bringing up to 10in (25cm) of rain, 2ft of snow, extreme storm surges and power cuts.

States of emergency have been declared in Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC and a coastal county in North Carolina.

Tropical storm warnings are in effect in both South and North Carolina, as well as Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds.

The NHC said further strengthening was possible on Sunday, before Sandy touched down anywhere between Virginia and southern New England late on Monday. Delaware has ordered a mandatory evacuation of 50,000 people from coastal areas.

IS THIS THE OCTOBER SURPRISE? 2012 East Coast Franken Super Storm Sandy AFTERMATH Latestfull-sandy
U.S. East coast prepares for ‘super storm’ as hurricane Sandy intensifies
October 27, 2012 – CLIMATE – Tropical cyclone Sandy revved back up to hurricane strength on Saturday as it churned toward the U.S. northeast coast where it threatens to become one of the worst storms in decades. The late-season storm has been dubbed “Frankenstorm” by some weather watchers because it will combine elements of a tropical cyclone and a winter storm and is forecast to reach the U.S. coast close to Halloween. Forecast models show it will have all the ingredients to morph into a so-called “super storm.” Governors in states along the U.S. East Coast declared emergencies on Friday, with officials urging residents to stock up on food, water and batteries. The U.S. Navy ordered all ships in the Norfolk, Virginia, area, including a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, out to sea to ride out the approaching storm. “We’re expecting a large, large storm,” said Louis Uccellini, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Center for Environmental Prediction. “The circulation of this storm as it approaches the coast could cover about the eastern third of the United States.” Sandy battered the Bahamas southeast of Florida on Friday after causing widespread destruction in eastern Cuba a day earlier. The storm was expected to crawl northward on Saturday and Sunday and then turn toward the U.S. coast. Sandy’s powerful winds and rains were blamed for 41 deaths in several Caribbean countries, including 11 in Cuba. Most were killed by falling trees and building collapses. On its current projected track, Sandy could make U.S. landfall on Monday night or Tuesday somewhere between North Carolina and southern New England, forecasters said. The storm has the potential to cause widespread power outages and to unleash flooding and even dump snow as far inland as Ohio. It also threatens to disrupt air travel along the U.S. East Coast. At 8 a.m. EDT (1200 GMT), Sandy was about 335 miles southeast of Charleston, South Carolina, and packing top sustained winds of 75 miles per hour, the U.S. National Hurricane Center. It had earlier dropped just below hurricane strength but little overall change on strength was expected ahead of its anticipated U.S. landfall early next week, the Miami-based Hurricane Center said. The storm picked up a little forward speed overnight but was still moving slowly over the Atlantic at 10 mph. The massive storm has continued to grow in size with tropical force winds extending 450 miles from its center, government forecasters said. In New York City, officials were considering shutting down the country’s largest mass transit system because they were worried the storm’s impact could cause flooding or high winds that might endanger subways and buses. Much of Florida’s northeast coast was under a tropical storm warning and storm warnings and watches extended up the coast through most of South Carolina and North Carolina. Along North Carolina’s Outer Banks, which jut out into the Atlantic, vacationers in large camper trailers and motor homes streamed off the barrier islands. Many forecasters are warning that Sandy could be more destructive than last year’s Hurricane Irene, which caused billions of dollars in damage across the U.S. Northeast. –Reuters

Hurricane Sandy pounds Jamaica, then aims at Cuba – could morph into winter storm for U.S. Northeast IS THIS THE OCTOBER SURPRISE? 2012 East Coast Franken Super Storm Sandy AFTERMATH Sandy
October 25, 2012 – KINGSTON, Jamaica — Hurricane Sandy lashed precarious shantytowns, stranded travelers and downed power lines with heavy wind and rain Wednesday as it roared across Jamaica and then headed for an overnight landfall in eastern Cuba and go on to threaten the Bahamas and possibly Florida. Sandy’s death toll was at least two. An elderly man was killed in Jamaica when he was crushed by a boulder that rolled onto his clapboard house, police reported. Earlier Wednesday, a woman in Haiti was swept away by a rushing river she was trying to cross. The storm hit Jamaica as a category 1 hurricane then strengthened as it spun over open sea toward Cuba. U.S. forecasters said it had maximum sustained winds of 90 mph (150 kph) late Wednesday and might grow into a category 2 storm before going ashore. It was moving north at about 13 mph (20 kph) and hurricane-force winds extended outward up to 30 miles (45 kilometers) from the center. In some southern towns on Jamaica, a few crocodiles were caught in rushing floodwaters that carried them out of their homes in mangrove thickets, showing up in districts where electricity was knocked out, local residents reported. One big croc took up temporary residence in a family’s front yard in the city of Portmore. The hurricane’s eye crossed over Jamaica by Wednesday evening and emerged from its northern coast near the town of Port Antonio, meteorologists said, but rain and winds continued to pound the Caribbean island into the night. It was the first direct hit by the eye of a hurricane on Jamaica since Hurricane Gilbert 24 years ago, and fearful authorities closed the island’s international airports and police ordered 48-hour curfews in major towns to keep people off the streets and deter looting. Cruise ships changed their itineraries to avoid the storm, which made landfall five miles (8 kilometers) east of the capital, Kingston. Flash floods and mudslides were a threat for this debt-shackled tropical island of roughly 2.7 million inhabitants, which has a crumbling infrastructure and a number of sprawling shantytowns built on steep embankments and along gullies that sluice runoff water to the sea. In the hilly community of Kintyre, on the outskirts of Kingston, Sharon Gayle and a few of her neighbors expected to completely lose the town’s bridge over the Hope River, which washed away a section of the span just three weeks ago during a heavy downpour. The shell of a concrete home that collapsed into the river and killed two people several years ago still lies toppled on the sandy banks. “I’m really nervous. We’re trying not to show it in front of the children though,” the mother of three said, huddling under a sopping white towel as she stared at the rising river. –Chron

One death in Jamaica: A man has been crushed to death by boulders as Hurricane Sandy sweeps across Jamaica, moving north to Cuba. The category one hurricane struck the island on Wednesday, unleashing heavy rains and winds of 125km/h (80mph). Schools and airports are closed, and a curfew has been imposed in major towns. A police officer was shot and injured by looters in the capital, Kingston. A hurricane warning has also been issued in Cuba, where Sandy is expected to make its next landfall. Moving at 22km/h, the hurricane struck Kingston on Wednesday evening and headed north, emerging off the island’s northern coast near the town of Port Antonio. Sandy has prompted a hurricane watch in the Bahamas, while Florida has been placed on tropical storm watch. “It’s a big storm and it’s going to grow in size after it leaves Cuba,” said forecaster Michael Brennan from the Miami-based National Hurricane Center (NHC). –BBC

Officials urge people to be prepared for several days without electricity
DUCK, N.C. (AP) - A year after being walloped by Hurricane Irene, residents rushed to put away boats, harvest crops and sandbag boardwalks Friday as the Eastern Seaboard braced for a rare megastorm that experts said would cause much greater havoc. Hurricane Sandy, moving north from the Caribbean, was expected to make landfall Monday night near the Delaware coast, then hit two winter weather systems as it moves inland, creating a hybrid monster storm that could bring nearly a foot of rain, high winds and up to 2 feet of snow. Experts said the storm would be wider and stronger than last year's Irene, which caused more than $15 billion in damage, and could rival the worst East Coast storm on record. Officials did not mince words, telling people to be prepared for several days without electricity. Jersey Shore beach towns began issuing voluntary evacuations and protecting boardwalks. Atlantic Beach casinos made contingency plans to close, and officials advised residents of flood-prone areas to stay with family or be ready to leave. Airlines said to expect cancellations and waived change fees for passengers who want to reschedule. "Be forewarned," said Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy. "Assume that you will be in the midst of flooding conditions, the likes of which you may not have seen at any of the major storms that have occurred over the last 30 years."

Hurricane safety: When the lights go out
A hurricane watch means hurricane conditions are possible in the watch area, and are issued 48 hours before the anticipated onset of tropical-storm-force winds. A tropical storm warning means tropical-storm-force winds are expected somewhere in the designated area within 36 hours. A tropical storm watch means such conditions are possible within 48 hours.

Here are recommendations on what to do before a storm approaches:
-- Download an application to your smartphone that can notify people where you are, and if you need help or are safe. The Red Cross has a Hurricane App available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. A First Aid app is also available.
-- Use hurricane shutters or board up windows and doors with 5/8 inch plywood.
-- Bring outside items in if they could be picked up by the wind.
    -- Clear gutters of debris.
    -- Reinforce the garage door.
-- Turn the refrigerator to its coldest setting in case power goes off. Use a cooler to keep from opening the doors on the freezer or refrigerator.
-- Fill a bathtub with water.
-- Get full tank of gas in one car.
-- Go over the evacuation plan with the family, and learn alternate routes to safety.
-- Learn the location of the nearest shelter or nearest pet-friendly shelter.
-- Put an ax in your attic in case of severe flooding.
-- Evacuate if ordered and stick to marked evacuation routes, if possible.
-- Store important documents -- passports, Social Security cards, birth certificates, deeds -- in a watertight container.
-- Have a current inventory of household property.
-- Leave a note to say where you are going.
-- Unplug small appliances and electronics before you leave.
-- If possible, turn off the electricity, gas and water for residence.

Here is a list of supplies:
-- A three-day supply of water, one gallon per person per day.
-- Three days of food, with suggested items including: canned meats, canned or dried fruits, canned vegetables, canned juice, peanut butter, jelly, salt-free crackers, energy/protein bars, trail mix/nuts, dry cereal, cookies or other comfort food.
    -- A can opener.
    -- Flashlight(s).
    -- A battery-powered radio, preferably a weather radio.
    -- Extra batteries.
-- A first aid kit, including latex gloves; sterile dressings; soap/cleaning agent; antibiotic ointment; burn ointment; adhesive bandages in small, medium and large sizes; eye wash; a thermometer; aspirin/pain reliever; anti-diarrhea tablets; antacids; laxatives; small scissors; tweezers; petroleum jelly.
    -- A small fire extinguisher.
    -- Whistles for each person.
    -- A seven-day supply of medications.
    -- Vitamins.
-- A multipurpose tool, with pliers and a screwdriver.
    -- Cell phones and chargers.
-- Contact information for the family.
-- A sleeping bag for each person.
    -- Extra cash.
-- A silver foil emergency blanket.
-- A map of the area.
    -- Baby supplies.
    -- Pet supplies.
    -- Wet wipes.
-- A camera (to document storm damage).
    -- Insect repellent.
    -- Rain gear.
-- Tools and supplies for securing your home.
    -- Plastic sheeting.
    -- Duct tape.
    -- Dust masks.
-- An extra set of house keys.
-- An extra set of car keys.
-- An emergency ladder to evacuate the second floor.
    -- Household bleach.
-- Paper cups, plates and paper towels.
    -- Activities for children.
-- Charcoal and matches, if you have a portable grill. But only use it outside.

American Red Cross tips on what to do after the storm arrives:
-- Continue listening to a NOAA Weather Radio or the local news for the latest updates.
-- Stay alert for extended rainfall and subsequent flooding even after the hurricane or tropical storm has ended.
-- If you evacuated, return home only when officials say it is safe.
-- Drive only if necessary and avoid flooded roads and washed out bridges.
-- Keep away from loose or dangling power lines and report them immediately to the power company.
-- Stay out of any building that has water around it.
-- Inspect your home for damage. Take pictures of damage, both of the building and its contents, for insurance purposes.
-- Use flashlights in the dark. Do NOT use candles.
-- Avoid drinking or preparing food with tap water until you are sure it's not contaminated.
-- Check refrigerated food for spoilage. If in doubt, throw it out.
-- Wear protective clothing and be cautious when cleaning up to avoid injury.
-- Watch animals closely and keep them under your direct control.
-- Use the telephone only for emergency calls.

As Sandy gets closer to making landfall the engineering of the near storm environments continues at a frantic pace.

I photograph just some of the many, many trails across Southern Colorado today, that is seems were to assist in deepening the developing trough of low pressure allowing for the storm known as Sandy to come ashore and linger longer over the Washington DC area and not as much NYC.

Update: The guidance tonight has this as a Washington DC storm.

    Carol,

Because I have kids I am in the process of a gastro, so I haven't been really on line. and I haven't read any posts here or anything on Sandy. It is a way of testing a video that I did earlier to day on the Chemtrails.

So posting here and then will read the posts.

Post  Carol Sun Oct 28, 2012 2:01 pm

Thanks Tom. It's the combination of a nor easter (cold air flowing down from Canada) and the tropical air moving up from the Florida region that creates something that is quite rare. Usually the tropical storms are during the summer time - not late fall. The cold air brings snow. The combination of cold and hot is wind and rain. Then on Monday is a full moon along with expected high tides that would happen irrespective of any storm. Add the wind and more rain it's easy to see where flooding would occur in the low lying areas. Then drop the projected 2 feet of wet snow on trees that still have there leaves on them - add a bit more wind and then there is broken branches falling down on power lines. Should there be a cold snap - all those branches could easily be covered in ice - more weight and more limbs cracking and falling down. Add to this the aftermath of all that water and the damage it created along with the damage from the high winds. Currently 50,000 people have been ordered to evacuate and are on the roads leaving the area. Can you imagine what that looks like and what this means for folks who can't even afford to buy a tank of gas? Where are they all going to go? If there is major damage where these folks have no place to return to - perhaps this type of emergency is what those FEMA camps were built for.

Personally, it would be great if nature called the whole thing off. However, those who prepare are in the best position to be safe.

Ironically, this type of weather scenario reminds me a bit of the movie

So if there is cold front coming down from Can. then the chemtrails would be hard on California. Do we know anyone there to check out side and get back to us. That would mean that if the storm is being driven then we would see marks 300 miles either side depending on where they are pushing. Might be a question for Dutchsinse.

I am suprised Floyd has been in for the fear mongering side. Beer After chelseas performance it gives me hope in the future.

Lee Ellis mentioned this was going on in Colorado and that was what the video he posted covered. He personally knows the person who made this which lends a lot more credibility to the report.

Strong damaging winds (80-100mph) are forecast -- also flooding rains, and heavy snow, and with high surf along the coast.

Sandy set to be the biggest storm EVER to hit the U.S: New York announces subway will shut as 66m people on East Coast prepare

New York City Mayor Bloomberg orders mandatory evacuation of 375,000 people from low-lying areas in Red Zone A

Expecting storm surges along coastal areas in New York City to be anywhere from six to eleven-feet

New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority announces it will close for at least 24 hours due to the approaching storm - the second time in history

While still at sea, Hurricane Sandy already is causing widespread problems for travelers, with over 3,200 flight cancellations so far

Sandy could be the largest storm to ever hit the United States

Could cause over $1billion worth of damage

As many as 60 people reported dead across Caribbean as super storm barrels north

Weather forecasters warned on Sunday that the approaching megastorm which could wreak life-threatening havoc to tens of millions of peoples lives across 800 miles of the East Coast has the potential be the largest storm ever to hit the United States.

And with several state of emergencies already in existence across the country, New York's MTA announced that the city's subway and bus operations would begin to close down at 7 p.m. on Sunday as the city's Mayor Bloomberg ordered the mandatory evacuations of 375,000 people from low-lying coastal areas.

The closure of New York City's mass transport network for the second time in two years and only the second time in history will mean that almost 12 million people in the wealthiest city in the U.S. will be prevented from taking their usual route to work by the oncoming storm system.

High winds blow sea foam onto Jeanette's Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina today as wind and rain from Hurricane Sandy move into the area

The City that Never Sleeps will suspend its train, subway and bus service Sunday night ahead of Hurricane Sandy, which is expected to bring strong winds and dangerous flooding to the East Coast, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said at a news conference.

'If it turns and moves off, great. Really great. But if not then we will be prepared for it,' said a cautious Cuomo.

    Travel Chaos in New York

New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced service on subways will be curtailed beginning at 7 p.m. EDT.

The bus network will cease to operate after 9 p.m.

Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad will start their finals trains by 7 p.m. from terminal locations. Stations will close once the last trains pass through.

New Jersey is taking steps to shut down NJ Transit bus, rail and Access Link service on Monday -- much as it did last year for 36 hours due to Hurricane Irene - but no official announcements have been made just yet.

'The transportation system is the lifeblood of the New York City region, and suspending all service is not a step I take lightly.

'But keeping New Yorkers safe is the first priority, and the best way to do that is to make sure they are out of harm's way before gale-force winds can start wreaking havoc on trains and buses.'

The service is expected to resume operations about 12 hours after the storm ends, officials said at the news conference - which would put services on track to resume for Tuesday afternoon.

Post  Carol Sun Oct 28, 2012 2:55 pm

More than a Dozen Nuclear Plants Near Hurricane Sandy’s Path Brace for Impact
Bloomberg reports: “Because of the size of [Hurricane Sandy], we could see an impact to coastal and inland plants,” Neil Sheehan, a spokesman based in Philadelphia for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, said by phone today. “We will station inspectors at the sites if we know they could be directly impacted.”

The NRC met earlier today to discuss the necessary precautions to take for the storm, Sheehan said. Plants must begin to shut if wind speeds exceed certain limits, he said. As of 2 p.m. New York time, Sandy had winds of 75 miles (121 kilometers) per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. It was about 430 miles south-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina, moving north at 7 mph.

The current Hurricane Center track calls for the system to come ashore just south of Delaware Bay on Oct. 30.

    Reuters provides a list:

The following lists the nuclear reactors and utilities in Sandy’s potential path.

IS THIS THE OCTOBER SURPRISE? 2012 East Coast Franken Super Storm Sandy AFTERMATH Plant
While we don’t foresee any problems, the risk of nuclear accident in the U.S. is actually much greater than it was in Japan before Fukushima.

For example, fuel pools in the United States store an average of ten times more radioactive fuel than stored at Fukushima, and have virtually no safety features.

Let’s review the list and look at examples of problems experienced by the nuclear plants in Hurricane Sandy’s path:

Brunswick experienced a reactor coolant system leak last year
Surry has recently been plagued by problems with the coolant system, valves and damage from a tornado
North Anna leaked tritium last year after an earthquake shook the plant and shifted around a gigantic radioactive storage cask
Calvert Cliffs was knocked offline by the last hurricane
Salem has been riddled with problems with security, turbines problems and other issues.
Hope Creek has suffered security problems, has the same design as the Fukushima Daiichi Unit 1, has “some of the same issues with above-ground storage of spent fuel rods as Fukushima” and “was designed to withstand certain major weather events but we need to look at the potential impacts of more extreme events, especially … sea level rise and flooding”
Peach Bottom purportedly has a defective design and has been plagued by various problems
Limerick has suffered electrical and other issues
Three Mile Island suffered another leak in the cooling system last month
Susquehanna has been hit with one problem after another
Oyster Creek has been plagued with electrical and other problems
Indian Point is widely recognized as one of the nation’s worst nuclear plants. If Indian Point melted down, it could close New York City for years, and cost half a trillion dollars or more
Millstone’s vulnerability is shown by the fact that it was shut down due to warm seawater
Pilgrim has numerous structural problems. And see this. Pilgrim’s spent fuel pools contain more radioactive cesium than released by Fukushima, Chernobyl and all nuclear bomb tests combined
Seabrook has had problems with corrosion, computers and a host of other issues
Vermont Yankee – which has around 10 times more spent fuel rods than any of the individual Fukushima reactors – leaked tritium
It’s not surprising that there have been problems at all of these nuclear plants. After all, the U.S. has 23 reactors which are virtually identical to Fukushima. The archaic uranium reactor designs developedmore than 40 years ago are only good for making bombs.

Most American nuclear reactors are old. They are aging poorly, and are in very real danger of melting down. And yet the NRC is relaxing safety standards at the old plants. And see this.

Indeed, while many of the plants are already past the service life that the engineers built them for, the NRC is considering extending licenses another 80 years, which former chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority and now senior adviser with Friends of the Earth’s nuclear campaign David Freeman calls “committing suicide”.

That would mean that if the storm is being driven then we would see marks 300 miles either side depending on where they are pushing. Might be a question for Dutchsinse.

I am suprised Floyd has been in for the fear mongering side. Beer After chelseas performance it gives me hope in the future.

I feel the crap off the eastern seaboard has been engineered...from Wednesday to yesterday Saturday we had heavy duty rainstorms for 3/4 days continuously and it was unexpectedly cold...just cleared up today. I noticed the iron dark grey smudges in the sky that today are called clouds so that possibly means chemtrails. Then last night after the earthquake struck Haida Gwai we had a power outage all night which is strange since the wind and rain had stopped. Didn't know until a.m. that British Columbia had an earthquake.

Thanks for all your survival info Carol.

My friend living in New Jersey called asking me to remind her why they moved back there from Hawaii. She said that she feels like New Jersey is the center of the bulls eye for Sandy. However, given that she went through the Tom Brown Survivalist training she's well prepared then most. I asked where did the thousands of evacuees go to. She said further inland to schools. She's worried about the power going out and the cold setting in - how that will affect her elderly parents. She also spoke about the neighbor's basements flooding during the last storm. Their house is only 9 feet above sea level while the neighbors they're 9 feet below. When it floods there house is like a little island where they can't get out. Even though they're prepared this storm is scary for them because of how long it can last and the aftermath. One of her friends is already stranded in New York. In the news there were reports of numerous flights being canceled. We who read about these unfolding events so far away can only hold our friends in our hearts and in the light. Pray they stay safe while this storm blows itself out to sea and stays there.

Yes its the aftermath that people have to worry about if the power grid is down for quite awhile with freezing temperatures...the article below has an interesting perspective at the end of it from a gal in New York.

Intricate understanding of why this mega superstorm is different from any other...weather models easy to understand.

Yes Jenetta. That along with it being a full moon and high tides. It's everything combined that makes this scary.
