Galen Winsor, involved with the nuclear industry most of his adult life spills the beans on industiral and governmenal interest, lies and control regarding nuclear waste products and the nuclear fear mongering agenda.

    Could this be true?

I strongly suggest that if you have had the begebers scared out of you regarding Fukashima, that you watch this film and listen carefully... This is the man who drank plutonium and swam in nuclear cooling vats.

This is a really tough one for me to think about. You think you have good information, you have the information common to all people. You act based on instinct and the info you think is right and good and protective for yourself and humanity at large.

When I was a kid my dad built a fallout shelter in our back yard. It was a huge project when I was about 8 years old. I had to deal with thoughts like what if .... what if it really happened? what if my neighbors tried to get in? What to do when grandma refuses to come in it?

This is a VERY controversial film and I am trying to deal with the information. Above and beyond all else we must deal with why anyone would want to lie to us? What are the environmentalists trying to do? Are they brainwashed too? are they covert for the nuclear industry who wants to control the money?

Slowly, as internet searchers explore the topic supporting evidence is being found. Could this be the biggest lie we have yet had to contend with with the US government?

Always, follow the money and corporate interests.

PLease watch this film. I think it may be important.

then following it is a radio interview with someone who interviewed Galen Winsor, the whistle blower on this topic.

For some reason I cant get the video to post so here is the link:

here is an old show 14days after the russion meltdown, with all the Ur2o data - as well i now myself, that there where patents for quadrupple fuelrecicling reactors in the mid of the 70th. Than we whould have no left overs and a 2cent megawatt. Nearly as neat as Thesla athmos chargers...

I saw that video last night and had just posted it on the Nuclear thread and then chose to delete it .
I noticed that within a few days it went viral through all conspiracy sites with some kind of unanimous agreement with it .
    This makes me suspicious.
Not that what this guy has to say is'nt interesting but I would say this needs much more investigation and validation
from other sources before I would take it for granted.

So your answer is to delete posts you made and eliminate a different opinion from view to others? just because you think it needs verification and investigation?
So you think censorship is good?
Are you thinking that others cant think for themselves or go about a verification process? Are you desturbed that this could possibly be true?
Are you bothered that someone might verify it?
Do you think it is valuable to obstruct opinions from leading scientists even if controversial?

Covering it up will not lead to verification and investigation.

How about allowing others to determine for themselves on controversial opinions?
and this one certainly is controversial and flys in the face of conventional thinking.

Arrowind my point was that the subject needs further verification
and back up to make it valid.
I personnally haven't found such material yet.
If I was going to post it I felt I needed to do that research first.
My own gut feeling after reflection upon it.
A matter which I think is worth investigating further though.
I would welcome anyone coming with additionnal data and if I find some
myself I will definitely post it .

    Crazy Happy

Oh geez, give me a break.

There was a campaign recently to say that Mercury is good for you (In vaccines etc)

Sorry, I know the physiological efects of radiation.. No Vaccine can stop it, only perhaps mitigate the effects.
(non physicist description) during decay, the particles that are given off when the atom decays tear apart the strands of DNA/RNA causing possible mutations or irreperable damage. How can this be good for you?

Sorry, I am not a brain surgeon, or rocket scientist (well I may be secretly - hehe) , but I cannot approve this information.

The build-up radiation is also a cumulative effect, impairs the immune system which can lead to death from cancer and/or infections as well.

Radiation takes place when the atomic nucleus of an unstable atom decays and starts releasing ionizing particles, known as ionizing radiation. When these particles come into contact with organic material, such as human tissue, they will damage them if levels are high enough, causing burns and cancer. Ionizing radiation can be fatal for humans.

A sudden, short dose of up to 50 rem will probably cause no problems, except for some blood changes. From 50 to 200 rem there may be illness, but fatalities are highly unlikely. A dose of between 200 and 1,000 will most likely cause serious illness - the nearer the 1,000 it is, the poorer the outlook for the human will be. Any dose over 1,000 will typically cause death.

When an atomic bomb explodes, as in Hiroshima and Nagasaki during WWII, people receive two doses of radiation: one during the explosion, and another from fallout. Fallout refers to the radioactive particles that float in the air after an explosion; they rise and then gradually descend to the ground. A dose of 100 rems will have probably cause some initial signs of radiation sickness, such as loss of white blood cells, nausea, vomiting, and headache. With a 300 rem dose you may lose hair temporarily - your nerve cells and those that line the digestive tract will be damaged. As the dose rises and more white blood cells are lost, the human's immune system becomes seriously weakened - their ability to fight off infections is considerably reduced.

Exposure to radiation makes our bodies produce fewer blood clotting agents, called blood platelets, increasing our risk of internal bleeding. Any cut on the skin will take much longer to stop bleeding.

Experts say that approximately 50% of humans exposed to 450 rems will die, and 800 rems will kill virtually anyone. Death is inevitable and will occur from between two days to a couple of weeks.

Q&A: Health effects of radiation exposure
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12722435

What are the immediate health effects of exposure to radiation?

Exposure to high levels of radiation - above one gray (the standard measure of the absorbed dose of radiation) - can result in radiation sickness, which produces a range of symptoms.

Nausea and vomiting often begin within hours of exposure, followed by diarrhoea, headaches and fever.

After the first round of symptoms, there may be a brief period with no apparent illness, but this may be followed within weeks by new, more serious symptoms.

At higher levels of radiation, all of these symptoms may be immediately apparent, along with widespread - and potentially fatal - damage to internal organs.

Exposure to a radiation dose of four gray will typically kill about half of all healthy adults.

For comparison, radiation therapy for cancer typically involves several doses of between one and seven gray at a time - but these doses are highly controlled, and usually specifically targeted at small areas of the body.

A sievert is a gray weighted by the effectiveness of a particular type of radiation at causing damage to tissues, and is used to measure lower levels of radiation, and for assessing long-term risk, rather than the short-term acute impact of exposure. There are 1,000 millisieverts (mSv) in a sievert.

Galen lived to be 82 after ingesting plutonium many times and swimming in nuclear power plant cooling tanks. A few others have done the same and when I heard their story I failed to make note of where to locate the story again.

    Abstract

    BACKGROUND:

In experimental settings, uranium is toxic to kidneys, but effects on humans are unclear. Ingestion of water from drilled wells is a source of high uranium exposure in some populations.

    METHODS:

Uranium exposure was measured in 95 men and 98 women aged 18 to 81 years who had used drinking water from drilled wells for an average of 16 years. Urinary N-acetyl-gamma-d-glucosaminidase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, gamma-glutamyltransferase, and glutathione-S-transferase; serum cystatin C; and urinary and serum calcium, phosphate, glucose, and creatinine were measured to evaluate possible toxic effects of uranium on kidney cells and renal function. In addition, supine blood pressure was measured. Associations between uranium exposure and the outcome variables were modeled by using linear regression with adjustment for age, sex, body mass index, smoking, and analgesic use.

    RESULTS:

Median uranium concentration in drinking water was 25 microg/L (interquartile range, 5 to 148 microg/L; maximum, 1,500 microg/L). Indicators of cytotoxicity and kidney function did not show evidence of renal damage. No statistically significant associations with uranium in urine, water, hair, or toenails was found for 10 kidney toxicity indicators. Uranium exposure was associated with greater diastolic and systolic blood pressures, and cumulative uranium intake was associated with increased glucose excretion in urine.

    CONCLUSION:

Continuous uranium intake from drinking water, even at relatively high exposures, was not found to have cytotoxic effects on kidneys in humans.

THE MYTH OF PLUTONIUM TOXICITY - Bernard L. Cohen (1/3/1989)
By Bernard L. Cohen, Department of Physics, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

"It is often argued that there is a great deal we do not know about Pu toxicity. While this may be true, one would be hard-pressed to name another public health issue that is as well understood and controlled. Surely it would not be air pollution from burning coal, which is a million times more serious a problem. Surely it is not food additives or insecticides or such [the dangers from these have also been greatly exaggerated] that may well be doing real harm to our health. Pu hazards are far better understood than any of these, and the one fatality per 300 years they may someday cause is truly trivial by comparison.

In spite of the facts we have cited here, facts well known in the scientific community, the myth of Pu toxicity lingers on. The news media ignore us, and prefer to continue scaring the public at every opportunity. They don't recognize the difference between political issues on which everyone is equally entitled to an opinion, and scientific issues, which are susceptible to scientific investigation and proof. The myth may linger forever."
