How we've misconstrued our Mind's power Empty How we've misconstrued our Mind's power

Please watch all these videos in full and you will be amazed by what's revealed at the end. They are a fun and fascinating watch anyway but it's what this guy, Derren Brown, reveals about the mostly misunderstood powers of our minds that makes it all worthwhile. If nothing else, just watch the last two of them to understand the message I believe is important in them.

Derren Brown is a mentalist....belongs to a society of mentalists:

    Hacking the human brain.....

Styles of presentation can vary greatly. A few performers, in the mold of Uri Geller, or James Van Praagh, claim to actually possess supernatural powers such as telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, or telekinesis.
Many contemporary performers, including Richard Osterlind, Banachek, and Derren Brown, attribute their results to mundane skills, such as the ability to read body language or to manipulate the subject subliminally through psychological suggestion.

    Mentalist or magician

Mentalists generally do not mix "standard" magic tricks with their mental feats. Doing so associates mentalism too closely with the theatrical trickery employed by stage magicians. Many mentalists claim not to be magicians at all, arguing that it is a different art form altogether.
Many magicians, however, mix mentally themed performance with magic illusions. For example, a mind-reading stunt might also involve the magical transposition of two different objects. Such hybrid feats of magic are often called mental magic by performers. Magicians who routinely mix magic with mental magic include David Copperfield, David Blaine, and The Amazing Kreskin.

Thanks for adding those Brook. These mentalists are indeed brilliant at what they do in manipulating those less adept than themselves. But what fascinated me about the 'Seance' videos was what it revealed about the power of the subconscious of the students he'd gathered for this experiment.

Yes, Brown manipulated them into focusing their group mind on that particular girl and being sensitive and open to the 'unseen realms'. But from then on, Brown indicated at the end, and it appeared to me, that the students' subconscious minds provided the rest, right down to the personal information about the chosen girl, whom one of them was supposedly 'channeling'. So, telepathy?

What was fascinating to me also was how the students experienced it all at a conscious level ..... how afraid they were ..... because they didn't understand what their unconscious minds were capable of achieving when focused thus together, which Brown virtually showed them. And the 'manifestations' their own fear of what they thought they were experiencing added to the situation.

Seeing this has caused me to wonder about all sorts of info extracted from the subconscious and how we might misinterpret it consciously. Such as past life regression for instance. It certainly explains how there are so many who believe they were Cleopatra in a past life for instance haha. Wink

[Edited: A paragraph was removed here as I've since found out the info it contained was false.]

The point is that this video brings into high relief for me how we can consciously misinterpret what we are actually accessing from our unconscious minds, even adding extra elements to the experience due to being afraid of what we are doing but possibly also in order to be able to accept it within the bounds of what our expectations have been conditioned into becoming when we undergo such experiences. But more than that, it shows how we've been conditioned to see it wrongly also, as said previously.

So many fascinating correlations are becoming apparent, IF I'm seeing this correctly. cheers

Here's another example of how our conditioned minds can be overridden by being given the correct focus we need to access our own innate power, thanks to the brilliant Derren Brown.

I was most amazed to see on this that even dermatitis can be 'cured' by the power of our own mind! Shocked

This guy, Dynamo, will blow your mind! Shocked "Oh but he's a magician", you may say. I've never seen any plain, old magician do some of these tricks.........seriously. Even if it is some sort of mental manipulation, even from that perspective it proves that we are capable of far more than we currently believe. Just watch and you'll understand what I mean.
