Biggest find since the Dead Sea Scrolls? Seventy metal books found in cave in Jordan could change our view of Biblical history
    Wed Mar 30 2011

For scholars of faith and history, it is a treasure trove too precious for price.

This ancient collection of 70 tiny books, their lead pages bound with wire, could unlock some of the secrets of the earliest days of Christianity.

Academics are divided as to their authenticity but say that if verified, they could prove as pivotal as the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947.

On pages not much bigger than a credit card, are images, symbols and words that appear to refer to the Messiah and, possibly even, to the Crucifixion and Resurrection.

Adding to the intrigue, many of the books are sealed, prompting academics to speculate they are actually the lost collection of codices mentioned in the Bible’s Book Of Revelation.

The books were discovered five years ago in a cave in a remote part of Jordan to which Christian refugees are known to have fled after the fall of Jerusalem in 70AD. Important documents from the same period have previously been found there.

Initial metallurgical tests indicate that some of the books could date from the first century AD.

Revelation: Experts speculate that the tablets could be the lost collection of codices referred to in the Bible's Book Of Revelation

This estimate is based on the form of corrosion which has taken place, which experts believe would be impossible to achieve artificially.

If the dating is verified, the books would be among the earliest Christian documents, predating the writings of St Paul.

The prospect that they could contain contemporary accounts of the final years of Jesus’s life has excited scholars – although their enthusiasm is tempered by the fact that experts have previously been fooled by sophisticated fakes.

David Elkington, a British scholar of ancient religious history and archeology, and one of the few to have examined the books, says they could be ‘the major discovery of Christian history’.

‘It is a breathtaking thought that we have held these objects that might have been held by the early saints of the Church,’ he said.

But the mysteries between their ancient pages are not the books’ only riddle. Today, their whereabouts are also something of a mystery. After their discovery by a Jordanian Bedouin, the hoard was subsequently acquired by an Israeli Bedouin, who is said to have illegally smuggled them across the border into Israel, where they remain.

However, the Jordanian Government is now working at the highest levels to repatriate and safeguard the collection. Philip Davies, emeritus professor of biblical studies at Sheffield University, said there was powerful evidence that the books have a Christian origin in plates cast into a picture map of the holy city of Jerusalem.

The metal books contain pages with images, symbols and words that appear to refer to the Messiah and, possibly even, to the Crucifixion

‘As soon as I saw that, I was dumbstruck,’ he said. ‘That struck me as so obviously a Christian image. There is a cross in the foreground, and behind it is what has to be the tomb [of Jesus], a small building with an opening, and behind that the walls of the city.

‘There are walls depicted on other pages of these books too and they almost certainly refer to Jerusalem. It is a Christian crucifixion taking place outside the city walls.’

The British team leading the work on the discovery fears that the present Israeli ‘keeper’ may be looking to sell some of the books on to the black market, or worse – destroy them.

But the man who holds the books denies the charge and claims they have been in his family for 100 years.

Dr Margaret Barker, a former president of the Society for Old Testament Study, said: ‘The Book of Revelation tells of a sealed book that was opened only by the Messiah.

‘Other texts from the period tell of sealed books of wisdom and of a secret tradition passed on by Jesus to his closest disciples. That is the context for this discovery.’
Professor Davies said: ‘The possibility of a Hebrew-Christian origin is certainly suggested by the imagery and, if so, these codices are likely to bring dramatic new light to our understanding of a very significant but so far little understood period of history.’

Mr Elkington, who is leading British efforts to have the books returned to Jordan, said: ‘It is vital that the collection can be recovered intact and secured in the best possible circumstances, both for the benefit of its owners and for a potentially fascinated international audience.’

*British scientists have uncovered up to eight million mummified dogs, thought to have been sacrificed to Anubis, the god of the dead, 2500 years ago after excavating tunnels in the ancient Eygptian city of Saqqara.

Thank you Hobbit . I can relate to this.

It seems as though fear is creating a template through which undesirable outcomes come into manifestation and form a ridge.
Love on the contrary sees things as is and is constantly creating/co creating the universe anew from the Heart.

Theoretical biophysicist Fritz-Albert Popp made the following interesting experiment while researching Cancer inducing compounds that he submitted to UV light. He performed his test on 37 different chemicals, some cancer-causing, some not. After a while, he was able to predict which substances could cause cancer. In every instance, the compounds that were carcinogenic took the UV light, absorbed it and changed or scrambled the frequency while the non carninogenic ones allowed the UV light to pass through them unaltered.

The cancer inducing substances opposed resistance while the other ones did'nt oppose any at all but on the contrary allowed the UV light to flow through. Fear in the former and Love in the latter.

When we are in a state of fear it is the everlasting and perpetual divine flow of creation itself that we oppose therefore contracting space and limiting ourselves .

Limits do no longer exist in the State of Love .

Yes! More pieces of the puzzle to give my brain when it still questions the wisdom of following the heart's lead. I still catch it sometimes although less so these days thanks to gems like this shared on the forum by wise souls like Hobbit and Mudra. I now know exactly why I was led to this forum and am so grateful.

Adding what's written above to post #175 (here: http://www.themistsofavalon.net/t48p165-the-heart-portal) from Mudra has been pure gold. Thank you, thank you, thank you. cheers Flowers

Egyptian pyramids found by infra-red satellite images

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-13522957

Seventeen lost pyramids are among the buildings identified in a new satellite survey of Egypt.

More than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also revealed by looking at infra-red images which show up underground buildings.

Initial excavations have already confirmed some of the findings, including two suspected pyramids.

The work has been pioneered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham by US Egyptologist Dr Sarah Parcak.

She says she was amazed at how much she and her team has found.

"We were very intensely doing this research for over a year. I could see the data as it was emerging, but for me the "Aha!" moment was when I could step back and look at everything that we'd found and I couldn't believe we could locate so many sites all over Egypt.

"To excavate a pyramid is the dream of every archaeologist," she said.

The team analysed images from satellites orbiting 700km above the earth, equipped with cameras so powerful they can pin-point objects less than 1m in diameter on the earth's surface.

Infra-red imaging was used to highlight different materials under the surface.

    Test excavations
Ancient Egyptians built their houses and structures out of mud brick, which is much denser than the soil that surrounds it, so the shapes of houses, temples and tombs can be seen.

"It just shows us how easy it is to underestimate both the size and scale of past human settlements," says Dr Parcak.

And she believes there are more antiquities to be discovered:

"These are just the sites [close to] the surface. There are many thousands of additional sites that the Nile has covered over with silt. This is just the beginning of this kind of work."

BBC cameras followed Dr Parcak on her "nervous" journey when she travelled to Egypt to see if excavations could back up what her technology could see under the surface.

In the BBC documentary Egypt's Lost Cities, they visit an area of Saqqara (Sakkara) where the authorities were not initially interested in her findings.

But after being told by Dr Parcak that she had seen two potential pyramids, they made test excavations, and they now believe it is one of the most important archaeological sites in Egypt.

watch video here : Arrow http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-13522957

But Dr Parcak said the most exciting moment was visiting the excavations at Tanis.

"They'd excavated a 3,000-year-old house that the satellite imagery had shown and the outline of the structure matched the satellite imagery almost perfectly. That was real validation of the technology."

The Egyptian authorities plan to use the technology to help - among other things - protect the country's antiquities in the future.

During the recent revolution, looters accessed some well-known archaeological sites.

"We can tell from the imagery a tomb was looted from a particular period of time and we can alert Interpol to watch out for antiquities from that time that may be offered for sale."

She also hopes the new technology will help engage young people in science and will be a major help for archaeologists around the world.

"It allows us to be more focused and selective in the work we do. Faced with a massive site, you don't know where to start.

"It's an important tool to focus where we're excavating. It gives us a much bigger perspective on archaeological sites. We have to think bigger and that's what the satellites allow us to do."

"Indiana Jones is old school, we've moved on from Indy. Sorry, Harrison Ford."

Egypt's Lost Cities is on BBC One on Monday 30 May at 2030 BST. It will also be shown on the Discovery channel in the US.

Human Footprints Dating Back up to 25,000 Years Found in Mexico

    recent archaeological discoveries - Page 2 25K%20Human%20Footprints%20-%201

MEXICO CITY – National Anthropology and History Institute, or INAH, specialists have discovered five human footprints in northern Mexico’s Sierra Tarahumara that could be between 4,500 and 23,000 years old, officials said.

The find took place in the northern state of Chihuahua after a local resident notified the authorities about the imprints, which were probably left by some of the first humans to populate that region of northern Mexico.

INAH said in a communique that these are “the first human footprints to be found” in Chihuahua and that if their antiquity is verified, “they will be added to the few footprints left by the earliest inhabitants of the American continent that are preserved in Mexico.”

To date in Mexico footprints have been found in the municipality of Cuatro Cienegas in Coahuila state and on a ranch in the state of Sonora.

Two of the footprints correspond to the two feet of an adult, while the other three are of two adults and a child.

They all probably lived in caves in the Ahuatos Valley in the Sierra Tarahumara mountains, eight kilometers (11 miles) from the village of Creel in Chihuahua state, the institute said.

The largest footprint is 26 centimeters (10 inches) long and was made by an adult male, while the smallest measures 17 centimeters (7 inches) and corresponds to the right foot of a child 3 to 4 years old.

The two prints made by one person’s feet have six toes each, “possibly due to a malformation,” INAH said.

Anthropologist Jose Concepcion Jimenez said that a Chihuahua resident sent him an e-mail telling him of ancient footprints in the Ahuatos Valley in the municipality of Bocoyna.

“After several searches we found them in a stream running down an incline in a place of approximately 1,000 square meters (¼ acre). The imprints are located in an area about 2 meters (6½ feet) into the stream that only has water during the rainy season and is dry the rest of the year,” he said.

The experts made a study of terrain extending 50 kilometers (31 miles) around the place and found “an area with traces of primitive campsites.”

That has led the experts to believe that humans were present in the area from times as remote as the Pleistocene Epoch – 12,000 years ago.

The anthropologists also found five caves nearby with traces of human presence, three of them with several layers of cave paintings from three different periods: preceramic, pre-Hispanic and colonial.

Also found in the caves were soot from bonfires and holes carved into the rocks to be used as mortars for grinding food.

At the cave entrances specialists also detected a series of holes 25 centimeters (almost 10 inches) in diameter by 1.3 meters (4 1/4 feet) deep “that could have been used for storing food, as well as some smaller ones perhaps used to stick wooden posts into,” the note said.

According to Jimenez, coordinator of INAH’s Early Man in Mexico project, these discoveries are of great relevance because they indicate that this part of Chihuahua state was settled by “some of the first bands of human beings to arrive in this part of the continent.”

The official said that some additional laboratory studies will be needed to assign an exact date to these human remains, cave paintings and other archaeological materials that have been found.

As of now the oldest human remains in the Americas are those of the so-called “Naharon woman,” 11,600 years old, which were found in a cenote in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.

Alien Base Found At Chinese Pyramid

    28 octobre 2011

A team of daring Chinese researchers, digging into the ancient mysteries of the origin of their country, have come to the inescapable conclusion that 12,000 years ago an interstellar, supreme alien race used much of the northern and central Chinese regions as massive Earth bases.

Hundreds of strange pyramids cover parts of China
One such base may be the astonishing pyramid structure that sits near the apex of Mount Baigong in the western province of Qinghai, the Xianyang pyramid.

China is the focus of legends, myths and stories of alien visitations and many of them center on the Xianyang pyramid.
Local villagers claim their distant ancestors spoke of sky great ships that navigated the heavens and used the pyramid as a landing, refueling and resupply site.

    ET origins investigated
The hypothesis regarding extra-terrestrials is "understandable and worth looking into, [but] scientific means must be employed to prove whether or not it is true,” Yang Ji, one of the scientists and a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences explained to reporters.
While the scientific exploration team agrees, all indications are that aliens used the giant structure as one of its primary Earth bases.

Top is flattened - to accomodate landing ships?
The anomalous pyramid rises almost 200 feet above the countryside—the surrounding area littered with mystifying pipes, bizarre artifacts and unworldly odds and ends.
China’s state-run Xinhua agency sent a nine man team to investigate the pyramid and report back on their findings.
The team discovered pipes running from the caves and deep into the ground slanting down into the earth…towards what?

Scientific team discovered numeous odd articfacts
The agency tersely says: “The pyramid has three caves with openings shaped like triangles on its façade and is filled with red-hued pipes leading into the mountain and a nearby salt water lake.”
Above the caves are dozens of pipes—all of various diameters—that mysteriously run into the mountainside beneath the towering pyramid. All the pipes match the color of the surrounding rocks, a murky reddish-brown.

Broken pipe goes deep into ground to...?
Elsewhere, more pipes, many lying shattered are scattered littering the ground in every direction. Some of the pipes follow the bank of a salty lake while others dip into the water and plunge beneath the lake bed.

Divers find large, unexplained object at bottom of Baltic Sea

A team of salvage divers has discovered an unexplained object resting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea near Sweden.
"This thing turned up. My first reaction was to tell the guys that we have a UFO here on the bottom," said Peter Lindberg, the leader of the amateur treasure hunters.
Sonar readings show that the mysterious object is about 60 meters across, or, about the size of a jumbo jet. And it's not alone. Nearby on the sea floor is another, smaller object with a similar shape. Even more fascinating, both objects have "drag marks" behind them on the sea floor, stretching back more than 400 feet.

Machine dated at 400 million years found in Russia

    recent archaeological discoveries - Page 2 Kamchatka01russia

RUSSIA. In the remote Kamchatka peninsula (map below), 200 km from Tigil, University of St. Petersburg archaeologists discovered a strange fossil. The authenticity of the find has been certified. According archaeologist Yuri Golubev, occurs that, in this case the discovery surprised scientists by its nature, at least - unusual, able to change history (or pre-history).

It is not the first time that is an artifact, an ancient object, something like this is found in that region. But, surprisingly conserved, this specific artifact is - at first glance, inlaid in rock (which is understandable since the peninsula is home to numerous volcanoes). Subjected to analysis, the conjunct showed to be made of metal parts that seem to form a mechanism, a gear which may be of a type of watch or computer. The astonishing is that all the pieces were dated in 400 million! of anos.Yury Gobulev commented:

We got a call from the prefec of Tigil. He told us that hikers that were walking in place, found these remains in rock. We went to the place indicated, and initially we not understand what we saw. There were - hundreds of toothed cylinders which appeared to be parts of a machine.

They were in perfect state of conservation, as if they were frozen in a short period of time. It was necessary control the area, because soon the curious began to appear in large numbers. Other scientists, americans geologists, defined the piece as an amazing and mysterious artifact.

Nobody could believe that 400 million years ago could have existed on Earth even a man [even more a machine]. At that time, the forms of vida were very simple, but the finding, [simply] - clearly suggests the existence of intelligent beings capable of such technology. Certainly, such beings would had come from other planets. It is possible that a spaceship can had was damaged [or there was an accident] and it was abandoned in place

I wonder how many times earth has gone through cycles where the technology is advanced and then back to square one.

Yes, it's interesting that they assume automatically that it must come from a spaceship that crashed....not that human beings could once have had that technology. History has been so hidden that it seems ingrained into our current mindset that we are 'new' to the Universe and ignorant children compared to ETs. Easy to guess why we've been manipulated that way eh. Mad

Huge Underwater Pyramid Discovered Near Portugal – The Navy is Investigating

recent archaeological discoveries - Page 2 Underwaterr

Portuguese news reported the discovery of a very large under water pyramid first discovered by Diocleciano Silva between the islands of São Miguel and Terceira in the Azores of Portugal.

According to claims, the structure is said to be perfectly squared and oriented by the cardinal points.

Current estimates obtained using GPS digital technology put the height at 60 meters with a base of 8000 square meters.

The Portuguese Hydrographic Institute of the Navy currently has the job of analyzing the data to determine whether or not the structure is man-made.

“The pyramid is perfectly shaped and apparently oriented by the cardinal points,” Silva told Diário Insular, the local newspaper.

The pyramid was found in an area of the mid-Atlantic that has been underwater for about 20,000 years. Considering this is around the time of the last ice age where glaciation was melting from its peak 2000 years prior, whatever civilization, human or not, that was around before the ice age, could be responsible for building the pyramid.

The Nebra Sky Disc - Ancient European Map of the Stars

In 1999 a mysterious disc was unearthed in Nebra, Germany, and it fascinated researchers with it’s strange golden markings. The weathered and dented disc, unearthed by treasure hunters, had a blue-green patina, and was embellished with golden symbols.

Until 2006, the Sky Disc of Nebra was considered a hoax, an enigma to the archaeological world - but its meaning was deciphered, and it changed history.

The disc’s golden pieces demonstrate astronomical alignments, with a sun, moon, and stars, all found to depict the oldest known representation of the heavens.

In an article from 2006 about the discovery, DW.com described the "gold-leaf appliqués representing the sun, the moon, and the stars is the oldest visual representation of the cosmos known to date. A cluster of seven dots has previously been interpreted as the Pleiades constellation as it appeared 3,600 years ago. "

The disc it is known as an authentic and priceless Bronze Age religious and astronomical artifact. It is said to have unlocked the secrets of European history and civilization.

A group of German scientists has deciphered the meaning of one of the most spectacular archeological discoveries in recent years: The mystery-shrouded sky disc of Nebra was used as an advanced astronomical clock.

The purpose of the 3,600 year-old sky disc of Nebra, which caused a world-wide sensation when it was brought to the attention of the German public in 2002, is no longer a matter of speculation.

A group of German scholars who studied this archaeological gem has discovered evidence which suggests that the disc was used as a complex astronomical clock for the harmonization of solar and lunar calendars.

"This is a clear expansion of what we knew about the meaning and function of the sky disc," said archeologist Harald Meller.

    A thirteenth month?

Unlike the solar calendar, which indicates the position of the earth as it revolves around the sun, the lunar calendar is based on the phases of the moon. A lunar year is eleven days shorter than the solar year because 12 synodic months, or 12 returns of the moon to the new phase, take only 354 days.

The sky disc of Nebra was used to determine if and when a thirteenth month -- the so-called intercalary month -- should be added to a lunar year to keep the lunar calendar in sync with the seasons.

"The functioning of this clock was probably known to a very small group of people," Meller said.
