How to Unlock Your Brain Capacity

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asM02Vu19hw

What if told you there is a way of increasing your mental clarity, focus, concentration, ability to remember while getting ripped as a byproduct. And it’s all pretty easy to do.

What you need to do is deplete the regular sources of energy your brain uses for fuel which restricts its true capacity. Then you need to tap into the brain’s prefered source of energy which is often covered up and locked away due our diets and eating habits. And by making some adjustments to these habits, you’ll be able to fuel your brain with another source of energy which allows it to run up to 70 % more efficiently than it normally would.

The first thing you need to do is to forget about the regular food pyramid where you’re encourage to eat the majority of your caloric intake in carbohydrates and keep fat to an absolute minimum. Your body will break down carbs and excess protein into sugar known as glucose. And that glucose will force its way in as the first source of energy for both your brain and body leaving other better sources on energy untapped. And all that excess glucose will be converted into stored fat. So this way of eating will essentially make you fat and stupid. Flip that food pyramid upside down and instead eat the majority of your caloric intake in fat while keeping carbs extremely low. This will not make you gain weight and become fat, unless you eat extreme amounts of course, but pretty much the opposite - it will turn you into a fat burning machine that uses that fat as the primary source of fuel as blood sugar and glucose are depleted from the lack of carbs.

This is generally known as the ketogenic diet and requires you to get around 70-80 % of your caloric intake from fat, 15-20 % from protein and inevitably some carbs. You’re now tapping into the prefered source of energy and instead of storing fat, you’re now using that fat as energy. And when that fat is broken down, ketone bodies are released to fuel the brain. And let me tell you something the brain loves ketone bodies and studies have shown that the brain can run up to 70 % more efficiently on ketones than on glucose. So this new way of eating will essentially make you ripped and smart.

The second thing you need to do is to forget about the traditional way of eating many small meals throughout the day and instead focus on eating fewer larger meals and fast for an extended period of the day, preferably for 16 hours leaving you with an 8 hour eating window. And this will also ramp up the process of getting into ketosis. This is known as intermittent fasting and is becoming one of most popular ways of eating and it’s not hard to understand why when you look at the benefits from it. It’s super convenient once you get used to restricting the hours you eat on and saves you time and effort that you can spend doing something else. Fasting or consciously abstaining from food has been used throughout history by the some of the greatest people to ever live as a way of improving their quality of life. Plato, the great Greece philosopher has been quoted saying “I fast for greater physical and mental efficiency”, so if you don’t take my word for it take Platos. They discovered that intermittent fasting will ramp up that depletion of glucose and use ketones to fuel the brain which will increase your focus, concentration, ability to remember while simultaneously reducing the risk of alzheimer's and parkinson’s disease. It increases the BDNF, brain derived neurotrophic factor by up to 400 % which helps activate stem cells in the brain to make new brain cells, neurons and nerves.

And BDNF is highly involved in your muscles and appears to be a huge reason for why a physical workout have such an impact on your brain. Fasting improves neuroplasticity which is essential for learning and memory and as the brain ages it tends to become less neuroplastic. Intermittent fasting prevents this and you’ll be able to have great mental clarity even as you get older. It improves gene regulation by activating a number of repair genes termed vitagenes, which is responsible for the delay of aging, decreased occurrence of age-related diseases, and prolongs a healthy life span.

    Ketogenic Diet for Vegetarians

Is a ketogenic diet for vegetarians reasonably possible? Regardless of your motives for cutting out the animal meat, you are probably equally aware of all the buzz about the ketogenic diet and wondering if you can go keto for all the performance while staying away from all the meats.

The answer is yes, but it takes a little extra thought. While the traditional keto diet typically involves a lot of meat for protein, it’s also not necessary to eat meat while following the plan. In fact, the biggest component of the ketogenic diet is fat, which you can easily get from vegetarian foods.

For omnivores going keto, the most common mistake is eating too much protein.

However, the biggest mistake vegetarians make is eating too many carbohydrates from vegetables. You do have to be a little more careful with your carb and protein choices since traditional vegetarian forms of protein include things like beans and grains, which aren’t a part of a keto diet.

Let’s tackle this by discussing the three macronutrients one at a time.

Carbohydrates for a Vegetarian Ketogenic Diet

Since vegetarian diets are typically higher in carbs than meat-eating diets, it’s especially important to understand the right types of carbs when following a meat-free ketogenic diet.
    Good Carbs Vs Bad Carbs

Besides getting plenty of healthy fats, watching your carbs is one of the most important factors here—and a lot of the go-to meals and especially snacks common for vegetarians and vegans are pretty carb-heavy. But excessive carbohydrates (even from veggies) aren’t part of a keto diet. Of course, refined carbs like sugar, flour, bread, cereal, chips, etc. are immediately off the table.
Bad Carbs (High Glycemic, Highly Processed)

Here are some carb sources to remove from your home and kitchen:

    Pastas
    Breads
    Chips, crackers, and pretzels
    Tortillas
    Rice
    Sodas
    Cereals
Any other packaged foods with refined sugars or flours
    Fruit juices and most fruits
    White potatoes, sweet potatoes
    Starchy vegetables

Good carbs on a vegetarian keto diet are basically the same as those on a normal keto diet, such as low-carb fruits, full-fat yogurts, and low-carb veggies (more on this below).
Good Carbs (Limited) for a Vegetarian on Keto

    Low-carb Vegetables

If you’re one of those vegetarians who hates vegetables, this diet is going to be harder for you. While the most important aspect of keto is keeping your fat content high, you’ll need healthy low-carb veggies to provide enough bulk and fiber to fill in your meals and get enough to eat.

Don’t be afraid to explore and open yourself up to trying new vegetables in different ways. If raw turns you off, try cooking some in coconut oil or butter with lots of seasonings. Give yourself time to get used to the changes. Here are some low-carb vegetables to rely on:

    Spinach
    Kale
    Collard greens
    Swiss chard
    Lettuce
    Asparagus
    Green beans
    Broccoli
    Cucumber
    Summer and winter squash
    Red and white cabbage
    Cauliflower
    Bell peppers
    Onions
    Mushrooms
    Tomatoes
    Eggplants
    Garlic

    Fruits

All types of fruits should be limited, but berries are lower in sugars and carbs, so they’re typically okay in small amounts and at the end of the day before you fast while sleeping:

    Blackberries
    Strawberries
    Raspberries
    Blueberries
