I know that the colors were from a "casing" they completely covered the pyramids with. I also know that the great pyramid was the white one (which was a limestone casing). I can't remember what the other two casings consisted of, but it is interesting to note that they were all excellent conductors.
As of what I know about the pyramids right now, I don't see how they could of been used as burial chambers. They differ so much from the rest of the burial sites they know of. Also, I watched a show once that theorized there was once pockets of water underneath the great pyramid which they inserted conductive material into, in order to harness energy.
This is very interesting when you look at Edgar Cayce's readings on Atlantis, he talks about the atlantians having a giant crystal that they harnessed the power of the sun with to kill "huge animals". <----(dinosaurs?) Then you look at the fact that the top of the great pyramid is missing... hmmm... see what I'm getting at here? But that's just a connection I made, just speculation.
