HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 - Page 2 Empty Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

Post  Carol Sun Jan 01, 2012 10:38 am

There are many ways to celebrate endings and new beginnings. Earlier in the day we called old friends and caught up on what has been happening this year. One friend lost her mom last year, follow by me losing my mom this year. This same friend also lost her job at the beginning of summer due to cuts and downsizing. She can't really sell her house or move due to the housing market in her area being flat. A sign of the times. So we brainstormed searching in our imagination different ways to make the life changes she is seeking. Later our small family went out at night to light our small catch of fireworks in the driveway and laugh while enjoying the popping sounds and display of flashing glittering sparkling lights. Then we came in and while looking at this lovely video I was reminded of many years ago when I would invite friends over for a New Year Eve party. As it neared the hour of the passing day into the new year we listened to something like this and meditated bringing to mind our hopes, wishes and dreams for our new beginning.

I do think humankind struggles with many conflicting emotions much of what is driven my hormones and whatnot... yet when all is said and done - for the most part we seek harmony. If one were to imagine each person as a note on a sheet of music it is easier to see that each life has a purpose and meaning.

Anyone sitting in a room with musicians notices how discordant the music is when everyone is tuning up. Each individual is often totally self-involved in their task of bringing their instrument into perfect pitch. It is only when ones own instrument is perfectly pitched that a coming together for a greater purpose happens. Some individuals may start off as a solo act while others listen to each other to know when to participate and when to rest. Yet in the awareness that we are more then just one individual and part of a much larger awareness - joy, friendship and sharing occurs where a sense of purpose and fulfillment can occur.

At this point of time once again the world is on edge. And one again each individual is given the task of tuning their own instrument and ignite the divine light within. Our ultimate goal is truly learning how to work with one another with an attitude of respect and harmony toward a common goal of enlightenment where one has the ability to move beyond the baser emotions of greed, lust and anger toward understanding that each decision that we make does make a difference and does have an affect on both ourself and others. Some have called this the butterfly effect. Meaning it doesn't take much effort to have an effect on others half-way around the planet.

The real question is what type of impact would want to have as compared to being trapped by habit and old conditioning. To seek understanding within is to tune ones own instrument of discernment.

The lotus can also be compared to ones own life. The roots (baser emotions) are deeply rooted in mud and sometimes it's difficult to know where one is in their own life or even what direction to move in. Yet in the stillness the seed knows that it is to become a lotus. From the roots the stem travels a watery path upwards. It seeks the light. It does not yet know what it is to become as its awareness is only that of a seed and stem seeking something more then just existing in mud and water. There is an inner drive, a divine drive to become all that it can be. It's journey takes it from the depths to the heights of something quite amazing and beautiful. As the stem leafs out the bud forms and still does not know it is a bud or what is to come. It just is. And when time has passed and it is ready - the bud unfolds whereupon it's radiant beauty is expressed in the light of the sun. Is this not similar to our own human journey along ones own spiritual path?

It is my most sincere wish that the lotus within is revealed to each individual where their spirit is nourished in understanding and awareness.

It is also my most sincere wish that the people of this planet recognize that the human spirit is meant to be free and will do whatever it can to emerge from the mud and watery environment in its innate drive to seek the light.

There is no escape from oneself. So I suppose the real question is... how does one develop those positive feelings within where one is happy wherever one is?

I suspect this is when one is connected to their creative side and are in harmony with others along with their environment. It also comes from the still quiet place within - buried deep within ones heart. That empty space between ones head (the intellect) and the heart can be bridge with tears of compassion for the human condition.

You may ask - just what is the human condition? There would be many answers and all of them correct. And yet - is this not when one is disconnected from both the knowledge and direct experience of our own spiritual beingness.

Don't you think a worthy goal is to learn how to sing, dance and be in harmony with self and others?

Why do we have to have Wars? What is this all about? Who said we have to engage in behaviors that create pain and suffering for self and others? Who said greed was good? Who said it was right to take what does not belong to us? Who said we can't get along? Who said we have to exploit others? Why is this okay or even allowed? Perhaps part of this is where each individual has to learn how to take a stand for what is “right action” and not surrender to the evil others perpetrate.

What is life about if we are not tested? How is a sword of truth to be sharpened? How do we determine what is essential to the spirit?

How do we move beyond dysfunctional conditioning and claim our inherent spiritual heritage? No one said it would be easy. It isn't meant to be easy because without effort there is little appreciation of this gift. We are part of the collective, the energy that fills this planet. Each of us must determine for ourselves what type of energy we share. Are we that finely tuned instrument or are we discordant noise still working on finding the correct tones that blend into a beautiful symphony.

This past year I've been in positions of great strife. It has not been easy and I've had to face some of the most difficult times of my life. Yet even in the midst of this strife there were some of the best memories as well. And just for the record - doing the right thing is not always easy. Yet doing the right thing in the midst of strife is really where one knows that a life challenge has been met and passed with flying colors. We must use our energy to bring light into our life and the life of others. We do this by maintaining our spiritual integrity. Spiritual integrity requires kindness even when we don't feel like it.

Be kind. Practice random acts of kindness.

Let your smile spring from your heart. Be grateful for your life. May you practice the art of compassion. May you learn how to look for ways to make things work where all benefit. May the abundance you experience be spiritual abundance and genuine love for your fellow human. May each person bring healing to oneself and others recognizing that we are one people on this one planet.

Carol (mother, wife, sister, friend) Hadriel

    The Mayan Hero Twins

This myth from the Popol Vuh encodes a message for humanity relevant to the beginning of the next mayan cycle. One Hunaphu shall be restored, and Seven Macaw shall lose his seating on the throne of the world, reconnecting mankind to its eternal source as we align with the galactic centre.

Seven Macaw is a bird deity, a false sun, who proclaims his divine nature but is in fact something else. He is the ego. The ego identity centered in ego consciousness serves a purpose when held in correct relationship to the eternal soul. Seven Macaw squawks and deceives humanity, magnifying himself as the true sun, and tries to take the place of the One Hunahpu (the eternal soul). The story begins when One Hunahpu travels to the underworld and encounters the Lords of the Underworld, is deceived and gets his head cut off. The meaning of this is profound, and matches the story of Quetzalcoatl’s fall among the later Aztecs. The perfect divine being, the consciousness aware of its eternal source, loses itself and forgets its divine nature. A spiritual darkness then falls over the world. In the absence of the divine wisdom’s guiding presence, ego gets a promotion and proclaims itself as the true self. Worldly power (Seven Macaw) takes centre stage and spiritual wisdom is handed a mop to clean up the mess left by the ego. The world then falls into deception and ignorance. In the Christian tradition, a similar insight is found in the myth of the Fall, when humanity forgets how to live in the partnership and harmony of Eden where God’s presence is directly known after the Fall, the eternal soul is forgotten.

Maya philosophy shares with many wisdom traditions the idea that the deepest identity of a human being is the supreme identity found in one’s eternal and infinite source-consciousness, the undying transcendent centre from which the manifest world springs. In Hindu religion, the eternal soul of the individual is called Atman, whereas the eternal soul and source of the universe is called Brahman. In a state of higher consciousness, of realization of truth, the Hindu yogi experiences the previously hidden truth that Atman and Brahman are one and the same. Mayan kings were also initiated into this knowledge, and One Hunahpu is the mythical archetype of this kind of awakened person.
