HOWEVER Quarter-mile-wide asteroid will dart between the Earth and moon Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 while a huge group of sunspots are slowly rotating to face our planet creating a 'possibility' of a CME directed toward earth and disruption of satellite communications.
Dutch Sinse: Disturbing quote from FCC: "the EAN code will automatically generate a text crawl that will say "A Primary Entry Point station has issued an Emergency Action Notification . . . " The text crawl will not indicate that the event is a test."

    hmm.. a "primary entry point"?! P.R.E.P.? !!!

11/9/2011 --Emergency Action Notification - Asteroid 2005 YU55 WILL NOT HIT EARTH - HOWEVER Untitled
As the title of this post says… this is a REAL WTH moment.

    Actually, its more like a W.hiskey T.ango F.oxtrot !

On November 9, 2011 — 11/9/11 — the USA is going to conduct a test of the new EAS (emergency alert system).

They just changed the time format from 3min 3osec long down to 30 seconds…which some are asking about… raising questions as to why the sudden change in plans? The coincidence of a large passing asteroid (2005 YU55) does not help suspicions at all. Here is a link to see the “past dates” of disaster coincidence :

    http://sincedutch.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/1132011-asteroid-2005-yu55-closest-approach-150000-miles-not-going-to-hit-earth/

More importantly, I noticed this section of the .pdf manual they have released… it clearly says that the TEXT that is sent out from the HQ will NOT SAY that this is a test ! The say adding the “test” wording is “encouraged” to be added!

Wait, this sounds like a RE-RUN.. the FCC should know all about those ! If this isn’t seen as a TEST by everyone … I sure hope we don’t see an ORSON WELLS – War of the Worlds panic!

    from the FCC .pdf:

“The audio portion of the test will state: “This is a Test.” However, for video service providers (a category that includes broadcast, cable, satellite, and wireline video providers), the EAN code will automatically generate a text crawl that will say “A Primary Entry Point station has issued an Emergency Action Notification . . . “The text crawl will not indicate that the event is a test.

FCC rules require only that video service providers transmit a visual message containing the information resident in the EAS header code. There is no EAN test code at this time, and the information within the EAN header code cannot be altered.

To minimize public confusion and to ensure that the test is fully accessible, video service
provider EAS Participants are encouraged to insert a separate visual element during the test
to indicate to their viewers that “THIS IS A TEST” if doing so is technically and operationally
feasible and does not interfere with the operation of the underlying test.“

I really wonder what a “primary entry point station” is. And why they can’t put “test” in the text field when you can clearly put anything you want into a text field.

The government always likes to assign acronyms to everything… so a “primary entry point station” = P.R.E.P.S. or PREP = prepare/preparation station.

How ironic, that on 11/9/11 that a FCC EAS message from FEMA will be issued from a PREP . Time for them to go to their DUMB and use HAARP and RADAR on NEO YU55 !

The asteroid, dubbed 2005 YU55, will come within 202,000 miles of Earth, closer than the moon, before zipping farther into space. Carbon-colored and dark, the asteroid measures some 1,300 feet wide. It will be the closest visit by a space rock this size in more than three decades."This is not a potentially hazardous asteroid, just a good opportunity to study one," National Science Foundation astronomer Thomas Statler says. NASA and the NSF plan a series of radar telescope and other observations starting Friday, aimed at mapping the asteroid's surface and chemistry.

"This is a test of the emergency broadcast system," is a phrase heard by anyone with a television or radio. The test are to insure that broadcast signals are working during a severe weather alert, during which listeners are advised to seek shelter and other life-saving information.

On Wednesday, Nov. 9, the federal government will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System. The test will last up to three and a half minutes. During the test, regularly scheduled television, radio, cable and satellite shows will be interrupted.

The public is being cautioned the test will not take place if a severe weather event is already happening, said Mason County Emergency Management Director Jack Fultz.
Otherwise, the public should not panic while the test is being conducted at 2 p.m., eastern standard time (8 a.m. Hawaii).

According to information provided to Fultz through Federal Emergency Management Agency, the nation EAS is an alert and warning system that can be activated by the president if needed, to provide information to the American public during emergencies.

The test is a joint effort of FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

A quarter-mile-wide asteroid will dart between the Earth and moon Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 while a huge group of sunspots are slowly rotating to face our planet creating a 'possibility' of a CME directed toward earth and disruption of satellite communications.

Nov. 5, 2011 -- There's a storm brewing on the sun's surface and it could
unleash its magnetic fury on Earth within the next five days.

    http://news.discovery.com/space/big-pic-monster-sunspots-solar-flare-111105.html
That ominous warning comes from solar scientists at the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center who are tracking a huge group of sunspots that are slowly rotating to face our planet. As imaged by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) in Friday, this is the largest group of sunspots seen on the sun since 2005. The largest sunspot (pictured above) is 17-times the width of the Earth. WATCH VIDEO at link: http://news.discovery.com/space/big-pic-monster-sunspots-solar-flare-111105.html
A solar eruption sends a wave of plasma hurtling towards Earth on August 1st, 2010. The event was captured by NASA satellites SCIENCE CHANNEL: Wonders of the Solar System: The Sun

Active region 1339 has been crackling with flare activity -- for now blasting the majority of its energy away from us -- but on Thursday, it showed solar astronomers what it's capable of; erupting with the most powerful type of flare.

The effects of the X-rays generated by the Nov. 3 X-class flare were detected in our upper atmosphere as waves of ionization altered the propagation of radio waves over Europe and the Americas, according to SpaceWeather.com
    .

Sunspots are the result of intense magnetic stress inside the sun. As we approach solar maximum (expected around 2013), we can expect to see more sunspots as intense magnetic fields break through the surface, exposing the cooler solar interior -- dark spots are the result.

NASA in final preparations for Nov. 8 asteroid flyby
    http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-10-nasa-nov-asteroid-flyby.html
(PhysOrg.com) -- NASA scientists will be tracking asteroid 2005 YU55 with antennas of the agency's Deep Space Network at Goldstone, Calif., as the space rock safely flies past Earth slightly closer than the moon's orbit on Nov. 8. Scientists are treating the flyby of the 1,300-foot-wide (400-meter) asteroid as a science target of opportunity - allowing instruments on "spacecraft Earth" to scan it during the close pass. Tracking of the aircraft carrier-sized asteroid will begin at 9:30 a.m. local time (PDT) on Nov. 4, using the massive 70-meter (230-foot) Deep Space Network antenna, and last for about two hours. The asteroid will continue to be tracked by Goldstone for at least four hours each day from Nov. 6 through Nov. 10. Radar observations from the Arecibo Planetary Radar Facility in Puerto Rico will begin on Nov. 8, the same day the asteroid will make its closest approach to Earth at 3:28 p.m. PST. (AP) -- An asteroid bigger than an aircraft carrier will dart between the Earth and moon on Tuesday - the closest encounter by such a huge rock in 35 years. But scientists say not to worry. It won't hit.
    "
We're extremely confident, 100 percent confident, that this is not a threat," said the manager of NASA's Near Earth Object Program, Don Yeomans. "But it is an opportunity."

The asteroid named 2005 YU55 is being watched by ground antennas as it approaches from the direction of the sun. The last time it came within so-called shouting distance was 200 years ago.

Closest approach will occur at 6:28 p.m. EST Tuesday when the asteroid passes within 202,000 miles of Earth. That's closer than the roughly 240,000 miles between the Earth and the moon.

The moon will be just under 150,000 miles from the asteroid at the time of closest approach.

Both the Earth and moon are safe - "this time," said Jay Melosh, professor of Earth and atmospheric sciences at Purdue University.

NEO (Near Earth Object) asteroid 2005 YU55 with a detected diameter of 400 meters is to safely pass the Earth on November 8, 2011. This body with a close interaction may have accompanying debris that may encounter Earth as meteors or fireballs. There is also a possibility that the Moon may experience increased meteor activity. Have your allsky cameras ready and get outside to observe if possible. If you have a telescope this object will be visible. Increased meteor/fireball activity will be 2-3 days on either side of Tuesday, November 8. Another potential for increased meteor activity, asteroid 2011 UT91, will pass on 15NOV2011.

Well we've been having a lot of rain and some thunder these past few days. It's been great curled up with a good book and hot cup of tea. Brook

Meanwhile... this should now be over.

Don't panic! TV and radio to shut down across America at 2pm EST today as national alert system is tested
First-ever nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System to occur on November 9 at 2:00pm EST
Will last up to three-and-a-half minutes

As we don't have TV or really listen to the radio, we missed it.

This 30-second audio tone and message will sound like emergency test messages that local television and radio stations have broadcast for nearly 50 years. But Wednesday's test will be the first time the federal Emergency Alert System – a last resort means for the president to address the country in a national emergency – has been tested on a national basis.

At the appointed time, a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) office in Washington will broadcast to "primary entry point" television and radio stations "live code" for an Emergency Action Notification – the same code the president would use in an actual emergency. Other Emergency Alert System (EAS) stations will then get the message and broadcast it, in a cascading effect.

IN PICTURES: US natural disasters of 2011

There are 14,000-plus broadcast television and radio stations, as well as 10,000-plus cable television systems in the EAS.

The EAS uses a "daisy chain" approach in which a few dozen television stations relay their signals to secondary stations, which in turn relay their signals to others. One advantage to such a system is that it isn't likely to get clogged, like cellphone networks often do during emergencies, as they did after the 9/11 attacks.

But will this system, a holdover from the cold-war era, really work?

Today's EAS system is a direct descendant of CONELRAD (Control of Electromagnetic Radiation), a military alert system created in 1951. Then in 1963, after the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) was created by expanding the military system to include state and local governments. Finally, the system was upgraded and automated in the 1990s, and its name was changed to the Emergency Alert System.

The purpose of the test Wednesday, federal officials say, is to put that old system through its paces – to allow FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) "to assess how well the Emergency Alert System would perform its primary function: alerting the public about a national emergency."

Adding urgency to the first-of-its-kind test are the various natural disasters the United States has faced this year, including tornadoes in Alabama and Joplin, Mo., as well as hurricane Irene. The US has also identified several potential national threats – including a cyberattack on the power grid and geomagnetic storms that could cripple huge swathes of the county's power grid, a FEMA spokesman says.

But perhaps the overriding reason to test the existing system: It is a necessary first step toward the longer-term goal of building an advanced digital system that can send alerts over the Internet and directly to cellphones, emergency broadcast experts say.
