This is a video outlining some of the basic detail and construction process of our 12' yurt. The structure is all steel, with insulated walls and roof, cedar exterior and includes one door and window. The entire yurt can be assembled by 2-3 people in 4-5 hours. There are two floor pans, two wall sections and 16 rafters that make the basic structure. All the kits we have will be complete kits from the floor to the roof. Our basic kits contain everything you need to have a nice basic structure as opposed to other kits where many of our standard features are "extras or optional". The Jump shelter is located in the Italian Alps at the Lake Goillet bank. It is situated partially in the water which allows visitors to experience its calming effect. The shape has evolved from a need to admire the natural beauty of this region. Soft lines emphasize its unity with the surrounding mountains. Its concrete structure helps to protect it against weather conditions and water level rise.

Greenhouse construction with a rocket mas heater, including an excellent demonstration of the rocket mass heater sideways burn. The greenhouse construction class is taught by Ernie and Erica Wisner, featuring the rocket mass heater techniques of Ianto Evans (of cob cottage company fame). I cannot think of a better approach to greenhouse heating.

This is the first phase of building this greenhouse. The focus is on the steps of building the rocket mass heater.

Since this will be an oehler style solar greenhouse, then it probably won't need much heat. But it will be a bonus. And the heated air could also be piped into the house.

A rockey mass heater is typically 10 times more efficient than a regular wood stove. And 20 times cleaner.

A mike oehler style greenhouse construction is probably the most efficient greenhouse known.

This part of the tour is hosted by Ianto Evans and features three much larger cob buildings. Including one that is designed to show off a cob home designed for suburbia.


Brian Kerkvliet from Inspiration Farm tells us about his little compost pile that provided 500 hot showers. Compost heat can, indeed, be captured to heat water. While decks can be isolating, I would like to do something like Lumenhaus, but low-tech: the ability to expand the living area in good weather by opening sliding panels.
