Requesting assistance to help clueless East Coast US residents

Hi, as we all know the quake in Virginia scared a lot of totally unprepared people. If I were to start putting up links for family and friends from Maine to Tampa, which sites would you suggest? Most people only click on one link if there is a list of links, so I want it to be the right one. Most preparedness lists are way too long, too complicated, and so people just throw up their hands and say all of those silly phrases, like, when my number's up, etc. Time for them to get a PLAN.
