Carolina Bays
They are called Carolina Bays because they were discovered in the Carolinas. They are oval shaped indentions in the earth that are all pointed in the same direction. Until the 1930's when they started doing aerial mapping that they had no idea that there were thousands of these things. They are not bays like you find by the sea. They were all about the same depth with small variations. For a long time science thought these crater shaped indentions were from astroids. They were not. Watch and learn about Carolina Bays.
