Re: Youtube and other Videos
Well - I didn't see 'em either to begin with here...
I then went to other Forums and got the advice that I was to make sure Shockwave and Flash Player were up to date. I also got advice that My Java should be up to date. This makes absdolute sense too as its a Flash Movie in most cases and It would need to be up to date as the Sites change or update Their Code over time.
So - I then updated all of that Software and Voila - I was seeing what I should have at that point rather than the Embed Code as was being displayed to Me minus the Video portraying as well as other little Issues.
Addtionally the Editor Mode "A" Button at the Top of the Post Window next to "close tags" can be clicked on and off, and that Changes the Editor or Post Box and what It portrays. For instance with It on - You get what You type so It will not parse Code You place into It. It'll just put the Code and then if You switch it back You get the reverse You get parsing of that Code to place Links and such so They Portray. IIRC - Its called a WYSIG Editor Option.
As far as what You put in the Video Posting Box as to the Code for Videos - Look to My Post in the Beginging of this Thread as I've detailed that as well for the Members wishing to do so...

Ensure You have the WYSIG Editor Mode Disabled by deselecting it as an Option using the "A" Button on Top of the Text Box for a Post - Copy the Embed Code from a Video - Open the Post Video Box Applet - Paste the Embed Code into there and then Hit OK.

Re: Youtube and other Videos
Nope - What You do is if You have an Image that You don't have on the Net but say on Your PC - You can click on that Button - "Host an Image" - And It'll be Hosted on the Net at the Link srvimg gives You after You navigate with that Applet onto Your PC and Upload It from there.
It'll then give You a Link from srvimg that You can then Click on the Image Button next to It - Take that Copied URL from srvimg - Paste it into that "Post Image" Box - Hit OK and Voila Hit "Preview" and You'll see It.
Geesh I guess We gave You Guys too many Options - LOL...

Re: Youtube and other Videos
Now instead of the Embed Code being Pasted into the Video Post Box as before - We now have to Paste the URL or Internet Address of the Video into the Video Post Box - Hit OK - And It should then display normally as before.

Re: Youtube and other Videos
You probably noticed that I have embedded videos from all sites recently: GLP, ABC, even youtube playlists :
Would you like me to tell you how I did? It's a bit more complicated to embed a youtube playlist than a video, but I can tell you how.

Re: Youtube and other Videos
Alright I'm gonna make it a comprehensive guide on Flash embedding. Here's the first part:
Right now there are 3 ways to embed a video here:
1. using the video button by pasting the video URL
2. using the flash button by pasting the video embed URL, and setting dimensions for it
3. posting the HTML embed code provided by the website where the video is posted
The second and third ways allows for playlists to be posted as well, and if I'm not mistaken, any Flash, even video games:
<embed src="http://www.classicgamesarcade.com/games/flash-tetris.swf" width="500px" height="500px" autostart="true" loop="false" controller="true"></embed>
Any of these methods might stop working in the future if the host makes changes to the forum, but let's assume it won't.
Do you understand how all these 3 methods work? If you do, then the only thing left is to explain how to get the playlist embed code. If you don't, then which one of the three do you have a problem with?

Re: Youtube and other Videos
I can't explain it all in one post but here's another bit of info:
When a vid has several parts, it doesn't necessarily mean that a playlist has been made for it. Someone has to make that playlist. The same person who uploaded the video parts will oftentimes make a playlist of them, but not always. Also, playlists can be deleted or edited thus screwing your posts that rely on the presence of those playlists on youtube. In other words, the videos you wanted to post would still be on youtube, but since you posted a playlist containing these videos, and now that the playlist is deleted, nothing would show up on the forum where you posted the playlist. That is why even though it is annoying to search for all the parts of the video we're watching, posting only the first part on the forum is the safest way to make sure it works for a long time, because you posted the actual video, not a playlist that can be edited or deleted at anytime by the youtube user who made it in the first place. The occasions where it is safe to post a playlist, in the sense that it will remain unedited and undeleted for a long time, are :
1. if the playlist belongs to the same user who has uploaded the series, has the same name as the series, and contains only the videos for that series. In that case, the odds are that the user made the playlist for the convenience of watching the series he uploaded, and that he will keep the playlist available for as long as the videos belonging to that playlist, and that he uploaded as well. Here is an example of such a playlist:
https://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=CD63BCE86EA89F8B
The title of the playlist is "Ayn Rand on Donahue 1979". It contains only 5 videos, the 5 parts of the series from which the playlist takes its name. And, most importantly, the creator of the playlist is the same who uploaded the 5 videos: brittle13. So we can safely assume that this playlist has been made for the unique purpose of playing only the 5 parts of the "Ayn Rand on Donahue 1979" series, and that the playlist will be available for as long as the videos are also available;
2. if you have a youtube account and make your own playlist in order to post it on the forum.
More later.

Re: Youtube and other Videos
Mudra I see in this post that you posted a video from GLP:
http://www.themistsofavalon.net/news-views-f9/gulf-oil-platform-explosion-and-spill-t369-739.htm
Could it be that you tried with success the third method I was talking about? You're not far from embedding a youtube playlist. Look at the link for a youtube playlist that I posted above and you will find the code to embed it the same way as you did for the GLP video. It's also the method I used to embed the Tetris video game.
