I just finished reading a book entitled One Second After which reviews the loss of life resulting from an EMP attack. Of course we could get an EMP from our home star the Sun as well. Either way, the likelihood that it would change the entire world as we know it is well documented. A conservative estimate would be that if an EMP hit over the eastern USA, 70% of the population would be dead within a year. Not from the EMP but because we have become a society that depends on delivery of all sorts of goods. All of our groceries, pharmacies, fuel, and etc are brought to the local market. We have become dependent on computers. Doesn't matter what it is, we are using far less cash and more debit cards. Anyway, there are tons of stuff about this out there. I tried to pick one that is not so much saying the world is coming to an end but one that is more educative. Enjoy.
