It's not that recent but it fits with the others.

David Walker on March 4, 2007
    The U.S. Economy is Unsustainable
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6Q14HOBThM
    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/03/01/60minutes/main2528226.shtml

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_M._Walker_(U.S._Comptroller_General)
Walker was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1951.[1] Walker served as Comptroller General of the United States and head of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) from 1998 to 2008. Appointed by President Bill Clinton, his tenure as the federal government's chief auditor spanned both Democratic and Republican administrations. While at the GAO, Walker embarked on a Fiscal Wake-up Tour,[2] partnering with the Brookings Institution, the Concord Coalition, and the Heritage Foundation to alert Americans to wasteful government spending.[3] Walker left the GAO to head the Peterson Foundation on March 12, 2008.[4] Labor-management relations became fractious during the 9-year tenure of the 7th Comptroller General, David M. Walker. On September 19, 2007, GAO analysts voted by a margin of two to one (897–445), in a 75% turnout, to establish the first union in GAO's 86-year history.

Walker has compared the present-day United States to the Roman Empire in its decline, saying the U.S. government is on a "burning platform" of unsustainable policies and practices with fiscal deficits, expensive overcommitments to government provided health care, swelling Medicare and Social Security costs, the enormous expense of a prospective universal health care system, immigration, and overseas military commitments threatening a crisis if action is not taken soon.[8][9][10][11]

Walker has also taken the position that there will be no technological change that will mitigate health care and social security problems into 2050 despite ongoing discoveries.

In the national press, Walker has been a vocal critic of profligate spending at the federal level. In Fortune magazine, he recently warned that "from Washington, we'll need leadership rather than laggardship.";[12] in another op-ed in the Financial Times, he argued that the credit crunch could portend a far greater fiscal crisis;[13] and on CNN, he said that the United States is "underwater to the tune of $50 trillion" in long-term obligations.[14]

He favorably compares the thrift of early Americans, who had debtors' prisons, with modern times, where "we now have something closer to debtors' pardons, and that's not good."[15][16]

Here's a recent anti-warning just as scary as an actual warning:

Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov (Russian: Юрий Безменов, also known as Tomas David Schuman; 1939 – 1997?) was a journalist for RIA Novosti and a former KGB informant from the Soviet Union who defected to Canada.

After being assigned to a station in India, Bezmenov eventually grew to love the people and culture of India, while, at the same time, he began to resent the KGB-sanctioned oppression of intellectuals who dissented from Moscow's policies. He decided to defect to the West. Bezmenov is best remembered for his pro-American, anti-communist lectures and books from the 1980s.

I sometimes get the feeling that PTB is taking heed of the various things being discussed in the conspiracy sites and do all they can to protect themselves against the various warnings to be found there be it 2012, Nibiru , the market crash , Earth Changes etc... In a way this is ironic as while a part of the world is getting out of fear by stepping higher in Consciousness the PTB guys seem to dive more deeply into it, rushing to take every penny they can on everyone's back before disappearing in their underground basis .
So it's going to be a shock therapy for some but what a relief for the rest of us :)
I am unable to foresee a gloomy future I can only focus on the huge energy that will be released as the changes take place and how this will be harnessed to create a much better place to dwell.
As a dry and cold world is crumbling under our feet let's focus on the fresh green spots as they return.

Humanity always chooses the painful way to learn. As we can see in this thread, the warnings were not missing. These were from intelligent and prominent people, who had the ability to see dangerous patterns, and the courage to warn humanity.

The same thing happens in my job on a smaller scale. I constantly risk losing my job by warning management about our dangerous practices, and nothing is done until a disaster happens. Then action is taken, but motivation fades away with the emotional reaction to the disaster.

The question is how painfull does it need to be to learn anything . The suffering of others leave many cold . It seems this is a threshold everyone needs to cross alone . I have learned some great lessons through painfull incidents too but I feel this does'nt specially need to be a requisite for advancement. Given the proper care and attention plants tend to blossom.
Why would that be any different with humans...
I am sorry to hear about what is taking place in your company and the deafness response they have been having towards your repeated warnings metaw. I understand how disheartening this can be .
I am my own boss since the beginning and have no employees . I think that if I could do my work without the burden of having to earn a living with it I would be completely satisfied with the way things are .

Team action is possibly a great experience but finding the right leader that makes every body win is something else.

Mudra, what Metaw3 describes, is happening in many other companies worldwide. The same here in the company where I work. Due to my intuition and my ability to discern the exact energies of any new or ongoing project, I have been giving warnings to the management here for many months now and being able to exactly determine the final result of any missmanagement. And as in his company, it was just "overheard" and "overlooked"...until nothing moves on properly and the project(s) threatens to get stucked.

The companies only react at the end, instead of acting accordingly from the beginning.

But the main problem overall is, all companies try to accomplish more work with less people...and as per old saying: due to budget constraints, you can financily starve your company to death if the management have the wrong approach.

    Much respect

Mudra, I have to agree with malletzky. I was trained in systems theory and how to identify systems problems. I was also trained on how to correct dysfunctional systems with the least amount of energy/effort to where the system can self-correct itself.

Yet what does one do when the problem is ego along with a management attitude of doing more with less resources? From my personal perspective, it's been like this since the 70's and each year it gets worse. At least in Europe (in the past) there was more for the worker with respect to a decent vacation but in the US this is not so. Now corporate mentality has invaded the workplace around the globe. Big Business is out to exploit the worker for their own bottom line... and in government, politicians are owned by Big Business.

Even when I was Executive Director of various non-profit agencies I always had a Board of Directors to contend with - some Board members had big egos and blocked financial fairness to the workers with lesser stature but who carried a huge responsibility in what they did do.

Financial mismanagement is at the heart of the problem and is often based on self-interests, or corporate interests, at the expense of others. And this is the result of individuals who operate without spiritual integrity or even a basic understanding of what it means to be personally accountable to those one interfaces with.

IMPO, I think we have a lot of ego-centric, emotionally immature individuals at the top who are either clueless and/or don't have the guts on how to do the "right thing." I have also personally observed how many of these individuals are addicted to various substances and as a result are subsequently brain damaged. They put up a great "false front" facade but when one looks behind this screen many of these individuals tend to be morally and/or spiritually bankrupt. Sadly, these are the type of leaders who think they are above the law and should have the right to do whatever pleases them, even if it creates harm for another. They are not emotionally integrated and their personalities are split off to the point of where they disassociate from the consequence of their behavior and the negative impact it has on others.

What is the answer? Enforce accountability would be a good start. Some would identify this as instant karma. And most of us understand it's good for the soul to be held accountable for what it does in the world and towards others.

I think we could open an interesting debate on the validity to have a leader at all or what makes a
    good leader after all ?
I have always resented taking orders from above . The short experiences I had with that,
be it in the Art school I attended or working groups just encouraged me to make it my own
way. In the same manner that we have to do our Spiritual journey by our own I believe the same
holds true with our social life .If we searched around for good leaders I believe we would probably
find that they made their way up there from scratch having a pretty good reality of all the various
jobs that are now delegated to others as expansion takes place .They know the music by heart and
therefore can easily help their employees to excel in their jobs. Now that still would'nt be a guarantee of success
Imo unless the leader would also make sure that the ones that applied for the jobs really did so because it's
their life's passion for the time being. When everyone is just in the right place for them in life then
progress can and will be made in the most natural way as that makes everyone automatically fully accountable.
A remarkable story of one of these naturally born leaders is the life of Estee Lauder recounted by Sullitzer .
From complete poverty and victimhood of pogroms in Poland this intelligent woman Lauder made it all the way up
through faith and hard work alone.
You may well be in the right place for you metaw and Mal but if your collegues or boss got there by "accident "
then the door is open for trouble in the horizon and frustration too.
Now to link back these thoughts to the idea of humans learning through pain . I think this could be greatly
reduced would the above conditions be met . Pain is'nt felt like pain when one is learning to master a new piece of
music. Just an overcoming of obstacles towards a desired goal .
To me the vacillating worldwide economy is a reflection of how much unhappy and disconnected from life at it's fullest
the majority of us are .
What about making a global assessment of what this world is needing to get back in shape and then let everyone
join in cooperation doing what they are best at . Forget about the money be it paper or silver or golden coins .
Who would still need these when happiness is at work from within to without ?
It feels to me humanity has schrunk like a coil and that time has come to let the true powers unfold.

I strongly believe in a hierarchical society based on both intelligence and morality. One has no value without the other. Leaders need both. I like to think that those who ought to be our leaders have been on strike for a while, much like in Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. They are PhDs who work at the minimum wage in a factory. Not because they're forced to, but because they're wise enough to avoid being hosts of this parasitic system. They're depriving the parasites of intelligence and morality.
