The banner is absolutely beautiful - I'm trying to understand - really - could someone help me relate this to the mists around Avalon because it looks so otherworldly - beautiful, but not earthly. Help me - I have never been one of those people who could interpret paintings. It's very pleasing to the eye, I am just trying to understand the connection - maybe there doesn't need to be one. I'm a blank slate at this point.
Now, if the mists are not to be portrayed at literal, then I could get my head around a symbolic mYsts and see it's connection - kind of like the new Jerusalem spoken of in the Bible - an ethereal Jerusalem rather than a literal one.
Please don't view this as criticism - I'm the one with the vision problem, not ya'll.

Its only for a Couple of days then one of the Misty ones goes up there - Then a couple days later another and so on. Its not Permanent as We will be changing them up every couple of days or weeks depending on the Community's take on each one.
Its just a change for the Eyes is all and You must admit - We have to acknowledge all of the hard work others have done on Banners. This is just one of the ways to do that...

This is taken straight from my portal layout/design proposal posted elsewhere on the forum, I was just asked to post the banner here. And it's a pic a just grabbed off the interwebs (http://www.cool-desktop-backgrounds.com/); I would propose to have several versions of the banner background image anyway, I think this was already suggested in this thread. Also the image should have cleared copyright (should be fine in this case as this site is clearly non-commercial). I assume this site is hosted with a regular hosting company (Goddady in this case) so you guys ought to have access to all the usual controls and features, so, why not set up a sandbox for experiments and tuning, for example a subdomain such as sandbox.themistsofavalon.net, password protected through htaccess if need be, so all those experiments can be conducted without affecting the real forum.
Speaking of which, may I ask why the e-mail notifications come from the board@forumotion.com address, and replies are sent to mac@gillamnet.com? Is there a reason not to set-up mail accounts for this purpose on this domain?

All We have with this Forum is a CP Interface and three Temporary Themes plus the Default one. We cannot Upload to this Forum from that Interface anything other than minor Graphics and CSSs and even with that - Its Image Hosting that is Hosting Our Graphics.
We can't get to the root Folder or for that matter any of the Forum Folder Hierarchy of this Forum nor are We able to upload anything other than what The Host allows Us as already detailed.
Now while this is more than the free Invision Forum allowed Us - It is still lacking in the Functionality You describe or think We already have. That said - We do not have that Functionality - YET...

Well, Godaddy is the domain's registrar according to Whois. A made assumptions based on that. I'm not sure how the Freeforums work, but by having had a look I assumed the forum software is phpBB 3.x (I think it also showed up in one of the skins) although the source code a) is compressed b) lacks the generator meta. If my previous assumption is wrong, the next one would be that the Freeforums allows you to set up a site with a forum and redirect a DNS entry of your domain to it, which I see as very impractical, hence unlikely - wouldn't it make much more sense to just get a hosting plan and download and install phpBB or other free forum software, while being able to do anything else, like set up more-or-less unlimited number of e-mail accounts, subdomains and whatnot?

Its that We can select from 4 different types of Board and go back and fouth between them if We so wish. That being pHpBB2, pHpBB3, PunBB and Invision as types of Forum Boards We can run and switch between and have the Info travel across It globally. That said Forum Motion owns all the Code - The WebServers - All of It at the moment and so this is the real reason for thoughts of expansion...
As far as the URL - I reserved It for Us for the next Year and will have to get into negotiations with them on purchasing It if We even can. The Phone call for that is tomorrow BTW...
