Last summer, the House passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act.
Would have required proof of citizenship to vote, would have been effective for Nov 5.
198 dems voted against.
Died in Senate. But they appended it to the Continuing Resolution in September, and promised to hold the line on it. The continuing resolution was for six months also - put it out to March 2025.
Johnson caved really fast, they took out the SAVE provisions and made it 3 months - so the resolution expires Dec 20, setting up a battle about govt shutdown just b4 Christmas - a trick for lame-duck dems to get whatever they want because everybody wants to go on vacation.
I just realized that Dec. 20 is 45 days from Nov 5. EO 13848 Foreign Interference in Elections requires first report from 17 intelligence agencies to be delivered that day.
I think they set up budget battle to cover the EO report!
Budget battle will be big news and election rigging will be small print on page 8!
