    Yesterday’s geomagnetic (radiation) storm was a “G4” rather than the “G2” or “G3” that had been earlier predicted.

    The “KP Index” which rates cosmic energetics as they activate planet Earth rated the storm “SEVERE”.

    Solar winds are currently traveling on this Thursday morning of January 2nd, at 561.2 km/s from the normalcy of between 300 and 400 km/s, and they are pushing-out proton plasma which is again building in the magnetosphere.

    The “G4” intensity of radiation has calmed down, but with the build-up of plasma again, it is likely that more geomagnetic storms will soon occur.

    Yesterday was a great Day! A great day!

Praying that they don't loose electricity. Other folks were stuck out on the roads in their vehicles freezing their asses off. Businesses and banks were closed. 9 inches of snow in one area in just a few hours.

    > It's for conditions like these one needs to prep for the cold. Candles/flash lights are cheap. Wool socks are cheap. Hand warmers, hat/cap, warm neck scarf and gloves are cheap.     Authorities are describing the situation as one of the most destructive wildfire outbreaks the region has ever experienced. “L.A. County and all 29 fire departments in our county are not prepared for this type of widespread disaster,” he said, adding, “There are not enough firefighters in L.A.     > Tragically, the City of Angels has been transformed into the City of Ash. Kind of reminds one of what happened in Sodom & Gomorrah, doesn't it?

    > Any particular disaster films special effects seem familiar? Having trouble keeping up with the news or are you ready to go back to bed and pull the covers up over your head? Even escaping to Hawaii doesn't looks so good these days with Kilauea Volcano erupting, spewing all that toxic vog (volcanic ash) into the air and freaking 35 foot ocean waves.

    > Are you currently hunkering down sheltering in place waiting for the current snow storm to pass? Did you get your oil tank filled up and heated the house? Was the parking lot full when you drove to the market to stock up? Do you still have electricity?

    > Sadly Los Angeles residents are still evacuating and many are now homeless. Where will they go? They lost EVERYTHING. Will they even be allowed to rebuild on their property or will it be confiscated like in Lahaina and North Carolina? There was no doubt that DEW were used along with arsonists. And what about that mayor?

    Horrifying how the "unthinkable" is the new reality, isn't it?

    Keep one small emergency lid-covered container for the house and one for the vehicle filled with essentials is just common sense. HAVE A BUG-OUT BACK-PACK FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER.

    Earthquake prediction is the holy grail of seismology and one of humanity’s greatest dreams. The Earth’s magnetic field appears to be one of the best possible precursors of earthquakes, although the topic is controversial. Recent advancements have made it possible to observe magnetic fields from satellites with great accuracy. We utilize magnetic measurements from Swarm satellites to explore the potential identification of anomalous magnetic signals preceding earthquakes. Focusing on 1077 major earthquakes that occurred in 2014–2023 in the Alpine–Himalayan belt, we apply an automatic algorithm to data recorded 10 days before each earthquake. This analysis reveals clear pre-earthquake anomalies in the magnetic field components. Notably, a robust correlation is established between the duration of these anomalies and the earthquake magnitude, indicating that as the earthquake magnitude increases, so does the duration of the anomaly. Here we show that this method has a great ability to make predictions (high accuracy 79%, precision 88%, F1-score and hit rate 84%), thus becoming the basis for an Operational Earthquake Prediction System (OEPS).

    All those lost jobs due to total destruction and no way to earn a paycheck.

    Do their credit cards even work? Do they have access to their bank accounts, or means to pay their bills? Was their home owner's insurance cancelled like so many others in the area at the end of 2024? Do they even have a means to make a living, rebuild, or will their property be confiscated like in Lahaina and North Carolina? Where would they even get supplies to rebuild or construction crews to help them? Sadly thousands of Californians who houses burned down still have to pay monthly mortgage and property taxes. How many will end up defaulting due to loss of income?  

    Wonder how many will choose bankruptcy? How many of will decide to relocate to Mexico, Arizona, Texas?

    Having a roof over ones head, a bed to sleep in, a means to keep warm in the freezing temps and food, no matter how little is a blessing.

    PNW 18° Freezing Ass Cold & Calm

    They're grooming the high mountain trail for the 100 & 200 mile sled dog race. Awesome sight. Snow expected. Some of the volunteers are already prepping their cold weather gear including battery operated warming snow gloves and socks. They'll be out in the freezing cold for hours with their ham radios checking in at the various rest stop location points along the route.

    If you've not seen it yet, Andrew Ryan's 3-hour video "I Turned my Truck into a Studio Apartment (Start to Finish Build)" is awesome. Throughout he says, I don't know what I'm doing, but I'll figure it out. His self-talk is both humorous and up-lifting. And he built it all in less that 30 days. Thumbs-up.

    Credible sources are telling me The Trump Inauguration ceremony parade and after party is cancelled at Capital. The swearing in ceremony was going to be moved to The White House but for the moment that is in question .. Everything is up in the air right now. Multiple reports that are usually credible sources are now placing president elect Trump at multiple different locations at the same time. A shell game seems to be being played to protect his location. The swearing in may take place in a yet undisclosed location and timing. It appears to be legally possible for Trump to be sworn in earlier in the day on the 20th and not necessarily at noon. I’m working to vet all this information as it comes to me. This must be treated as a moving target.

    Rare indeed. Normally, Earth's stratosphere has no clouds at all.     Right now, NASA climate models are saying that the temperature of the polar stratosphere is at its lowest point since 1978. This super-cold air is directly responsible for the formation of PSCs. It is no coincidence that the polar vortex is now much stronger than average. The fast-moving vortex is keeping cold air bottled up over the Arctic. It's the "perfect storm" for PSCs.
