WATCH THE WATER - AUGUST 6TH - Page 2 AA10pSBNDeath Valley National Park rain:
    ‘A 1,000-year event'

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — How rare was the heavy weekend rain at Death Valley National Park?

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/death-valley-national-park-rain-a-1-000-year-event/ar-AA10pLjb

Let Daniel Berc, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Las Vegas explain: “The heavy rain that caused the devastating flooding at Death Valley was an extremely rare 1,000-year event,” Berc said Sunday in a news release from the National Park Service. “A 1,000-year event doesn’t mean it happens once per 1000 years, rather that there is a 0.1% chance of occurring in any given year.”
Nearly a year's worth of rain fell in three hours, flooding roads, parking lots and buildings in the park on the California-Nevada border. The 1.46 inches at Furnace Creek is still preliminary data, and mere drops away from the all-time record of 1.47 inches.
Major impacts include the loss of a critical portion of the Cow Creek water system that serves some park residences as well as park facilities, including the Emergency Operations Building and maintenance yard. Over 600 feet of the water main was blown out by flash floods, causing catastrophic system damage, according to the news release.
Several miles of roadway have moderate to severe asphalt damage with hundreds of miles battered by debris.
Conditions are still being assessed, but some damage makes makes access by vehicles to several areas impossible, the agency said.
Aerial surveys Saturday by a Naval Weapons Station China Lake helicopter crew found several vehicles in remote areas of the park. Rangers were able to contact these visitors and ensure that everyone was OK, the agency said.
California Department of Transportation expects to reopen portions of Highway 190 by Tuesday, allowing for travel between Pahrump, Nevada, and the park's residential and administrative area at Cow Creek. This will include access to the park's visitor center at Furnace Creek, as well as the private hotels at Furnace Creek. Park roads are expected to remain closed for days to months depending on the severity of damage. No injuries to visitors or park residents have been reported, the agency said, and people who were previously sheltering in place have been able to carefully travel out through the damaged roadways. No park roads are currently open to recreational travel because of safety concerns and active road work.
"Death Valley is an incredible place of extremes," said park superintendent Mike Reynolds. "It is the hottest place in the world, and the driest place in North America. This week's 1,000 year flood is another example of this extreme environment. With climate change models predicting more frequent and more intense storms, this is a place where you can see climate change in action!"

End of drought in France? Incredible storm flooded Paris!
France has suffered from heat waves in recent weeks.
On peak days, the thermometer was close to 40 degrees Celsius.

And today a strong storm with rain hit Paris.
The meteorological station on the Eiffel Tower recorded wind gusts up to 104 km/h.

Streams of water hit the French capital around 6 pm.
In just one hour, 44 mm of rain fell.

This is more than half of what usually falls in a month.
The streets were flooded, water complicated the traffic.
The Paris metro was also affected by heavy rains.
At least seven stations were closed due to water leaks.

Pakistan declares national emergency as flood toll nears 1,000 and more than 30 million without shelter

slamabad, Pakistan – The government has declared devastating floods a “national emergency” after nearly 1,000 people died and more than 30 million are without shelter as monsoon rains continue to lash the South Asian nation.

At least 937 people have died since mid-June, including 343 children, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), with large swaths of the southwestern province of Balochistan remaining submerged, bringing back the memory of the devastating 2010 floods.

More than half of the casualties are from Balochistan and southern Sindh province where 234 and 306 people died respectively amid record rains that have affected half a million houses across the country.

Fida Hussain Shahani, a labourer from a remote village in Sindh, is grieving for his son who was swept away by the deluge.

“Yesterday, the flood water kept rising and entered our house. While trying to reach high ground, my 17-year-old son was left behind. I only managed to find his body this morning,” Shahani said from Shahani village on Friday.

The 42-year-old says his family of 12 has not been provided with any relief or aid from the government and only volunteers came to his help.

He said the magnitude of this year’s rains was unprecedented. “Things were not so bad even in the 2010 floods. We never had to leave our village but this time, everything is destroyed,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his official trip to the United Kingdom, as he appealed for funds from friendly countries and international institutions amid the worst flooding in decades.

“The ongoing rain spell has caused devastation across the country. The losses, though yet to be documented, are comparable to flash floods of 2010,” Sharif tweeted, referring to the deadly 2010 floods.

The great drought and the great deluge, all at the same time
    Ishaan Tharoor - August 29, 2022

In the age of climate change, our past intrudes upon the present. Last week, receding water levels in a Serbian stretch of the Danube, Europe’s second-largest river, surfaced a flotilla of Nazi-era German warships that were still packed with ammunition and unexploded ordnance. They were exposed at a time when Europe is experiencing what appears to be the worst dry spell in half a millennium, with two-thirds of the continent under some form of drought warning.

Other ruins and wrecks are popping up as waterways shrink. A submerged 1st century A.D. Roman bridge possibly constructed under the orders of Emperor Nero emerged from the Tiber River last month; further to the north, out of the depths of Italy’s tourist-clogged Lake Como, emerged a 100,000-year-old skull of a deer and the ancient remains of lions, hyenas and rhinos.

Scorching high temperatures left the Iberian Peninsula drier than any time in the last 1,200 years. In Spain, parched riverbeds and shrinking reservoirs have exposed a Neolithic monument known as the Spanish Stonehenge, a Roman fortress, a medieval church, and a number of more recent “ghost towns” that had been abandoned and flooded following 20th century dam projects.

In France, which is experiencing its worst drought on record, wine makers are harvesting their grapes earlier than ever. At a time where anxiety is already mounting over energy costs, surging temperatures and sparse rainfall have hit hydropower capacity in parts of Europe. They have also wreaked havoc on the continent’s agricultural output.

On this front, too, Europe’s rivers are turning up bleak omens — the receding waters in parts of central Europe have revealed old “hunger stones,” markers placed along riverbeds that locals centuries prior left as guides to earlier droughts. One stone that emerged out of the Elbe read: “When this goes under, life will become more colorful again.”

How ‘heat officers’ plan to help cities survive ever-hotter summersThese maps show how excessively hot it is in Europe and the U.S.
Related video: Extreme drought seen all over the world

Yet what’s being experienced now in Europe — and all over the world — isn’t simply a rerun of the past. The northern hemispheric summer has been defined by a relentless series of unwelcome climate-related superlatives. Heat waves set record temperatures across cities in the Middle East and Europe. China is in the grips of its worst drought on record, which has dried up parts of the Yangtze River and impacted swaths of the country’s industrial sector. Meanwhile, in the space of only five weeks, U.S. cities experienced five instances of 1,000-year rain events — that is, episodes of severe flooding that have just 0.1 percent probability of happening in any given year.

The scale and ferocity of what’s taking place is supercharged by climate change. “Studies have found that heat waves are increasing in intensity and duration in China, as well as delivering warmer temperatures at night, because of human-induced climate change,” my colleagues reported. “The increase has been observed in urban and rural locations. Heat waves are also starting earlier and ending later.”

In China, the droughts in some parts of the countries have been met by a deluge in others. The western province of Qinghai experienced such heavy rains that some rivers changed course; landslides and floods killed more than a dozen people earlier this month.

In some cases, there is a direct link between drought and floods — soil actually absorbs water better when damp, while heavy rains slosh off parched landscapes into waterways. That explains why researchers in Central Texas are fearful of what may happen after a drought exposed 113-million-year-old dinosaur tracks in a dried-up riverbed.

“Given the wild fluctuations in weather and precipitation, we can have these long dry periods exposing things and then catastrophic flooding,” Vincent Santucci, senior paleontologist at the National Park Service, told my colleagues. “The high-energy nature of those floods can completely destroy a fossil site.”

Five 1,000-year rain events have struck the U.S. in five weeks. Why?
In South Asia, searing heat earlier in the summer gave way to an erratic and intense monsoon season. That, in turn, has stoked major flooding and landslides across Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Pakistan has been ravaged in recent weeks, with heavy rains and rising rivers leading to the deaths of more than 1,000 people and the displacement of over 10 million. Pakistan declared a state of emergency over the weekend and requested international aid, with officials describing the devastation wrought by a summer of extreme weather as the worst in over a decade.

Pakistan is experiencing a “climate catastrophe,” the nation’s climate change minister told NPR this weekend.

“Extreme climate events have become a regular phenomenon in South Asia,” wrote Hamid Mir for The Washington Post’s opinion pages last month. “We are facing weather-related problems in almost all parts of Pakistan. Flooding has become almost routine in some areas; others are plagued by drought. Glaciers are melting fast, resulting in reduced water flow in rivers. Farming is suffering as a result, and the decline in agricultural productivity is creating food insecurity. All this is accelerating migration from rural areas to cities.”

South Asia is at the sharp end of a planetary crisis. Unrelenting heat waves have led scientists to wonder whether areas in the region may soon become uninhabitable or too dangerous for human life. “Across India and around the world, summer has become a season of peril, when society’s poorest and most vulnerable members must live and work in conditions that push the limits of human endurance,” my colleagues detailed in a grim but important piece that charted life for Indian day laborers with no choice but to work outside.

The COMMS are insane this weekend

    Last few days…..

-2 days ago Russia completely shut down the Nord Stream line to Europe which means the Gas costs will Sky rocket which will add to the financial system to crash.

-Then yesterday Ukraine Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant lost its connection to its last remaining main external power line and will continue to supply the electricity grid via a reserve line.

-60% of factories in the U.K. will shut due to high energy prices

-#pedohitler and #satanist trend on Twatter straight after Chyna Bidens Nazi speech.

-After the Nazi speech the Biden Administration announced that Skippy (John Podesta) will be joining the White House team as senior advisor to Pedo Biden.

    -‘My Son Hunter film’ released.

-Trump calls out Bidens late stage Dementia.

-We find out that the Biden admin held weekly censorship meetings with social media giants to suppress COVID and vaccine speech.

-Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Launches Lawsuit Against FDA...

-Massive blockages in the Mediterranean Sea this week.

-Major Strikes continue in the U.K.

-British Pound has the biggest monthly fall against the dollar since 2016

-Lizard Queens health continues to decline.

    -Dan Scavino posting Dog Comms

-Trump said last night at his rally he was sweating like a Dog.

-Fake Biden posting picture of his dog today.

-Chuck Grassley posting pictures of Corn being ready to harvest

-Trump last night at his rally played the WWG1WGA and I am Q songs whilst talking about the precipice as you could hear a storm behind him.

    My conclusion….

    It’s Go time

'Total devastation': Historic Newfoundland town is DESTROYED by Hurricane Fiona as homes are swept out to sea, roads are washed away and 471,000 are left without power - but no deaths are reported
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11247423/Newfoundland-town-DESTROYED-Fiona-homes-swept-sea-roads-washed-away-no-deaths.html

Devastating storm Fiona threw nearly half a million Canadians into darkness, uprooted trees, swept away roads and destroyed the pretty Newfoundland town of Port Aux Basques after it slammed into eastern part of the country on Saturday. Post-Tropical Cyclone Fiona, as it is now called after being downgraded by the National Hurricane Center, punished the coastal towns of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island New Brunswick and Newfoundland with winds of more than 80 MPH, which knocked out power to 470,000 households. 'We're seeing devastating images come out of Port aux Basques,' Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told the press. 'PEI (Prince Edward Island) has experienced storm damage like they've never seen. Cape Breton is being hit hard, too, as is Quebec.'

Escalating hurricane threat prompts statewide emergency in Florida
The entire state of Florida was put under a state of emergency on Saturday as Ian gradually strengthened and gained speed.

With that in mind, the AccuWeather tropical forecast team is warning of the possibility that Ian could undergo rapid intensification in the days ahead as it churns northward and the wind shear continues to subside.

"Because of very warm waters and a forecast minimal amount of disruptive winds, there is the potential for the system to undergo rapid strengthening anytime from this weekend to midweek," AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said.

In the Caribbean, people in Jamaica should prepare for deteriorating conditions in the form of progressively heavier downpours and increasing winds later Saturday and Sunday with a close call, and a likelihood of tropical storm conditions.

    https://www.accuweather.com/en/hurricane/escalating-hurricane-threat-prompts-statewide-emergency-in-florida/1251877

The burgeoning system is poised to bring yet another surge for the overall intensity of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season, which was off to a historically slow start through its first three months.

Meteorologists gauge the overall intensity of a hurricane season by tabulating a metric known as ACE, or the accumulated cyclone energy of each named storm in a hurricane season.

As of Sept. 16, according to Colorado State University (CSU), the 2022 ACE value stood at 31.1 for the Atlantic basin and was dramatically trailing the pace of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, which finished with a value of 145.7.

However, thanks to the force and longevity of Fiona, which has racked up an ACE value of 25 and counting through Sept. 23 – the most of any Atlantic hurricane so far this year – the season’s total ACE has catapulted to 57.9. That figure still trails what is considered a normal ACE value, 84.4, through this point of the Atlantic hurricane season, according to CSU, but the developing storm will no doubt add significantly to that total.

Authorities in the Philippines were on high alert Sunday as Super Typhoon Noru began to blast through the country’s eastern islands on a path toward its main Luzon island.

The eyewall of the storm, locally known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Karding, was making landfall in the Polillo Islands at 5 p.m. local (5 a.m. ET), according to an update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The storm has sustained winds of 240 kph (149 mph), with gusts up to 295 kph (183 mph), according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center.

Authorities previously issued an extreme emergency alert as the storm reached super typhoon status early on Sunday morning local time, after suddenly intensifying.

Flights cancelled as storm Hermine hits Spain's Canary Islands
Spain's national weather agency, Aemet, has issued a red weather alert for the islands of Gran Canaria, La Palma and El Hierro from midday until midnight on Sunday, September 25th. The regional government has closed schools on Monday as a precaution.

On Sunday, regional president Angel Victor Torres told a press conference the storm was expected to move closest to the islands between 11 p.m. on Sunday and 11 a.m. on Monday.

Hermine had been expected to strike the Canary Islands as a tropical storm but was downgraded on Sunday to a tropical depression by the U.S. National Hurricane Center. It said heavy rains were expected to continue into Monday.

Tropical Storm Ian expected to rapidly strengthen, parts of SWFL still in forecast cone
    https://nbc-2.com/news/tropics/2022/09/25/tropical-depression-9-tropical-storm-hurricane-ian/

Tropical Storm Ian is strengthening with winds sustained at 50 mph and gusts up to 65 mph. The storm is heading into a very favorable environment in the next 48 hours with very warm sea surface temperatures and low wind shear.

This will allow Ian to strengthen into a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.

Landfall is expected somewhere along the Florida Gulf Coast by Thursday or Friday. Though the sea surface temperatures are still warm in the northeastern Gulf, the wind shear is strong making for a more hostile environment
